In the meantime, for sure! You are more than welcome to upload your own version if you like. All my Zomboid mods are made for the community. For fun and for learning mods. So I don't mind at all when someone makes changes and uploads their own version. I'm just happy people like them :)

I had the problem that the game always crashed with the Map
Workshop ID: 2719327441
Mod ID: Barco Abandonado.
I checked it intensively and found out that it was due to this mod.
The reason for this is. If there is no outside area in a cell except for water,
then player:getCell():getRandomOutdoorTile() causes the game to crash.

I have created a customized version for myself, but would not make it public without your permission.

Phew! I finally got my own game finished and released on Steam. Now that I have more free time I got that Zomboid itch that needs a'scratchin! I think in hindsight my feelings were more of a me problem now that I have time to breathe. I also know that some people from here supported my game's Early Access and I wanted to say "thank you" somehow. So consider these mods back in action! I've got to get familiar with the new mod procedures and then everyone can expect updates. Maybe even some new mods! Stay alive out there o/

Dear fellow survivors,
There was a problem with the build 42 installation and my workshop folder got wiped. So a lot of my Zomboid stuff is just gone. I'm sure I have some backups on my old laptop but I'm gonna be honest... I was already pretty disappointed in build 42 and looking at the amount of work I'm gonna have to do to update all my mods and get back into the swing of things... I'm just not interested. I'm genuinely sorry to anyone that likes my work and is excited for build 42 but we are talking like 300+ hours of work for a game I don't even play anymore. Other modders are more than welcome to update, use, or re-make any of my mods. Maybe I will be back one day when they release build 42 multiplayer. Until then, good luck and stay safe!

Turns out this one doesn't work with the Darkness fog event. Just FYI for anyone else trying to combine the two.

cool mod but does not work in my multiplayer set up. might be a mod conflict im not sure as i have no console errors, it just doesn't work as intended

Have you tried running this mod along side something like Authentic Z? This looks very promising!

I'm still looking into the spawning oddities. This is something I need to figure out for more than just this mod, because I have a few mods that spawn zeds and I've noticed all sorts of little oddities from plugin-spawned zeds. Nothing really game-breaking but definitely noticeable. I'll figure it out.

Okay so! I got the update in finally. Players should now have sandbox options available for this mod. Min/Max spawn range option and how thick the fog should be option. It was set to 0.7 by default but for maximum immersion a good ol' 1.0 full fog works best. Only down side is you'll hit 0.7 more often than 1.0 unless you have a weather mod that gives you thick fog more often. Hope this helps!

I believe the author is aware of that issue and is working on a fix whenever possible. Unfortunately there's no ETA on that due to life reasons.

Two things I'm worried about with this mod: Zombies spawning right on top of players (I'd prefer at least to set a distance like 20 tiles), and zombies spawning in quick secession so you get overwhelmed before you can deal with the first group (we play with sprinters so 4 zombies is already alot to handle let alone 8+ at once)

Much appreciated for the response! Completely understandable though. Most modders aren't getting paid for these so life and other more important things definitely gets in the way.

As far as the wonky zeds go, I'm sure we can tolerate them so long as they spawn from a reasonable distance haha!

@Yocas - This mod simply reads how thick the fog is and then reacts accordingly so it *should* work with any other mods that create fog. I'll upload the update as soon as I can. I started on it last month then life got in the way again, as it does. I'll try to finish it up tonight.

I know what you mean about the spawned zeds acting wonky. I think they changed something about how zeds spawn. I noticed that zeds spawned by command instead of naturally have a number of noticeable differences. They also don't seem to react to kill commands like regular zeds do. I'm looking into it.

From what I've experienced last night, it does work on MP. However the zombies seem to be spawning out of thin air right next to players which kind of ruins the immersion. If there was some way to adjust the distance for where they spawn this mod would be much much better.

Also for some reason the bodies of the ambushers dont have a corpse pop up in the inventory screen and sometimes move/twitch around after they're dead.

Also, did that patch that you mentioned that was supposed to allow us to set the range and number of zombies ever get released? I didn't see the options in the sandbox settings.

Love the idea of this mod! I have a question in regards to compatibility though.

There's another mod called called Darkness is Coming that spawns fog and causes the world to go dark for the duration of the event. I'm wondering if these two mods would conflict or if I can change some settings for the two to work.

Cool. No worries. I'm not sure what may be causing it, sorry. I was only bushed twice and both were while I was inside a car. Bad luck. Sandbox options are a great addition. Happy holidays, thanks for updates

@Biggles - It does work in multiplayer. It should be 3 events per player.

@Rose - That's an interesting idea. I will look into it but no promises.

@BargainSale- I'm working on an update now. I was not able to reproduce your bug where zombies spawned while in a vehicle and that was on a server with 148 other mods running so I'm not sure which of your mods might be causing that. Or possibly just bad luck zombies wandering by in a fog? Either way, I'm going to attach a sound effect to the spawns in this update for the jump scares and to help detect if/when this mod is spawning your zombies.

I'm glad you said something because they are actually not supposed to spawn if you are in a building or in a vehicle. That might be they they spawned in too close, too. I'll get a fix ready.

Is it possible to add a minimum radius in which the zombies can spawn? I was inside my car waiting for the rain and fog to pass and they just spawned around the car. I think it would be better if they spawn a bit further away and went straight to you. Like if they suddenly came from just outside your vision

Little late on the reply here but:

@Biggles - It works for multiplayer and triggers pr player. So each player outdoors in the fog is susceptible to the event.

@Rose - I think you can already do that in your game settings. Turn all the zombie count settings down and set zombies to never respawn. The mod should take care of the rest because it spawns new zombies rather than calling ones that are already there.

Is there plans of a version of this that makes it so zombies only spawn in the fog but spawn as per their normal spawns?

I'm bad at wording.
Basically No Fog = No Zoms
Fog = Zoms visible and where they'd normally be spawned at based on Pop settings?

Like the movie The Mist I guess?

I am working hard an update for my indie game. @Fault code - I think so but it might double spawn on you. If I remember right, "Deadly Fog" is the one that spawns a big horde of zombies from a red mist. This mod checks the fog level then spawns zombies just far enough away that the thick fog hides them from breaking immersion. So it will probably spawn a "From the Fog" group at the same time the "Deadly Fog" goes off. (If you are standing outside, that is. I think "Deadly Fog" spawns even if you are inside and they spawn farther away.)

especially if the fog keeps going on for days or weeks
something like giving player some respite
if he survives multiple days in row of attacks from fog ...
