sure it did not get adopted in to the army then but the winchester 1901 [which is the same thing but longer barrel] was used though out 1901 to 1920 and the wild west era ended in 1890 and ww1 happened in 1914 [maybe] so it could make a ww1 weapon. Amcar i,m a person who thinks it should be on time NOT military service.
the winchester 1887 wasn't ever adopted into military service
