@truecore Might need a second house as well to verify results.
truecore Aug 30 @ 1:00am
So if I crash my new spaceship into a metal house that's a few hundred stories tall, there will be no fire? I need a mod to test this completely original idea.
Petty Officer Egg Aug 29 @ 7:55am
erm actually metals, such as titanium, do burn! and when they burn, its impossible to stop them from burning for the most part!

In all seriousness thank you for uploading this, I appreciate it!
Starempire42 Aug 4 @ 3:15pm
You have surpassed the original in literally every way (visitors/Subscribers/favorites etc)
Starempire42 Aug 4 @ 3:13pm
At this point I don't think this should be called "Unofficial patch" anymore
MeteorJunk Jul 20 @ 1:34am
lol
Chris_  [author] Jul 20 @ 1:30am
@MeteorJunk congratulations on being the 100th comment xD
MeteorJunk Jul 17 @ 5:17pm
always gotta love the subgroup of furries that are confidently wrong about everything and identify as a 'protogen'

@Professional Dumbass the name checks out. Go back to school. Metals don't burn because of carbon, in fact carbon has nothing to do with it. Metals can oxidize (burn) at extremely high temperatures if there are very high levels of oxygen. Neither of which happens in-game.

I still feel it's kinda stupid to lose metal resources to a house fire. Even if the atmosphere was rich in oxygen I'd imagine it'd have to be so potent that humans couldn't survive to see steel igniting.
Ertyly744 Apr 23 @ 5:04pm
It's true — and because of the giant insectoids, we can say that RimWorld's atmosphere is likely rich in oxygen. This would enhance the flammability of steel.
What you could do is make metal more resistant to fire: for example, it would only catch fire if exposed to an intense heat source nearby, but not if it's just surrounded by flames — in that case, there wouldn't be enough oxygen left for it to ignite properly.
Professional Dumbass Apr 14 @ 2:42pm
Fun fact: Steel can burn IRL due to it being ~2 carbon (Thats basically coal for non chemists) Its just really fucking hard to light it.

I know this from personal experience and basic chemistry class.
Cat Princess Jan 15 @ 1:04pm
Chemfuel can’t melt steel
RichyN25 Oct 9, 2024 @ 5:00pm
be aware this mod ALSO DOUBLES the health of all steel objects (walls/doors/turrets/adv research benches etc)
Stellar ❤️💙💛 Sep 24, 2024 @ 1:05pm
@RedMattis agree!
Enlonwhite Jul 4, 2024 @ 8:01pm
@Chris_ I got reading the comments, to check on the mod status, and I noticed my posts from Dec 2023. So yeah....

I am sorry I created a theme of comments here. Just got back after some work stuff, trying to now play with Anomaly Expansion.

I dont like tweaks Galore for a few reasons, not a bad mod, but I think I will stick with this one.

Thank you sir!
hhoferitza Jun 20, 2024 @ 3:07pm
Does this extend to the flammability of turrets?
Fire Pixsel Jun 2, 2024 @ 1:48am
can i add it to a save or will it break?
RaycePenguin Jun 1, 2024 @ 6:34pm
Is it safe to remove from a save?
Brian May 20, 2024 @ 7:21pm
bruh. . .
Chris_  [author] May 20, 2024 @ 10:38am
Man I love these discussions in here
Len May 20, 2024 @ 7:31am
Jet fuel can't melt steel beams, but it can weaken their integrity so they can no longer support the thousands of tons of weight above them
RedMattis May 20, 2024 @ 4:03am
Why does this double the max hit points of everything made out of steel?

At least mention that in the description, it is kind of an enormous balancing change.
Roggle May 9, 2024 @ 2:58am
Jet fuel can't melt steel beams, but art students can.
ArcaneAlchemist May 6, 2024 @ 1:15pm
thanks for updating this! i cant play rimworld without it. so dumb that trees and steel walls catch fire exactly the same way. metal dont burn!
Liquid Dio Apr 29, 2024 @ 3:04pm
Jet fuel can't melt steel beams
:VSnake:
The Dutchman Apr 25, 2024 @ 8:05am
Idk but its in Tweaks Galore so this isnt really needed anymore
DarakuGato Apr 24, 2024 @ 2:28pm
How this isn't vanilla yet it wild.
Lil Kitty Girl Apr 21, 2024 @ 1:30pm
It's basically Metal Don't Burn (Continued) at this point
Lil Kitty Girl Apr 21, 2024 @ 1:21pm
Honestly, at this point this is your mod now. It's been updated through several versions, I dont think you really need to call it unofficial anymore lol
FURINA FIXED ME Apr 19, 2024 @ 3:51am
Thanks for keeping this mod updated <3
QUIX2468 Apr 14, 2024 @ 10:32am

yehhh
SoundTrackJ Mar 30, 2024 @ 4:37am
Really a needed mod. Thanks!
midnightwarrior19 Mar 29, 2024 @ 3:46am
I mean yes metals do burn.....but not to just regular ass fire XD. Natural metals require extreme temps to melt, and tempered alloys and metals require even more. So yea this mod is valid. Open flames even at wildfire levels never reach the temp needed to actually melt metal. That is why things like kilns are needed to make the flames more intense.
The Moustache Mar 16, 2024 @ 1:41pm
thank you for the update!! c:
Chris_  [author] Mar 16, 2024 @ 7:18am
Just updated to 1.5
Chris_  [author] Mar 16, 2024 @ 7:18am
@Steagle Thanks! :D
Steagle Mar 10, 2024 @ 11:09am
actual gigachad for linking the original owner's patreon and stuff, nice job
Ryn Feb 25, 2024 @ 11:18pm
Thank you thank you, I love this mod and was disappointed the original never got updated. I was always frustrated a stray lightning bolt's fire would burn down my steel walls.
RelaxItsJustAGame Feb 14, 2024 @ 2:12pm
zaiden and Dev never graduated high school
zaidert Jan 22, 2024 @ 9:29pm
why are people bothering about realism, its fucking rimworld
Dev Jan 11, 2024 @ 6:31am
bunch of fuckin scientists in the comments section lmao nerds
Enlonwhite Dec 4, 2023 @ 2:31am
OK never mine they are made with titianium alloys, and other alloys which include Tungsten for low thermal conductiviity.

Since the Height, and pressure of the combustion chamber that burns the fuel is so concentrated. It can reach up to 3000'F in there.
NOTE: Atmospheric pressue is low up there, its a Contained system, and heat cant escape normally with the controlled system.

aka open flame jet fuel will never reach above 1500'F
Enlonwhite Dec 4, 2023 @ 2:26am
In many cases of open heat affecting Steel, it will get soft (at the worse) but NOT melt or such. People Please look up the hottest temp Jet fuel burns at, and the Reforging temp needed to melt steel... jet fuel burns at 1500'F and steel MELTS at 2500'F.

Seriously why is no one even fact checking themselves, or at least asking the questions and they themselves go and find the answers.

Heck if Jet fuel burned that hot, why would Jet Engines stay intact? They would have to be made of Tungsten I believe at that point.
Actually are they made of that? Now look what you have done, i got to stay up late and research this.
Nemo of Utopia Nov 27, 2023 @ 10:18pm
@Revixtre Probably, but this guy didn't write the mod, he just ported it, so if you want to make that happen you're going to have to get help elsewhere.
Len Nov 9, 2023 @ 4:39pm
Jet fuel can't *melt* steel beams but it sure can weaken them and ruin their tempering.
Glass Shahk Aug 22, 2023 @ 3:37pm
Please ignore prior comment, I have since realized that this is a ported mod and that Chris_ is not the original author.
Glass Shahk Aug 22, 2023 @ 3:35pm
@Chris_ Is there a reason that this mod also doubles the Max HP stat of things made from steel? I don't necessarily disagree, but it's a little frustrating that this mod does things outside of its listed effects.
