there is also an updated version of this very mod that doesn't seem to use any animations anymore that the original mod used to do but it looks very sketchy to me, especially the latter link that i sent you.
what do you think about this?
should i use this?
or shouldn't i use this?
would you use this if you were me in this situation?

if your read through the comment section a few people said that this mod touches the animations of the units that were changed by this very mod.
so that's where the incompatibility with your mod comes from.

after some long testing i finally found the mod that was causing some incompatability issues with your mod.
it's this one right here and only this one.

i had all of my mods active instead of this one right here and malakai makaisson was shooting like he was normally intended to do.

More Giant Attack Animation is most likely broken but it's not the one causing the issue.

Warhammer 1 Update Project Model Fixes does contain animation tables that need to be updated if they haven't already, but it's not touching the units you have problems with.


Guns, Smoke & Spectacle causes issues with VFX, it's out of date. It doesn't seem to cause the exact issue you describe but you shouldn't use it until it's updated. Check out to see if that fixes the issue.

Other than that I don't see anything that could be causing these issues.

If you disable these mods and the issue persists, I'm going to need to see the modified.log


As for Warhammer 3 Visual Bug Fixes, sorry, the author forgot to update the title, my bad, seems to be up to date.

That mod contains animation tables and should not be used until it's updated BUT it's not the mod causing your issues as it doesn't touch Malakai's animations (or the Handgunner's).

You may have deactivated all the other mods in the launcher but the launcher sometimes leaves them on (hopefully the new launcher fixes this)

yeah that totally happened when i did the testing yesterday, sorry!

since when i only use your mod, it doesn't happen in a custom battle; only with all my mods activated.

So this mod doesn't even touch hu3_dlc25_malakai_axe_and_rifle, the animation that Malakai uses which just confirms that you're using something that's messing up your animations. CA updated the animation tables this patch and any old animation mods that haven't been updated are going to cause issues.

You may have deactivated all the other mods in the launcher but the launcher sometimes leaves them on (hopefully the new launcher fixes this)

What you can do to check this: Start the game. Go to custom battle, check that the bug is still there. While the game is still running go to

%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer3\logs

and find the modified.log file. Then write the contents of that log file here.

yeah i mean when they stand still, they shoot twice, all of this happens when this is the only active mod!

also, i found a bug where malakai makaisson shoot all of his 3 shots per volley all at once and not after one another like his shooting animation may hint at.

it's very weird and very noticable with trails on too.

If by shooting twice you mean when you fire -> move -> they fire again, that’s how it has always worked, because the game doesn’t really track reloading states.
If they are standing still and yet they fire twice before reloading then something in your modlist is breaking this.

You are using 2 out of date animation mods and yet you somehow thought that this one, the one that just got updated, is the issue?

Matched combat and the patch are currently broken as CA updated the animation tables with ToT.

The animations will shorten to accomodate for the shorter reload time.

If you REALLY want to keep using the CA launcher go to %appdata%/The Creative Assembly and delete the entire Launcher folder, that should fix it. You will need to reactivate your mods though.

But honestly, just use one of the community mod managers.

Okay, for me, there is no reloading animation. Curiously, again perhaps just for me, the Total War Launcher no longer recognises the mod. I can uninstall it, then reinstall it, and it is invisible when I start the launcher. When I reported the problem initially, the mod was visible in the launcher, but that is no longer the case after I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it.

Like Marthenil said, it looks like the only solution for me is to use a community mod manager.

Either your mod is not properly activated (use one of the community mod managers) or the units in question are custom and their authors don't support reloading animations.

Depends on the patch. Generally speaking, it doesn't need an update for smaller patches, only major releases with massive amounts of new skeletons/animations tend to need an update.

Just activate it and go to custom battle with the empire, if the handgunners reload just fine then it doesn't need to be updated, if they stop firing or the animations look janky it needs an update. That's all really.
