yeah the penalty is reversed for tomb kings due to their "Power is everything" faction trait

that buff is only from tomb kings if im not mistaken

I tried the modification for the first time. The idea is interesting, but the mod is not balanced.

For example, with this mod I had a situation when I was fighting with The Maggot Host faction for Malachi, but diplomatic relations with it were improving.

Without the mod, everything is correct - stable deterioration.

Does he support multiplayer

It's not a new concept. It has been around in its current form since Rome II (and possibly in a different form in the earlier games as well). Under the hood it's called CAI_VARIABLE_IMPERIUM_ATTITUDE.

Completly stupid concept to have (But its CA, i understand those guy arn't finished) ... Why would ANYONE refuse a non-agression pact from a great power ? Especially a neighbouring one.

Its not a threat if they are the ones saying : "Well, we don't want to fight you, how about we officialise it ?"

Diplomacy 101. Anyway, i guess having a realistic game isn't fun :s

Thanks for the mod my dude, really needed that.

Zog it, Da boyz will 'ave to fine a nudda way den
DrDCB  [author] Feb 2, 2024 @ 8:03pm
It has nothing to do with the Threaten action. It just neuters the passive penalty for the player becoming larger (what WH2 and previous games called "Great Power").

I'm playing Orks and threats shouldn't discourage other Orks from joining Da Waaaaagh. this mod makes it so i take no reliability penalty right? i mean diplomacy is only good for making Da Waaaaagh bigger innit, and Threats is what Orks do... so it feels weird.

the "diplomatic buff available from some AI factions for being a strategic threat" i have seen it for the Arkhan's faction so far at least.
Big_Gooberfish Apr 26, 2023 @ 2:25pm
Thank you for this. Just had a Repanse campaign derailed because a fellow Crusader Bret faction backstabbed me after I... took a second province? From our hated enemy Arkhan the Black? I guess? What a stupid mechanic Strategic Threat is.
mrfatbard Apr 16, 2023 @ 12:04pm
this mod seems to make the tomb kings hate everyone with the absence of their liking strong factions deal, great mod tho

A humble suggestion to balance this: raise diplomatic penalties for other diplomatically negative actions. That also somewhat simulates the real-world principle that great powers may not be seen as strategic threats, but other nations' mistrust is much more pronounced when a great power misbehaves.

Excellent, that's the one I need! :steammocking:

I'll try it out, thanks!
DrDCB  [author] Dec 15, 2022 @ 6:24pm
It should work fine, as long as both people are subscribed to it and their load order in the mod manager is identical.
SYDO Dec 15, 2022 @ 12:21pm
Does the mod work for coop campaing?
Dominicius Oct 25, 2022 @ 9:56pm
Strategic threat IS NOT Great Power Penalty. GPP made way more sense.

You can lower your strategic threat by being passive, losing armies and heroes or letting your settlements get sacked. While GPP only counted how many settlements you have. Strategic Threat is such a bullshit mechanic that I don't know how anyone could have considered implementing it.
DrDCB  [author] Oct 24, 2022 @ 11:38am
Yes, this simply negates the strategic threat (AKA great power/imperium) penalty to diplomatic negotiations. It doesn't change how the underlying AI diplomatic mechanics work.
Hoplite Oct 11, 2022 @ 10:29am
Just FYI, while playing Lothern, I noticed that Arkhan the Black's followers of Nagash, for one, had a positive strategic threat modifier to their opinion of me.
DrDCB  [author] Oct 9, 2022 @ 7:55pm
It should be fine to add or remove it mid-campaign.
Renbaez Oct 9, 2022 @ 5:35am
Is this save compatible?

"By Sigmar! My allies have defeated all of our enemies and became really powerful! I should hate on them and cancel our agreements. We definitely don't wanna be on their good side."

-Imperial diplomat, probably

Works like a charm, thanks. Finally I can keep stable alliances.
CapybaraConnoisseur Jun 23, 2022 @ 3:26am
Never liked this mechanic in any game, it's bad and makes zero sense most of the time.
Blaze Jun 10, 2022 @ 10:23pm
i was wondering why tf the Empire suddenly hated me after purging Sylvania and Skrag... turns out this is literally just Great Power from WH2 LOL. thanks.
Bonkoul May 18, 2022 @ 4:47am
The diplomatic buff from being a "Strategic Threat" applied so far only to the Tomb Kings, which does not appear in the campaigns of WH3 yet. If they go with the same stuff than in WH2, that is.
Alan Apr 18, 2022 @ 9:40am
Thanks... Having everyone declare war on you just makes no sense.
DrDCB  [author] Apr 13, 2022 @ 11:32pm
@Royal-Guard-Reli: This one isn't new, it has been around for ages. It's still referred to as "imperium" in the game files, so I gather it's probably a holdover from Rome II.
SelectiveSocietalSanity Apr 13, 2022 @ 8:44am
Thanks.

What are CA thinking?
