Wish you could set minimum metabolic efficiency to something larger than -5 :/

@Timo4545 and @QeoJin, I presume you may have figured this out by now but for some reason the minimum metabolic efficiency requires a restart to change

What you want is not the increase the parents metabolic efficiency (unless it also applies to the unborn child) but instead lower the cost of metabolic efficiency of some of these genes.

Doesn't have to be 0, could be -1 or -0.5. That gives you more room for the kid to produce the traits necessary to be born.

No this mod won't help with that at all.
The way pregnancy work is that the kid rolls between -3 and 3 for their metabolic efficiency.

But the pregnancy will fail if the kids parents push it over the -5 to 5 interval.

The way that can happen is that the parents have enough different germline gene to push the positives or negatives of inherited genes beyond the +5/-5 range.

If the kid rolls a -3 and the next germline gene from the dad adds -2, then the kid is stuck with -5 and have no more space for the rest of the germline genes and can't be shaped,

All I want is a mod that has a single button that sets all metabolic values for all genes to 0.

This says it should add 5 extra complexity by default but I'm getting much more. I had 34 complexity maximum before installing this mod. Now I have 510. The setting box says 0 in the mod options as well by default. Not sure how to actually set it to 0. It can't be negative.

Conversely is there a way to reduce maximum negative metabolic efficiency?

All my pawns are busy raising 7 kids with 200x hunger rate due to inheriting genes

Released an update that refactored BiostatRange related code... again. This should help with a soft-incompatibility with some mods that repeatedly calling BiostatRange.

i believe If the metabolism is lower or higher by 5 for a xenotype you can't have Pregnancy

I agree with Arquebus. This mod is explicitly for biotech and gene inheritance since the base system does not handle offspring inheriting genes from two different xenotypes very well, especially with high complexity custom xenotypes.

@Recipient Lumber why the gatekeeping? Why tell how other people need to play? This mod is for people who want to interact with the biotech systems, but wish to have slightly more freedom from the restrictions in place. If you don't want to use this mod, then don't.

@hottt3 Rimworld is such a moddable title because it is very robust. This mod won't be breaking your game from a functional perspective and I leave balance concerns up to the user.
In regards to your second and third questions, no, rimworld spawns set xenotypes. This mod is mainly for when creating your own xenotypes to spawn in or for gene manipulation during gameplay.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the implant genes ability. I think it only plants the rigid xenogenes and not the other genes. Maybe someone has made a mod that changes this to work how I would expect.

I've done that, will wait until they attempt it again, set it on try for baby. In the meantime I have another issue, not sure if it's related. Tried to implant genes using the special injector organ but it says "already has the baseliner xenotype". The enhanced gene people were created with Prepare Carefully. Any ideas?

@Рlαγζr 🐵 I fixed this bug ages ago. For some reason the steam workshop sometimes doesn't properly update your files. Please try unsubscribing from the mod then resubscribing. If it's still happening, there may be some kind of mod conflict going on, in which case I'll need some logs :)

I have some OP genes and have run into this issue. Pregnancy failed: Combined genes exceeded metabolism limit. Anyone know a solution to this that'll let me make super babies?

I thought this removed the metabolic efficiency which it doesn't and that's entirely on me. I'm just stupid and can't read.

@Sariten clone extractor is from the Biotech Cloning mod right? This mod uses harmony patches on the vanilla codebase. If that mod does not use that code to calculate gene complexity stuff, then the new limits wont be changed on their mod.

Ok not sure if I've done something wrong or if I've just misunderstood. Does this mod work on brand new games allowing you to make custom xenotypes from the get go? Or does it only work when creating them later during the game?
