I also want to bring up that we also had our own sources and literary traditions that preserved these toponym names very well, as well as the surrounding regions.

While I understand that Paradox was trying to keep a theme here, they have been very inconsistent with it. While the toponym theme was Roman/Greek, there was a large amount of turkic and persian and even Armenian toponyms that they didn't change. The least they could have done was to search for the original Armenian name, then Greco-Romanify them.

There is a good argument to be made for Armenian Toponyms but there is a very good reason for Paradox's decision to stick with Greek and Latin based ones - the sources for this period are overwhelmingly in Greek and Latin.
