my life turned pretty much upside down in the meantime, neither did i have time to play RW nor to learn modding it... xd
but maybe i can pay someone soon to do it!
Oddness thanks for the mod I hope you get some free time soon
You could also try asking the creator of the Clan Malkavian mod. Last I looked they had updated their mod, and could probably give you more pertinent advice. Their mod does pretty much the same thing this one does, though I don't think that it was open source, so you'd have to ask in the comments.
The original mod designer changed the way that they handle references (Nuget, I think?). I looked into it a bit, but I was having a problem changing it myself, as it's an unfamiliar problem. I'm self taught in c#, and spend most of my time in Unity these days (When I'm not working 14+ hours a day), so I kind of put this project to the side.
In short, I couldn't work up that stubborn persistence that keeps a project going.
To learn the basics, it was a combination of a basic understanding of coding (Which you seem to have), a lot of Googling, though I don't remember the sites I used, and looking at other people's open source work.
If someone else has already done it, I won't repost, and will probably take this mod down to avoid confusion, because I'd rather see the idea handled by someone who will actually maintain it, and I'm not that person.
during 1.3, i had fondled around a bit in the code to create my veryown style of vamps, named caitiff but with specific skillsets; all i used was the windows .txt editor
@Oddness: how did you get into the basics? i'm struggling to find a point to begin with modding, have done .ini edits (C&C, SMAC) & C++ with a UI (wc3 mapeditor) half of my life, maybe i'd be a good scholar if someone took me a bit by the hand ;p
doesn't help much that i have WalkingProblem since ages on my friendslist as he's so superbusy irl that he stopped playing & modding years ago :')
You say in the description that you reference to the Malkavian clan, this is already updated to 1.4, can it serve as an example to update this? It's an idea.
I'll update the mod next time I have some free time, and have an interest. Alternately, I'm not possessive of this mod. Anyone who wants to update it and re-post it is more than welcome to do so.
You don't have to credit me. It genuinely doesn't matter to me. It's not a very complicated sub-mod, and took a few hours for me to write, once I learned the basics.
The source code is in there.
I think that Lenny is correct about the fix, but let me know if that doesn't fix it for you, and we'll see what we can do.
@Lennybolt7 Thanks Lenny. Everything's working for you, right?
I am still having issues with feeding, my vampire is not able to feed on any one :/ do I need to do something special to get the fix?
i actually have to say "thank you, mate!" because your mod led me to places where i've never been - the folders! xD
not sure if i want to play an updated version, as i've created my very own race of vamps in the .dll's ^^'
enjoying i am the mod alot, just a bit sad that the generation-thingy doesn't work out as it should if i use character editor to start a new colony - i have to gamble ingame until i get the desired generation (it's okay tho, just a couple of minutes)
if i had the time to get into modding, i'd add the necromancy clan and probably some others later on, would even have someone that'd do the graphics for that; maybe later in 2022 :P
@Others - I didn't respond to the comments below, because I don't know, and I haven't been working on Rimworld in a while. I've been playing around with Unity though, so when I come back, I'll have a much better grasp of C#, and be able to do some cooler stuff / maybe have some answers to existing problems within the base vampire mod.
However, I don't know if it also happens with the required Vampires mod or if it is because of another mod I am using, but word of warning to those who are using the Medpod mod. If my vampire takes damage and I let them use the medpod, it cures them of their vampirism.
So unless a player has either saved before the conflict or has a way to modify the character, you can and will lose your vampire stats and abilities until you turn them again.
Whatever you do, don't swap the .dll anymore, because that will revert you back to the initial release, and I've changed a few things since then.
I hope this helps, and I hope you're enjoying the mod.
P.S.
The old way was to go into the Source folder, and there you'd see folders labeled something like 'Third_XP', 'Fifth_XP', and 'Full_XP', but that didn't last long because it was kind of a janky solution, which is why I fixed it ASAP.
i've changed the exp because i read somewhere how to do that, now i wish to reverse it and i can't find any of the folders anymore, not even my backup
-_-

I hope that you're enjoying the mod. Sorry it doesn't offer the feature you want. Take care.
P.S.
If you really want the feature, and you don't want to wait for someone, you could do what I did and learn how to mod. It'll drive you crazy for a bit, but you should get it eventually. I actually wanted someone to make this mod for a few years, but no one ever did, so I ended up doing it myself.
Your comment is ambiguous, so I'll answer both ways that I could interpret your question.
Yes. This mod includes a "clan". It introduces caitiff, which are clanless vampires. For purposes of this mod, it means that they can learn any discipline. You can play any clan you like though. The mod only adds an additional clan to the game, along with their 'clan weakness', which is that they receive less XP from feeding (change it in the menu if you don't like this).
The first will be vampirism, and then you'll see your pawn's generation. The clan, among other things is shown as a sub-category under those two fields.
That's actually functionality from the base mod, and I haven't taken the time to see how ti works.
This mod just hi-jacks their systems to add in an additional clan, but the actual implementation of the clan uses the same systems as "Rim of Madness - Vampires", so you'll have to ask on that mod page.
I always just start a new game, always use Prepare Carefully, and always give my chosen pawn the appropriate vampirism clan that I want to play.
Am I doing something wrong?
