I really like this CTA mod, however, Is it possible for the smoke canisters on the MBTs, APCs, etc. were like the real life works where they use white phosporous or smoke shells rather than just smoke appearing from the ground?

Good morning. Primarily addressing Yuri, but I appreciate the other two!

It's a war, not a Special Military Operation. Russia isn't winning strategically; the situation is stagnated, with only tactical-operational gains. There are no records of Russian 'bayonet charges.' Instead, they conduct assaults with light infantry, avoiding armored vehicles due to threats like AT systems, FPVs, and mines. Small groups (2-8 soldiers) moving according to terrain are less visible.

While recognizing the use of expendable troops who lack training and have poor contracts, I'm less interested in debating the issue and more interested in offering suggestions.

I can easily point out specific errors (like the BTR-82A, M10 issues) on a Discord server if possible, as it would be more convenient.

if you really want the feels the Russo-Ukranian War, you can try Code:X mod for Call to Arms Gates of Hell: Ostfront, the unit's are very very interesting and detailed (both on Russia and Ukraine side, also there's NATO too)

and yes some of the tactic are pretty much human wave (Donbass/Luhansk Militia, Storm Z and now Storm V), while supported by much professional forces (Guard, VDV, Spetnaz, North Korean troop, Serbian volunteer, Wagner, you named it), though you can entirely abandon the idea of human wave and goes only with professional forces (it can still work)

the unfortunate part of modding in the original Call to Arms is that "there's a lot to be desired, but it can't be changed due to in-game feature that are hard coded", the upside though? way more fucking modded map, Ostfront doesn't have any expert modders that's capable of expertly making maps

You just summed up what the Russian forces had been doing in their Special Military Operation. Are they winning or gaining? Sure. The cost? Sent a lot of soldiers into a human wave while their more veteran units are the exploitation forces. Can they afford that? Yes. Russia has never been a "quality over quantity" force to begin with.

in regards to the ranging of the vehicles weapons there isnt alot to do other than activate the extended range addon in the warfighter directory, and there is only so much you can do with the Russian forces while sticking to realism before balance, and everyone is designed around the equipment being fielded right now in the ruso ukraine war. ill leave the MBT,s and BTR to someone else in the mod team to answer as im not too sure about them, but with the wave tactics. the russians have used them multiple times such as the battle of bakhmut and has been cited by multiple veterans and ON VIDEO of them using them.

Well, playing the mod again, I ran into a few unfortunate things, but nothing too egregious. The M10 Booker is simply broken, especially regarding its protection. The engagement distance is not proportional to the map size; therefore, if you pick a very large map, your vehicles will be useless until they enter an X range (usually below 300).

The Russians have many interesting units, but for the most part, they are nothing more than units without major modifications, becoming merely an aesthetic complement. A practical example is the tanks with cage armor, the addition of command units, reconnaissance units, specialized teams, mounted howitzers, etc... There is a lot of redundancy in both equipment and manpower. In another hand, the Naval Infantry and national guard units are really cool!

It's been a few weeks since I played CTA or WarFighter, but the last time I played, I was really bothered by a few things.

The Russian forces have basically turned to garbage. The infantry is horrible (even the VDVs, only the SFs are "decent"), the BTR-82 no longer has thermals, its HE ammo load is minimal, and it has no APFSDS, only the old APs from the BTR-80A. The MBTs remain the same as always, but it's shocking that any RPG grenade can pierce any part of the tank, even those with Kontakt or Relikt (I'm saying this head-on!), and when left alone (controlled by the AI), they can't do the basics, something that doesn't happen with the enemy AI in other vehicles.

I played the new campaign, thought it was pretty cool, and even tried to understand the "FPV" mechanics, but it's worse than the Javelin's. The campaign also conveys a very stupid and outdated idea that the Russians work with numbers, human waves, and deadly orders that have no tactical or operational value.

The breeds that are Sturmoviki from Storm Z used to be just better Kontraktniki. So I most likely forgot to update the Russian infantry roster for GRM.

@Kazusa You can either change you game version to Beta, or enable Co-op mode while in your conquest prep screen and when you join the MP Lobby, you can disable the friendly AI that way.

You can find the addon folder within the mod directory in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\302670\2777685314\

(In other words, where your Steam Workshop directory is and then the mod directory. If you install the game and mod outside of C: directory, then all this stuff would be located in whatever local disk/external hardrive directory you've installed in)

is the 2s25m supposed to be amphibious because whenever i put it in the water it just sink and drive on the sea floor. also in the future i think some more amphibious or just specialised vehicles should be added to existing factions, mostly germany because there factions is a bit untouched

if you were to add an oceanic nation what would it be though (if its Australia then you'd technically be adding my home new Zealand as well because of the ANZAC) but i mean a standalone new Zealand would be awesome but we don't actually use tanks or jet aircraft we use Texan II'S and trust me i have no clue why but where a pretty skilled country. ignore my bias
