You can have bigger maps but the hardcode limit is a little annoying. So its kinda working.

I've found out that it works with custom maps on specific occasions.
When starting a custom game, you have to manually press every civ you want in the game.

This mod sadly doesn't work anymore, also since it's the only one there is. When starting a game, it works well, until you get thrown out of the starting screen to a "disable mods, and go to lua.log". I really needed this mod for a map i was making. I really hope @Chesspro2007 comes back.

@ChessPro2007, what about making it like in Better Start mod? There CS is razed, if it doesn't match condition of minimum distance between civs.

Yes, that would be a great idea. Although, maybe there should be a checkbox for that, in the case that someone wants the standard behaviour with a large enough map size.

@Jack5, City states need to be a certain amount of tiles away from other city states and civs and when they can't go the distance away the game stops working. I think city states need around the same amount of tiles as civs but its just a lot easier to add them. I can edit the mod so that in smaller maps there is a smaller distance, should I attempt something like that?

This mod breaks whenever city-states are added to a small map, even if there are only a few of them. Why is that? Is it because city-states need to have a large amount of space between them and countries?

For some reason I don't have "configure" map. Have sliders though. Could be there any conflicts with better start mod?

@Deornwulf, It scales. It is based on the total size of the largest map divided on the amount of wonders on in. Then we can scale it up and down based on the number of tiles in each configuration.

When configuring map sizes, what instructions are given for the number of wonders allowed? Is it fixed to a particular map size or does it scale?

If it does not scale, would it be possible to allow that to be configured?

Probably a little late to the party, but disable either the barbarians tribes feature that Firaxis made or disable barbarians altogether. Might help a bit. I know AMD processors just can't run the official Firaxis expanded barbarians feature.

Been playing this mod co-op with buddy on 120 x 120 with no issues so far. He has an older system and it has been fine with the barbarians making city states like crazy still going good. (Turn 500 ish). But been trying to play single player and it keeps crashing, same map size but on continents and islands. Runs perfectly fine then the music skips a few times and the game just shuts off. Reload and get a few good turns then same thing. Have tried with a fixed number of city states and still does the same thing. Co-op game is on continents map type, gunna try that and see if it works normally. Definitely feels like there is issue here somewhere.

I think it is the map size if anything. My computer cannot handle sizes above 110 x 110. The game takes up too much space on the cpu and memory. I put the sliders at 144 x 144 for anyone who can. The mod doesn't edit anything else.

Im loving this mod, but it crashes the game. I used the sliders to make the max size map possible - only have 12 civs and 12 city states. 122 turns in and it has crashed like 10 times - im going to stop playing and go to bed as it crashes every 3-5 turns now. No cheats being used. If i don't choose this mod for the map size the game doesnt crash so it is definitely something to do with this mod. Thanks for any assistance.

Testing this mod on my next game, hope it will work. Man if that works you are the MVP of this year 2022, it's been ages since I want to do this (created some mods years ago) but I never found where is the data values of height and width for respective vanilla size in the game repertory, I assumed it was somewhere in the configuration folder since it's definitely not in gameplay's. Saw the insertions you make in the database on variables, but I'm still clueless so I would like to see what is the concerned file for the vanilla size ! Don't hesitate to tell me if you read this.

I really like this mod for the super large maps, I like to spread out and build a large empire. I have had issues with it though causing games to crash, not super large maps mind you, but sometimes even starting the game with this mod takes a few tries. Would be great if performance could be improved cause I really like this mod

@djjazzyjoyce I have not experienced any not normal crashes. Every map size loads (except really small sizes with a lot of players) and I have played through games with the biggest map size. The only crashes I have gotten are when I use a cheat mod to reveal the whole map early on, on the biggest size it has to reveal 20,736 tiles instantly. I have heard that in ynamp sizes like 160 by 160 don't load and 150 by 150 crashes in the late game, but I have yet to experience a crash. I haven't done a full play through but it seems the developers may have fixed it.

How are you getting around the crashes in later game? I have been away for a while, so if this was something that was fixed by the game developers in the last six months or so, I missed it. Thanks for any comments.

Thank you for this mod! I always thought the huge map was too small. Now this allows me to play the game I wanted. Tons of space and lots of other civs. Thank you again!
