It'd be cool to see Haesteinn act like he did in CK2 where he actually attacks random people. Even him trying to invade France, possibly succeeding or failing & then attacking Wessex would make WAY more sense and actually reflect the history somewhat.

@Kaiser Wilhelm Society that title is used when AI characters Adventure using the Scandinavian Adventures mechanic (different from the Adventures a player can launch since the AI doesn't do those.) I don't think it usually selects landed rulers, so he probably got kicked out of France at some point prior.

Imagine you are the ghost of Haersteinn and someone in heaven/hell tells you there are people who recreated you in a 21st century computer game ("computer, what's that, a computer?") to memorize your deeds end up with burning you and your offspring in effigie to keep you from doing what you did. Priceless.

I gave the 867 playthrough a try after seeing this mod a few days ago, and paid a close eye on Haesteinn, while playing as poland. He somehow swapped his primary title to "Jarl Haesteinn of Northmen Army" and pillaged prussia and lithuania. I then married my offspring into his dynasty to prevent invasion, and within four seconds it was for not as he died, his event troops despawned, and the entire empire split into counties. This mod might be a godsend

Y'all keep naming the numerous stuff he did, and I'm even more convinced he shouldn't be killed off.

@GabeC1997, he existed, but he was nowhere near as powerful as Paradox makes him seem, essentially all he did was kill Robert the Strong, ally with the Bretons against the French (they got owned), then joined in the Danish invasion of Wessex where he had a middling impact.

Wait, this guy actually existed historically? I always thought he was someone at Paradox's shitty Self Insert.

For me he always dies under 5 years by King Charles murdering him, so he never causes much damage. I generally play Norse anyway so he's actually more help by weakening West Francia before I start my Varangian Invasion of Normandy.

This dude has to be an oversight. Just started a new game and he immediatly attacked East Francia with 33 in martial and 3760 troops from his 1 county with wooden barracks.

If you play with a country close to him you can destroy him i do it with Asturias everytime.

I only once had Hæsteinn not die early in a playthrou I guess. He fucked up France, but that was conveniet since I play Bavaria and was about to conquer Germany. So France was too weak to be a threat.
But I seem to be lucky in that case, good to know that there is a mod that deals with him

Awesome idea for a mod. At first, I thought through happenstance this NPC did you wrong in a game, and this was a way of getting petty revenge. However, it seems you have valid reasons for this.

I am curious what happens when you play as Hæsteinn with this mode active.

Thank you so much for this. I'm tired of seeing him being the REASON the Crusades are called because he happened to take either Santiago, Kent or if he's really feeling cheeky Cologne. Every time I play 867 and I see the crusades notification, I know that I forgot to kill Haesteinn early. Again, thank you for this.
