@Eviale Not a modder by any means but judging by the logs I think it may be related to it executing the call from the context menu (right click menu selection)

This mod breaks farming in the 41.60 update, when I dig a furrow it's invisible, and when I right click where the furrow is supposed to be, i get no options and this is the error I get.

Is there anyway I would be able to disable certain parts of the mod while keeping others? I absolutely love ranching and hunting in this mod, but collecting 500 items that have nothing to do with what I am looking for while foraging has led to me all but abandoning the skill.

This mod is a mile wide and an inch deep. So many useless systems and items intermingled with each other. This needed a re-write a long time ago and now it's just being dragged along because people "know" about it.

Desperately needs a cohesive plan and gameplay to support it.

@Smolcream There are no hunting skills per se. Level up trapping/foraging then you'll be able to find animal dung. Find a whistle and binocular to find dogs. Use the dogs and dung to search/hunt for animals.

So far mod works for me without any errors, but I think loot tables are screwed: I can't find a measuring tape and a welder mask after looting an entire city. Anyone else has the same issue?

To talk seriously. Every "official" zomboid release brings something great but breaks a lot of things. I guess it s now better to stand by and wait for the final build (and maybe multi player) before going ahead.
Meanwhile, there is time, i estimate, couple months, this can be the moment to gather people of talent, that have time, knowledge, and ideas. Hydrocraft needs a complete rewrite, patching will not work anymore, that is a no go.

On one hand, list the features, remove the useless ones, or the most buggy, try to redesign a "core" Hydrocraft, that will keep it simple, the "engine".

On the other hand, even though i dont know how technically it would work or if it is even possible, have sub mods, agriculture, construction, weaponry, mining, tailoring, etc. That would split the problems (and create maybe some others due to dependencies), and make it easier to manage for multiple authors / teams.

Collaborate : there are gifted modders working around zomboid.

Everyone will agree that the people from Tsar, the author of Cherbourg, the weapon mod, Eris's mapping, (i m sorry i dont have the names in memory and cant use multiple windows currently), and those new maps i found recently, Pitstop being the latest, the Helicopter Expanded Event also, we have very very talented people on the scene.

I tried playing vanilla with all those mods and without hydrocraft, well, guess what, something is missing, big time, once you tasted hundred of hours of hydrocraft, lost a couple games getting killed by building a furnace, you just cant go back, it doesnt feel the same at all.




I dont know coding, i have a gift to see some things in code that usually explain problems, but i cant code. I know testing, though. I can just call out for talented and motivated people to gather, and get ready to do things the "good" way when Zomboid gets final, to be able to release an optimized, cleaned up, working Hydrocraft Core.

Then there will be time to add components, test them, and potentially break stuff without putting the whole mod in trouble, without putting all the charge and pressure on the same person.

So i guess the first step would be to find a real coder, someone who will be able to imagine a core, with a team of advisors able to determine what parts of hydrocraft comes first, what is minor, what is major, what needs to be isolated in its own sub mod. Then make teams dedicated on the sub mods.

Think first, act when things are calm and settled down. TIS might decide to make major changes before final release, and there s nothing worse than working hard on something to see it collapse due to decisions coming from outside.

just my 2 cents. Someone should set up a Discord to start gathering people. I wont do it, not enough time, not enough energy, covid took everything i had.

Does anyone have similar issue with huge game freezes connected to farming? Every time game calculates health, water level and temperature of crop I get 10-15 second game freeze.

Cherry already answered how to keep it alive. Basically someone needs to clean it up. Like you said, Hydro has been a part of the game for a long time and in that time it’s been booted and the code is a jumbled mess. It’s at a point now where it’s basically imitating your spare wires box, with everything all mixed up and connected to each other.

I am devastated knowing that the mod will no longer be developed in the future. This mod was the best part of zomboid.

Hello. Hydrocraft is currently not being updated anymore. Unless you have a fix for a specific issue, or volunteer to clean up the code and fix the current problems, you will most likely not get any answer.

Not sure where else to ask but, I can't seem to dig in a mine. I have a pickaxe and a shovel but the option just isn't there when i get near it. The crafting menu even says I can use a pickaxe and shovel but the mine doesn't seem to work. What the heck am I doing wrong?

The problem is that instead of fixing existing bugs, the development was focused on adding new functions and new game mechanics. now everyone has abandoned the code maintenance, and it is so full of different things that honestly, i dont see anyone interested in taking back the project, which is very, very sad, because the vanilla game just doesnt have the same taste.

i guess it would be good to split hydrocraft in different blocks, first to avoid stepping on other mods foots, Firearms for example is working great, well, was before .54. There could be a agriculture hydrocraft, a mining hydrocraft, etc... that would make the work easier when the core devs from indie stone decide to trash the whole game by changing the roots of item distribution, for example, splitting the effort between different individuals. But as it is today, hydrocraft is just impossible to maintain, it was an impossible task 2 years ago, it became something even worse.

@naier yes i have exactly the same stutter problem caused by this mod. deactiving it made my game run as smotth as buttter again. hope this will be fixed sooon because this mod looks great but i cant play like this.

Is anybody else still having what I think is streaming/cell load stutter?
(Run straight down a road and get a hiccup every 5-10 secs.)

The game plays fine with no mods/ all mods other than Hydro active.

Stutters when hydro is active (By itself or with other mods).

I've since deleted the save file, but thought it was worth mentioning after I read a bunch of comments that I'm also running into the problem of crashing at a specific in-game time, even when loading a save file from 6 days prior, the game will freeze and crash at exactly 0:00 September 18th. I've had it happen on two saves just shy of 2 months game time, freeze isn't always at 0:00, but is always a specific time according to that save file. Love this mod, I hope one day to see this game finally move out of alpha and hopefully by then there won't even be a need for this mod, it will just be integrated into the game itself. Also how cool would actual dog NPC's be? dood.

@cepaku I basically did what you said but I downloaded the two links as txt, renamed them to the filename with .lua and then replaced the original lua files... maybe that's not the right approach, I'll try directly editing the existing files in notepad next. Thanks!

@bex11 the solution worked for me. You have to unsubscribe. Install the mod manually. Find the two files mentioned in the solution (use the search command in explorer). Edit each file through notepad, and replace their contents with the corresponding contents of the linkz provide. One of the files is not colored right and will not transfer the formatting correctly when copying and pasting. Have paste bin color the content and it will transfer fine. Restart and the book should be there. BTW I started a new game.

@PhantomDgen how did you make it work and does it work for 41.54? My game updated unexpectedly, and now when making a new save, it doesn't spawn any of the books in... So I tried ByPoLaTtRs approach but not sure if it is working correctly... I unsubscribed from the mod but still enable it ingame, right? made a couple new saves without zombies to quickly check the bookstores/libraries and I only see vanilla books
