Okay, so I was wrong. Female character with only female voice activated still only uses the male voice when adding both IDs to the server list.

I love this mod and still use it in my server today. Can confirm that male sounds work, but haven't played a female to test yet. I'll do that and update with another comment soon. From what I understand, it's as simple as adding both mod IDs to your mp server, then go to your main menu > mods > then, as stated above, only select ONE of the sounds. I have gal sounds deactivated with guy sounds activated, so I only hear guy sounds. I'll make the switch and let everyone know if I'm wrong or not.

They sound terrible in my opinion, but I'm glad it's making the experience better for other people.

How unfortaunte but i fully understand don't worry about it too much if its a hassle i'm no coder or moder afterall was just hopeful is all :).

Perhaps in the future it might be possible by the game devs or by another one day :P

Afraid not, this is just a single line of code to replace one set of sounds with a different set, it was never intended for multiplayer.

The two packs are in conflict with each other as well so that's why you should enable one: you only ever hear one version because it would load one mod and then the second one would just overwrite it.

Is there way to seperate the male and female sounds i added both to my server but my girl sounds like a man?.

Like would it be possible to add a option when making your character as a drop down option like picking your hair type or clothes for example that has one of two options?.

So when we are playing each one of us will have a different sound and what would be even better if we are able to hear players gender surprise gasp so if my friend who is a guy and myself a girl next to him we both happen to be surprised at the same time then he can hear me and i can hear him.

It won't get confusing due to you knowing you sound like your gender voice since you would hear it more often on your own if anyone worried about that :).

This is a super simple mod that's just pretending to be complex. All it does is replace the stinger sound files with other sound files.

Default behaviour: when the game thinks a zombie has surprised the player, it plays a sound randomly chosen from 1 of 3 sounds in an array.

All I did was replace the original sound files in that array with a series of gasps.

This was also done a couple of years ago, and there has since been an audio overhaul for the whole game, so I'm quite surprised this mod still works tbh.

I haven't really looked at modding the game since, so I'm out of date with how any of it works, but the PZ Discord, subreddit and Indie Stone forums were all solid resources. Worst case scenario, look at the files for this mod, you'll find very few changes in there, and reverse engineer it.

I'm interested in adjusting the alert sounds to something more personalized, but can't seem to find any decent/updated guides on adjusting the audio files in the game.

Could you point me in the direction of where I can learn how to make a mod similar to yours, or put me on the right track to figuring it out? Would be much appreciated, since I love the idea of this mod but the male voice is a bit too colorful.

How does this work on multiplayer? Because I assume if I install it on the client it won't work when connecting to a server and if its hosted on the server it will affect every character no matter the gender.

If I have a mod that changes the female voice to part, can I use the male voice model for the male characters? or are they going to be all male voices?

i hate the icon for this mod its so high-def and uncanny it makes me uncomfortable

This is great since characters don't often see a zombie when we the players do. Adds a lot of immersion instead of us already seeing the zombie and two seconds later *SCARE STINGER*.

Like a previous commenter said, if there's a rebirth of this mod that would be great with even more options! I think a weeb version of this would be really funny.

Unnecessary mod

A small but excellent mod, as if completing the game.

This mod really makes this game alive, small but a great mod.

Can confirm... added both mods to mods section and both the sounds to local folder.. it only used the male one. damn, would of been awesome if it did both.

Quoting a comment left on my MGS Alert sound mod:

For MP41 (hosting), go to steam/steamapps folder and move the specific folder after "#####" and "mods" and move the MGS Alert Sound to user/yourusername/zomboid/mods

After that is done place it under the "mod" section when hosting a server, not "workshop".

However , this was made before MP was re-introduced, so I haven't tested this myself in multiplayer at all.

Given that it was never intended as a MP mod, unless it can work on an individual player basis, then you would be limited to just one of the mods working, so always masculine/feminine.

@FallenAngel - not sure if it does... I added it to my local and played with two people however we still just hear the jumpscare.. When I am playing SP it works just fine. I am gonna try to add it to the mod files due to having two different options to choose from.

Really well done mod. The default jump scare just gets annoying after a while, and the troll/gimmick ones are fun for a while. I love the "watch out!" line; quite a fitting one for multiplayer. Hope a few more talking lines get added

@Chloe I believe there is a mod on the workshop that removes it completely, but that's maybe not what you're after either.

Currently, there is no way to turn down individual sounds any more, outside of modding them.

is there a way to turn down just the surprise noise but not anything else? Even with this mod it's really loud...

@NotMightyx yes it works just fine, just make sure you only use one of the two mods included, either the girl or the guy version

Need to just redo the male sounds similar to the females ones. Male ones are less surprised, more commentary.

dude thank you! I just changed to my desktop screen by accident, causing me to die & cut my arm open on my wooden desk due to that fucking loud ass noise terrifying me at 4am. I was gonna stop playing the game for good if i couldnt find a fix!
