I like having more symbols and all, but I'd really appreciate having some kind of option that wasn't full of well-known symbols that get assigned to ideoligions blindly randomly. It completely takes you out of it when strictly chaste monogamist body purists have the Slaanesh symbol or slave-trading worshippers of a god-emperor have the Rebel Alliance symbol. Yes, I can manually alter these, but when MOST of the results are bad, this mod just adds work..

@The Guy in Your Closet - It's the Renegade ("evil") symbol from Mass Effect, the wing next to it is the Paragon ("good") symbol.

Oddly enough, I ended up finding it by searching for Arma, but it's neither of those. It's the Mass Effect Renegade logo. The wings to the left of it is also the Paragon logo. (Paragon means good, Renegade means bad)

Hopefully someone smarter than me has the answer for this, but is there a way to disable some icons from showing up in the random generation, but still allow them to be player-selected? I'm code illiterate and would prefer to not to break something when I can ask for advice instead.

The Swastika being used by the Nazis was actually a relatively new thing. It has been an important Hindu and Buddhist symbol for hundreds of years representing well-being, and good fortune. I have some Tibetan prayer beads with a jade Swastika on it. Even the word Swastika literally means "Good Health". Although I can understand most people assuming the negative connotation, I wish more people would remember the positive one.

@Dopper what you'll want to do is subscribe to the mod, find it under [your Steam installation]/steamapps/workshop/content/294100/2552609458, and either edit it there or make a local copy, such as with RimPy or manually copying it.

You would want to create a local copy if you don't want your changes clobbered with each update, and just edit the Steam version if you are okay with editing it each time they update.

You will find the icons under Textures/UI/Icons. Once you identify the names of the ones you want to remove, you can edit the XML to remove the def for that icon in the XML for the version you use. It will be under [version number]/Defs/IdeoSymbolDefs/IdeoIconDefs.xml, you can open it with Notepad or any other similar plaintext editor.

I hope this helps and feel free to mention me in another comment if any of this didn't make sense, my brain is in fact a little borked today.

Forunately it's extremely easy to remove symbols you don't want by some very simple file editing. We will not be releasing versions of our mods - we never have. Everyone has their own vision and we would never keep up with new versions.

Would love a version of this -sans the video game/movie/company ones that kind of break the 4th wall for me.

Obsidian has good suggestions, those logos would be helpful, even if I still don't use this mod due to not caring about icons. With the superpowers mod, you could create your own Avengers team and use their logo. A bat logo could also be useful for a vampire colony.

Finally have Ideology and finally grabbed this and the other Ideology Expanded mods! Thank you, once I got in there I found it was very lacking so this was practically necessary. (It's like the devs are now relying on the VE team to round out their game...)

If you guys are taking requests/suggestions, I'd love to request/suggest symbols like the Batman symbol or others from comics (maybe both DC and Marvel, or perhaps just DC). It'd go great with the Star Trek ones. :P

(Really though I want to be a group who all follow Batman's principals and I want a bat as the icon. I might try to draw one but I'm no good at RimWorld art style, I pixel art ;-;)

I love how people are complaining about the stupidest thing imaginable while ignoring the elephant in the room, which is that the star wars icons are under the star trek set. Honestly, I don't think you should stop making mods; you should stop all bodily function altogether.

Btw I think I theoretically have all the VE content I need, so them ceasing to create more mods wouldn't affect me much. I mean, I also doubt their drive to keep on is so low one consistent critic is enough for them to quit indefinitely, but just in case it is, I don't mind

If a mod creator is so sick and tired of their work that 2 people criticizing them out of a sea of positive makes them stop everything, I don't think they should continue being a mod creator. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Vanilla Expanded fan (mostly the psycast one), but I just wanna state my own opinion about it and defend six-six. You can regret reading this all you want, it's my own opinion (and six-six's to a lesser degree) and I'll state it if I can. Creating a logo for a muffin is stupid and I won't pretend it isn't.

Thanks for the mods. I'm new to Rimworld and the Vanilla Expanded series has to be some of the most stable, welcome and accessible content I've ever seen for a game.

I really hope you understand just how fantastic your content is. I can only imagine that engaging with the community can sometimes be very hard - the degree of entitlement that I read in some of the comments makes me regret the sweet gift of vision. So much mental diarrhoea from people.
