A sallet is a great idea!
As for the mittens, yes, you need to have gloves on in order to wear the plate mittens, as they are just plate armor without the lining.
The alternative was to have gloves be required in the recipe to craft the plate mittens, but I opted for just requiring gloves to be worn, acting as that liner.

You're most likely right, I'll take a look at the values this morning and likely adjust.
Found the issue. Pushing a fix shortly.
A lot of blacksmithing logic was implemented in B42, and I am going to be reworking the crafting system for this mod to work with the new smithing system.
Because of this, I've determined that I'm likely going to wait until stable is released, because it looks like they are still finishing up some of the smithing logic, and I would rather build off of the stable platform for smithing rather than an unfinished one, which will end up creating more work in the long run, as well as very likely a poorer product.
- Fixed issue with disable weapon loot mod extension causing no recipes to spawn.
- Added armor/traits as follows:
Armor Historian Trait (Similar to weapons historian but for armor.)
Buhurt Practicioner Trait (Start with armor/sword - is expensive, may need to be tuned)
Gambeson (3 colors)
Chainmail Hauberk
Coat of Plates
Bascinet / Hounskull Bascinet / Klappvisor Bascinet
Great Helm / Blackened Great Helm
Kettle Helm
Bucket Helm
Plate Cuirass
Plate Pauldrons
Rerebraces
Plate Couters
Vambraces
Plate Mittens
Plate Leggings
Sabatons
The additional chainmail pieces that I intended to include are going to need to be postponed, due to the jankiness of armor/clothing layering and masking. Clothing pieces do not enjoy being stacked realistically in zomboid, and I would like to have the masks on the armor be aligned with vanilla so that blood splatters and such things function correctly.
But I dont see why a dude that knows about armor wouldn't do this in a zombie apocalypse. Seems like the easy solution to our problems.
I found the culprit, mis-spelling in the recipes for those items (long metal shaft and assemble hewing spear) Fixed now, and will be uploading shortly!
As for the weapon skills. I will update the recipes to include their respective skills.
I do my best! Just pushed the changes, as soon as the automated steam workshop safety check is done it should be available.
