Still working fine, using this in my own dino update playthrough - spun it up and tested just now again. panels still rotatable, light passes through, power is generated.

Games crashes every time..

This mod crashed my game when I tried to build solar panels, so i turned off the mod, built the solar panels and turned the mod back on and game crashed when I loaded my save. Any idea what mods this could be conflicting with?

Verified working as intended 29/06/2024 with current steam release version.

Suggest checking for mod conflicts and verifying lumens on the asteroid you're building them on is sufficient to support solar panels (hint: some aren't bright enough for good output levels)

Not working. Crashes/Panels don't produce much electricity.

Photovoltaics are cool as heck! In the future, we'll be able to have buildings that are art installations as well as electricity generators - photovoltaics on coloured glass panels allowing generation of electricity from complex stained glass murals or architecture. The possibilities are frankly beautiful, and I see no reason why it would be 'illogical' to imagine that the ONI solar panels use photovoltaic coated glass as opposed to the panels we have strapped to various rooftops now, making this mod a lot more plausible than, say, teleporters.

Nothing about ONI is close to real life. Do I think this is a silly mod? Yes, it overpowers solar even more. But to ever say it's not like real life and you are playing ONI is just as silly.

@Oxamus I would suggest you check if there are other mods also affecting the solar panels, or mods that change some of the behaviour of lighting. There have been no changes made to the output of solar panels. They use the default calculations based on the light level of every tile in their footprint. If you are getting a super low output like this, you may be on an asteroid with weaker sunlight (yes, each asteroid has different sunlight levels). You can check this in the light overlay by looking at lux values.

Think is isnt working as intended, panels are only producing like 15-40watts

I like your responses

Thanks to those who have tried and enjoyed it :) Also, Photovoltaic glass is probably the most cutting-edge new solar panel technology that promises to be a game-changer in expanding the scope of solar. It is essentially transparent solar panels that look just like a sheet of glass. Pretty cool stuff if you want to have a look into it.

But solar panels are not transparent in real life lmao, they are 1.8 meters large pieces of hardware with metal frames and plastic bottoms with cables underneath

This looks cool! I will try it out. Thank you!

If you're having trouble with the logic, they aren't stacked obscuring each other, but rather just look that way when viewed from our orthographic perspective and offset towards/away from the camera.

It's part of balance and also basic logic, if something intercepts and absorbs light then the light dose not pass through it. This is as nonsensical as 'kill your Hatch for meat without it dying'
