If anyone did not know, ladders not being climbable is not a bug or an oversight, it is a choice made by the devs. They feel letting you escape up ladders is too easy.

so Instead of begging the mod maker to update, how about sending an email to the game devs telling them that having ladders in the game but not being able to climb them is turning you off the game because of the sheer retaardation of it all? if they get enough emails they may finally cave and make it a thing like it should have been 10 years ago.

We need an update, I hope co's updates it, or PZ finally gets climbable ladders in vanilla.

i cannot beleive it, there is a ladder in my house leading to the attic but there is no way i can use it . if i want to have acces to it i'll have to craft stairs or wait until the devs add a climbing mechanic ':( please update your mod we need you

@The_Forged you are 100% right! But isn't it crazy that we still need this mod and this function is still missing in the vanilla? I mean come on, devs can open Workshop too, sort mods by popularity and add KEY features to the game... Modders have their own lives as you said and they may not even upgrade due to many reasons.

This is a complicated mod and B42.13 is a hotmess, please wait a week or two for modders to update. They have lives like most of us. On the otherhand, playing vanilla should give you a chance to improve your skills further. Thank you for loving these mods and this game, please be patient.

Is there a fix to climbing down the ladders?

Same thing is happening to me now. In the fire station, I can climb up the firepole but cannot climb down, both holding E and right clicking. Right clicking works for climbing up as well.

Right click zomboid, launch options type -debug, go in game and turn on god mode to run off

really cool mod which should be a vanilla feature but I also cant climb down on B42 so im currently stuck on a roof with no tools and its raining xd

Recently I moved to B42, I installed the Estate 39 map that it's just above rosewood, it has 2 buildings which the main one has 2 story ladders and the other one which is a Garage has a 1 story ladder, I tried on both of them and I can go up no problem! the problem is... in coming back down, for some reason I can't go down, It doesn't matter if I press E a bunch of times, it just moves me to the left side tile (No stairs there) and nothing happens, not even through the right click menu, which shows up as a Rope, I can't go back down, without risk of injury. (I didn't have this problem in B41, so I assume this just a problem with B42 players)

Dizarus: Actually, I love the idea, but considering all the bugs in the climbing mechanisms at the moment in the vanilla version of the game, I wouldn't dare trying to implement what you're suggesting.

What about climbable chains? Make them be unable to be destroyed but make noise when used.

Personally I've not had any problems with this mod besides the fact for some reason it makes Lifestyle paintings climbable and janks up their placing. ( At least assuming on placement part due to fact can climb up them.)

Mostly fixed it by tossing it with lower priority but it's still funny af how you can end up climbing a whole building aswell.

Also, I always used E to go up or down which is why I can't relate to when people complain about not being able to go down ladder or 'falling', I don't trust the zomboid walk movements.

Oxymoron@ thank you i was just about to complain that i lost a character to the ladders due to not being about to climb down using the right click menu and i fell off but you leaving this review will help me in future runs

To anyone having trouble getting down the ladder using the right-click menu... that's why I came here, and only afterwards did I realize holding 'E' at the top had my character go down.
Logged out and activated debug mode because I was going to try and oil the gears, but then I held the activate key and my dude just sort of... climbed down.
Deactivated debug and tested to make sure. Worked. Hope the same is true for whoever comes here looking

for real just climbed onto a roof and now i broke my leg getting down because i couldnt use the ladder going back down

Logging out and in fixed it. I am now on ground floor. I will be more careful not to interact with keys while climbing lol

Got stuck mid way climbing down a ladder. Partial user error as I accidentally hit a directional key while climbing, but I can't figure out how to get unstuck. Character is in falling animation floating above ground and right click acts as if on ground level but won't move or take action just stuck. Logging in and out to see if it fixes it.

Was having issues going down the ladder at the crossroads between Muldraugh and West Point, Molan's Used Cars. Had to jump down, break my leg and die because of that...

Have not tried other ladder because of that. It might be an issue with other ladders too. And it also states "climb sheet rope" not ladder. Looks like everyone has the same issue, so I guess it just broken...

I'm talking about crafted ladders that I placed, not existing. Its not player error, there is a problem with the mod.

@Vengent Not all ladder work, like airport's silo in louisville doesn't work, or maybe another mod is in conflict with it. And also check your position when you try to go down.

@excs doesn't work for me. Can't right click either, it has a sheet rope option, but it just does a stutter animation, then refuses to go down.

@Chronoveil @Clausewitz @Vengent Hi just use E or the action key and stay push on it like you used it for pass a windows. Use down key for go down or cancel it with up key. Remember keep the button press in continue for use the climb.

I'll throw my hat in the ring as well, it seems climbing down is broken. I remember that I used to have to climb up before you can climb down, but it now seems that doesn't fix the collision on the top floor.

I was able to get the progress bar to pop up on the top floor by going into combat stance and then trying to interact with the pole, but it only pops up for a second or so and then goes away and nothing happens.

i used "E" as default tried to change it to"F" and "." but it didn't change a thing sadly
