Report a translation problem
The trucks didn't have much protection, so soldiers went to local weld shops to get some made and applied with whatever metal the locals had on hand. Eventually, models were issued with factory made armour and the hillbilly armour went out of use. Other vehicles, like the HMMWV, had also received local hillbilly armour treatment by some and you can find photos of them with it.
It looks post-apoc, but was actually used and looked just like this!
