Yes you do
I have them set that way as that is a job for engineers which can cut the wires when you select one and hover over the wire a icon pops up to cut the wire. I did not went every solider with a grenade be able to just blow up the wire but mainly to stop German mortars destroying all the wire.
It was to keep the player on the beach like it was in real life until engineers cleared a path.
Boats don't stop coming until you capture either 1 of the 3 WN Strong-points so you have a endless number of men and that solves the problem of not having enough men.
Once you start to take out German MGs, Guns, Men etc it starts to open the beach as they don't get reinforcements.
Really good some maps are finished the biggest as in number of WNs "Les Moulins Map" Is about 80% done.
Yes I will have to update over the buildings will have to replace them all :(
What do you mean? The mod file or the mission/map?
Can you give us some more information about these maps ?
BTW In June I was in Vierville-sur-Mer, stayed in a house, 50 metres from the church.
I was amazed how historically correct your map was !
No They had asked a week or so ago and I was okay with it its an old map and not my new ones. I have downloaded it myself and will see what they did with it the weekend.
I put it in the description now It is only single player.
I am using a old MSI Leopard 8RE Intel core i7 8th gen 16GB Ram about 7 years old run it on ultra settings only bit of lag i get is the start when the boats spawn in other than that it runs well.
I just have it hidden and plan on upgrading it with the new DLC
The mod is not dead, I'm just busy with work and finishing making all the draws for a Normandy Mission pack with the actual historically accurate layouts and bunkers etc.
is the mod dead?
Hi, I had see them on Instagram yesterday I use the same Ariel photos Michael uses, Michael enhances them with Photoshop so mite pick up things more than I mite normally trenches as they do be covered in a lot of areas and some bunkers I just cant make out for sure so wont add them and he will mostly point out things not known.
The tunnel leading from WN71/72 I mite be able to add it but mite not be able to will come back to that at the end. I knew it was always there just hard to add in the gem editor.
His map from his first one of the section couple of years ago to his new one has changed and added quite a bit. Not sure why he left that out the little slit opening attached from the tank wall to the 88mm bunker not sure it was ever used but it was 100% there from before/after pictures.
Hi yes, Its only tiny bit accurate in this map and actual map is a lot different and a lot more accurate.
Yes WW2TV with Paul, I watch his lives from time to time came accross him and Michael as a guest a few months ago and they talked about WN66/67/68 was very interesting and helped with some trenches beach level and the barbwire as always got that wrong.
I am not sure what to name it yet as I have not decided do I have it as its own section as its pretty far from St-Laurent-sur-Mer - les Moulins est Strong point so thats the only WN area im undecided rest are finally Section 1 = WN70,71,72,73 Section 2 =WN66,67,68,69 Section 3 = WN60,61,62.
So if I do give it its own section which is what im leaning to as there are 2 Strongpoints WN64/65
I would name that location one of the following Easy Red Sector, Ruquet valley or Easy-1 Exit Probably keep to the sector code names or the Exit Draw Names.
Which name will you give to your map ( with Wn65 ) ?
Hi,
I only uploaded it after your comment. Most of the WNs are already done except WN65/64, I am waiting to get a map layout of the defenses as not much information on WN65 mainly the position lower down at beach level was cleared by US Engineers pretty quick but a man called Michael Akkerman has created a map of the layout. I am waiting for him to release it on a YouTube live with WW2TV.
I only have to finish Vierville town as will be in the second mission after capturing the D1 Draw. I will have it made and ready to go when I start the map after the beach So only need to texture the area add details to some areas and make fields on this section.
Yes was finding pictures on those websites and deciding on trenches. I found really good Ariel photos, I added as the ground texture to place stuff and make it as accurate as possible and worst part about creating maps is the research takes most of the time trying to find a certain place etc.
I didn't noticed it in your screenshots earlier, I thought you were already making another part of Omaha Beach. But I see now in your screenshots that your making an update from the data of the mentioned websites and it looks very good !
With your skills , the creators (devs) of the game, should hire you to make original maps :-)
Would also be nice that somebody plays the scenario and put it on Youtube !
Enjoy making the map(s)
Yes I have that house added, Old screen shot I have i uploaded for you https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3173073334 and a bit behind to have the Small squad of rangers that scaled the cliffs between wn73/74 to attack from.
Yes I use that website alright was how I built the draw and its buildings and the walls with stairs. This website has a good map of its WN73 layout https://tabletopdeutschland.com/2021/12/13/omaha-beach-wn-73/ I used and added all the bunkers there. Most are still there today. I mite make the Maison Gambier house outa walls there is a map in the Multiplayer maps that used the walls to make a destroyed castle looks really well had made it with a mod but want to only used one mod for trenches less the better so will created it.
Yes the sea and such is not the weather been used, Just used it as a template. I will do them things last before I start placing units. Screenshot pics are filtered so colours show up darker.
Very nice pics !
BTW Apparantly there was also a welknown house " Maison Gambier" on the cliffs, visible from the sea. Maybe you know this website https://vierville.cordelle.eu/5731-DestrBatPrivMerDesc.htm
it's in French, but you can translate it with Google of course.
Just a minor thing, that I noticed, you have made a rather "dark sea" without any waves at the shore...
Yes it still did not exist by 1950 believe it was made when they started the caravan site, Its a small detail that everyone misses. There was only one exit at the D1 Draw and rest was made after the war or by the Americans after D Day to get equipment off the beach.
I added screenshots of WN71/72/73 to my personal screenshots so can have a look at how different it looks to sections of this map that people have created over the years. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3172470242
I looked it up and you are right, the path didn't exist at that time.
Looking forward to your next map !
Hi,
Behind the beach was not intended to be accurate was just from Hell Let Loose map. My new maps are as close you can get to real life granted from what is known from pictures, videos and Ariel maps.
Vierville was the best defended area of Omaha probably only Section that was mostly completed by D day they got taking from behind and a group of rangers that scaled the cliffs between WN73/74 attacking and taking out WN73 from behind.
WN68/6766 I have made its probably the biggest construction at any of the draws, But so little completed by D day most casements where empty half built etc. Ill make behind the beaches as follow on missions after I complete the beaches then they will be more accurate. I left out
Yes you are right was to delay the player getting off the beach and be left to the mercy of German defences until player made a break through using a engineer with wire cutters tobreak the wire can do so even when they are set to indestructible.
As for the path leading up to WN73 I am making a full Omaha map but cutting into 3 sections so have researched alot and found video/photos of the location of the Path you mention. It never existed before/on Dday was created after the invasion later on. What I have now is accurate but not as accurate as my new maps just did not want to have to mess to much with heights will add a screen shot of what it looks like on the new map will see the difference
Hi, Thanks beach area was just cut and pasted from my WIP maps/mission of all of Omaha Beach area and will be making a mission pack. That one is alot more realistic MGs will have 300-400 meter range not decided yet and used air photos of the WNs. Just added bits and bobs of it here see how it plays. Yes I just added that for the time been so player has to use Engineers more. Engineers can destroy it all they have wire cutters tanks did not play a big role at this section of the beach. Omaha was mostly a Infantry fight tanks support roles from reports of tankers them self's infantry did most of the work was late in the day before tanks even got off the beach.
I think that the barbed wire was made "indestructible" to make it what difficult, however a sapper can make holes in it. ( it's only at the coast, the rest of the barbed wire is "normal")
I've notice that the path/road to the bunker (Wn 73 ) is disapeared see the previous map.
Not yet completed but a fantastic map !
My only gripe is that the concertina wire isn't destructible and tanks can't push through it
