the templar i recruited through covert actions doesnt have the shield ability, and as far i can see nothing else i have should be affecting templar abilities.

Any of y'all encoutnered this?
I suspect it might be caused by equipping the one-handed gauntlet and swapping to regular but not sure why its persisting since i never went into battle wtih just one
Rurumeto Jun 30, 2024 @ 4:47am
dude wanted a templar with a shield and no sword

@Giggles It's dealing with people like you that make people quit modding.
Giggles Dec 8, 2023 @ 8:48pm
No need to get defensive, I was just inquiring about compatibility between your mods.
Iridar  [author] Dec 8, 2023 @ 4:52pm
If I'd be doing mod requests of everyone who asks, that's all I'd be doing 24/7.
Iridar  [author] Dec 8, 2023 @ 4:51pm
@Giggles
There are no animations for the shield on the right arm.

> Why not have a comparability mode to generate on the right arm?
Seems one hundred percent pointless to me, I don't know why you're so insistent about wanting for compatibility between two philosophically incompatible mods, but it's just not gonna happen, unless you learn modmaking and do it yourself or something.
Giggles Dec 8, 2023 @ 4:27pm
Why not have a comparability mode to generate on the right arm? Or in your One Hand mod, have a left arm gauntlet option? Or honestly just a toggle in the config to make it work for those that don't care about nitpicking visuals
Iridar  [author] Dec 8, 2023 @ 4:57am
@Giggles
Is this not obvious? One Handed Templar removes the left arm. This shiels is generated by the gauntlet on the left arm. How do you expect them to work? I mean, maybe they're not even hard incompatible, but there's no way it's not gonna look dumb.
Giggles Dec 8, 2023 @ 4:53am
I looked at the config, how would I go about adding compatability between your One Hand gauntlet with this mod?
Giggles Dec 8, 2023 @ 4:51am
(having read compatability) Is there a particular reason why the shield won't work with your One Handed Templar mod? Not only is it a usable ability, but it also plays out the full animation when used.
HatefulBadger Nov 20, 2023 @ 6:29pm
damn
Iridar  [author] Nov 20, 2023 @ 5:10pm
No.
HatefulBadger Nov 20, 2023 @ 1:07pm
Is there a way to remove all the new animations, id prefer just having the ability without having the shield staying out.
追风少年 Mar 23, 2023 @ 7:26pm
@lridar
Yes,I am playing lwotc,so that's the reason. Thank you for pointing that out
Iridar  [author] Mar 20, 2023 @ 10:28pm
@追风少年
You're playing Long War of the Chosen.
追风少年 Mar 20, 2023 @ 7:26pm
My Templar has a shield instead of a skill as described

Сочувствую, но я тут ни при чём.

Look: I was disabling all mods except the basic ones and noticed a difference in the templar gloves. When he gets an additional concentration (more than two units maximum), there is nothing suspicious in the description of the gloves. But when I connect everything else, there is a yellow inscription in the description: "arcthrower". And after that, the templar remains without the arcthrower

Hi, I came across an incomprehensible thing, concentration does not give bonuses to damage https://prnt.sc/sK4L-SyMVWg5
Iridar  [author] Jan 28, 2023 @ 8:54pm
@MrCloista
Didn't think anyone would want to use both on one character. Uploading a fix, should take effect starting with the next tactical.
MrCloista Jan 28, 2023 @ 4:13pm
@Iridar I've got a bug to report - When using the setting to prevent Templar Shield replacing Parry, it works in the classdata, however, if the Templar takes both perks, Parry is still replaced by Templar Shield and is unusable.
Iridar  [author] Jan 3, 2023 @ 9:32am
The shield effect in this mod is part of the base game, it's used by Templars for Deflect, Reflect and Parry abilities.
hemajoshi🩸 Jan 3, 2023 @ 9:30am
can i get a purely visual version of this mod? it looks really cool.
little_tornado Nov 29, 2022 @ 9:13am
Update to my long, long ago bug report:
The issue I appear to be having is that Parry isn't being overwritten.
Templar shield is present (And mods like "Autopromote" will select it as "Option 0"), but I specifically cannot see it on the promotion screen.

This is no fault of this mod- I'm currently working out how to check if any mods are screwing with Templar's tree to see if they're re-adding Parry over the top of Shield, or something stupid like that. If anyone knows how to do tell me, but the issue isn't with this mod.

Thank you for listening to me rant about my problems >.>
Fernando Nov 9, 2022 @ 12:09pm
That was a quick reply, thank you.
But yeah, it seems that was the issue, though I couldn't figure out exactly what I did wrong. To fix it, I nuked LWOTC and resubscribed, resetting the .ini and started over. It worked.
Iridar  [author] Nov 9, 2022 @ 5:02am
Most likely you made a typo somewhere in XComClassData.ini
Fernando Nov 9, 2022 @ 4:53am
So, I got it working with LWOTC according to Cyñical and Ragnakore's instructions, but a weird problem arose - all skills from the Adept tier that are visually below this one (from the Sage, XCOM and Pistol lines) have disappeared. Can anyone tell what I did wrong, or how to fix it?
Iridar  [author] Apr 22, 2022 @ 12:12pm
No.
EraserBBY Apr 22, 2022 @ 10:20am
is there a way to remove this mid game after installing it and not have any consequences? Thanks for the help in advnace btw.
RatboyW Apr 16, 2022 @ 11:09am
Keep in mind that Templars in LWOTC/Mod Jam are balanced around having their shield, so further tweaks and ability swaps may be needed to keep them working correctly/balanced properly. This just gets this mod active, nothing more.
RatboyW Apr 16, 2022 @ 11:09am
Can confirm that editing the Xcomclassdata.ini works though! You'll have to access that file in LWOTC's folder, disable access to shields at the top of the Templar's entry, then simply swap out "ShieldBash_LW" with "IRI_TemplarShield". If you have Kiruka's Faction Soldier overhaul, do the second step with the ini in that mod's folder instead (or do it in both, if you're paranoid I guess lol).

If your Templar already exists in your game though, they'll still have the shield equipped because they already had it in the slot, and I'm not sure how to remove that. I didn't have a Templar before testing so I'm not sure what the best method would be, but I suggest using console commands to swap their class to something else and back to Templar, which should refresh their loadout, or maybe other commands will do the trick. Probably an easier way to do it, but idk.
RatboyW Apr 16, 2022 @ 9:55am
In case anybody else was waiting for this to be included in LWOTC, just got confirmation from one of the devs that there's no plans to do so atm. It's included in the experimental/dev build, but no plans for the main Steam version
little_tornado Mar 27, 2022 @ 9:07am
That might actually explain my issue- some other mod I have might be overriding ClassData. thank you!
1BS Mar 26, 2022 @ 7:26pm
@ragnakore

sorry for too much comments.

It worked. now I can see templar shield in skill tree. I just edited kiruka's soldier faction Xcomclassdata.ini. as well.

However, bulky shield is still there. I can't remove it.

Do you have any idea?
1BS Mar 26, 2022 @ 5:29pm
@ragnakore

Hi ragnakore.

I did what you have said. But nothing changed. Templar still equipped a Bulky shield.

I have changed XcomClassData.ini and I have uncommented what you said.

Of course, shieldbash ability is activated.(shieldbash ability is still there)

Could you give me any idea?

Thank you in advance.
1BS Mar 26, 2022 @ 4:27pm
@ragnakore

Thank you very much. I love Iridar's work but I would like to use this mod with Lwotc. Now I can thanks to you.

And Thank you for making Great mod Iridar!
Melun Mar 16, 2022 @ 5:53am
@Iridar OH that's what that's for! Thank you so much!
Iridar  [author] Mar 15, 2022 @ 11:49pm
@Melun
You can use Boundir's Ability Editor to change ability costs.
Melun Mar 15, 2022 @ 8:48pm
Hi, is there any way to make this a free action thru ini edits? ty in advance
BurgerKing Feb 19, 2022 @ 3:32am
PS. I added the sidearm back as a secondary weapon by uncommenting this too:

;-AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_SecondaryWeapon, WeaponType="sidearm")
BurgerKing Feb 19, 2022 @ 3:11am
I got it to work with LWOTC.

I edited the LW's classdata, replaced the shield bash skill with Parry at first (did not work). Then just replaced it with IRI_TemplarShield.

Templar uses Right Hand to Rend, and Left Hand to wield shield (if activated).

Much much beautiful!
solosochi Jan 29, 2022 @ 8:48am
Спасибо буду ждать.
Iridar  [author] Jan 29, 2022 @ 5:39am
@solochi
Добрый. Пока никак, ждите пока разработчики LWOTC сами сделают.
solosochi Jan 29, 2022 @ 3:05am
BurgerKing Jan 22, 2022 @ 7:01pm
I like this idea of using the shard as shield instead of carrying a heavy shield like in LWOTC. will wait for that version!

PS: Once I sent my templar to rend an enemy the computer froze for several seconds. And when it came back the templar dashed forward at lightning speed - the optics was great!

Request: Create a mod that forces templar to Dash into an enemy when rending.
Rusty | SkyPaladin Jan 17, 2022 @ 1:47pm
I much prefer your psi shields to the bulky rubbish they carry in LWOTC
Iridar  [author] Jan 16, 2022 @ 11:01am
@Circle of Psi
Standard templar animations will be used while Templar Shield is active, and the shield will clip into templar's body.
Iridar  [author] Jan 16, 2022 @ 10:32am
@little_tornado
Then I don't know. Like I said, works fine on my end. It shouldn't matter whether the Templar is acquired by Templar Ally or any other way.
little_tornado Jan 16, 2022 @ 10:29am
I'm aware it's supposed to replace parry- However for my setup is isn't doing that. Parry appears as normal and functions as normal.
