I need this mod
No need to apologize. The main goal of collecting feedback is always improve! The more the better. Feel free to comment at anytime you wish.
Yeah, loot is pre-generated. I'm not sure about the quantity tho. I think the chance is rolled every time you open something, but, again, I'm not sure.
About find jars in more places: I've considered that but, again, I don't want to make an imbalance, but I'll consider that on the next update.
Again, thanks for your feedback and I wish you all the best!
This game seems to be quite asymmetrical at times in different dimensions of digging or not into more or less details or "realism" in some area in exchange for smoothness of gameplay. Sometimes it can get pretty ridiculous like with me currently having more machetes from survivor houses than glass jars. But to me it does not seem that it has to be unrealistically improbable to find a glass jar in a drawer of spices, dry beans or something like that.
So I would maybe add an even smaller, but still non-zero chance of spawning jars and lids to KitchenDryFood . Technically, on the level of "what actually might happen if it was a tv series", you might rummage through somebody's cupboard full of ramen packs and find a jar with buckwheat or rice, which you, let's say, throw out et voila, you got the jar! *Happy Zelda chest opening noises*
I think that’s indeed how it works. At the very least I’ve tested it by backing up my save and reloading and revisiting the same already discovered but not yet looted house, and the items in it were the same every time.
Ah well, live and learn I guess. Thanks for the reply!
(Since I already visited half of LV on my current run, I guess I will just go and delete already created map chunks excluding my base, because, eh, why not…)
Oh wait.
So I had this impression that the loot is generated in the container when you click on it for the first time. But from your comment I derive that the loot is actually pre-generated in the containers on the map cell when you load it for the first time. Is that right?
(Because if what I wrote above is how it actually works, then it might explain why I couldn't find jars -- simply because I was looting houses on the already visited cells, yet unopened containers)
I've created the mod because of the same frustration you felt, but I've not increased too much to not make an imbalance. I highly recommend you and everyone to take a look at the mod files and change the values for your taste. And one more thing: if you've enabled this mod on your current save, you have to loot a new map cell to see its effects (not sure if you've done this already, if so, bad luck :(). I'm also planning to make an update with Vinegar and Sugar increase spawn rate.
Anyway, I wish you all the luck on your runs!
Looking at the game files, an empty jar has the same spawn chance in the KitchenRandom counter as an aluminum. And yet even with the lucky trait I got just a single empty jar so far. Like, what the hell. And all I wanted are just some jars for curing for GreenFire mod.
I got so frustrated that I wanted to mod this myself, but thankfully you already did that. Gonna try it out now!
@fish @Quill I hope you guys enjoy the mod!
Feedback is much appreciated!
