@Iridar Thanks ^^

I have retired from modmaking, you can ask for help on the modmaking discord https://discord.gg/ZytsZ93 or consult the wiki https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/index or simply examine how this mod is set up.
[AOC] Kageno Apr 24 @ 4:30pm
@Iridar First Sorry for asking this just now but is it ok to publish a mod based on your CRR, where i want to make a Star Wars submod. And if yes on how, because I tried many different times and it worked for the class names, but I had problems with adding the rank icons in generel and putting all that into a mod in modbuddy that would work if uploaded. (I know the basisc of modbuddy)
Iridar  [author] Apr 24 @ 4:05pm
Yes, as mentioned in the description.
[AOC] Kageno Apr 24 @ 11:57am
Hey Question, is there a way to make a plugin which adds new class names and class icons to the list of the Cosmetic Rank Replacer?
Dragon32 Feb 5 @ 11:08am
@Velvet
Check the config files for LordAbizi's mod, iirc there's some options there for this mod.
Velvet Feb 5 @ 9:13am
My bad, those ranks seem to be coming from Battlefield Leadership Training itself. I'm guessing this might be getting caused by a load order issue, assuming the two mods are still compatible.
Velvet Feb 5 @ 8:57am
On that note, is there any way to configure what the officer ranks for LordAbizi's Battlefield Leadership Training are called? I completely understand the reasoning behind the existing system and how it adds clarity, but I was hoping that they'd have more typical officer ranks like those shown in the screenshots. I can't seem to find any way to change that, either in the .ini or MCM configs, though.
Velvet Feb 5 @ 8:54am
@Bantichai The config options for specific classes change whether the class is considered an officer by default. If you toggled them on then those classes would always have officer ranks. LordAbizi's mod has its own rank system based on what level of officer training they have, followed by a number. So for example, the first officer training done at the earliest possible rank (squaddie), would change the soldier's rank to Tactical 2 (Abbreviated TAC2). There doesn't seem to be any way to configure them to use different rank names that I can find.

@Iridar
My sincere apologies - i didn't see you'd responded to my query. I'll look to get a screenshot. But no it was unmodified at the time. I also uninstalled and redownloaded the mod fresh to see if that would make a difference and it didn't for me for some reason.
Bantichai Feb 1 @ 3:24am
I'm using LordAbizi's leadership mod and I have a bunch of custom classes, what exactly do you mean by "You can also toggle which soldier classes count as officers".

I'm assuming this mod is just "cosmetic" and I see all my modded classes down at the bottom of MCM with the checkbox disabled. If I leave them all disabled, what exactly happens? They just don't get officer ranks applied when they become officers and instead just use the default soldier ranks?

@roadblock101
Hi. I looked and it works fine on my end. Did you make any .ini changes? Can you make a screenshot of your MCM options and the promotion screen with the problem?
Roadwraith Sep 6, 2024 @ 8:10am
Hi Iridar - not sure why but it seems to call some of Lt Koukassi's icons when your Icon Set is selected via MCM and should show the icons from the base game.

e.g.

[IconSet_Iridar_Soldier X2IconSetTemplate]
RankIcons[0] = "img:///UILibrary_Common.rank_rookie"
RankIcons[1] = "img:///UILibrary_Common.rank_squaddie"

Rookie and Squaddie actually shows as the following icons in game.

"img:///IRIOfficerRankIcons.LtKoukassi_Others_Rank_Recruit_K"
"img:///IRIOfficerRankIcons.LtKoukassi_Others_Rank_Cadet_K"

i.e. the upside down triangles are displayed instead of the dots in circle icons.

So whenever its supposed to load an original rank icon, it loads Koukassi's instead.

I'm running LWOTC if that makes a difference.
Iridar  [author] Aug 5, 2024 @ 9:51am
No idea, never used it.
Prolix Aug 5, 2024 @ 9:37am
Are there any known issues with Amalgamation? I'm using Amalgamation and battlefield leadership training. The officer ranks are always "tactical 1, tactical 2, tactical 3, etc" no matter what setting I choose in the mod options
Iridar  [author] Jul 30, 2024 @ 2:13pm
Your question has nothing to do with this mod, in the future ask your modding questions on modmaking discord. https://discord.gg/ZytsZ93

To have soldiers with an extra rank, you need:
1. Configure XP values required for an additional rank. Just having one mod that already does this, such as LW2 Classes and Perks is enough.
2. Localization for the additional rank (in game name). Again, having one mod that does this is enough. Also, some soldier classes have their own rank config.
3. Icon for the additional rank. Same note as above.
4. Have soldier classes that have perks configured for the extra rank.

Im fairly new to mods on Xcom2 .
Im looking for a mod that can add a higher rank..
I do know "Chimera Classes" is doing that, but it is incompatible with, "Proficency Perks/Classes" (alot of plugins) currently im using A Betetr Barracks, wich im more inclined to get rid of since its also incompatible.

I did found this advice to do it in the configs of either Mod or vanilla
*"Alternatively, yes I guess you could do this yourself on vanilla classes. Navigate to
Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config
Open DefaultClassData in notepad++ and paste the following string below the Colonel entry for each XclassType"
https://pastebin.com/FxxQGDUN <<< as explained
BUT when i dod that.. promotionis going back from lvl 7 to 5 or something.
Also its not called brigadier, and there is a icon missing.
So.. any help doing that in any config.. or mod avice would be appreciated. thx
Soul Jun 6, 2024 @ 9:28am
Really? Damn they looked like any normal one,I guess I just got too used to them.
For the rest basically I was wondering if there a way to get them to change class per class like in you screenshot if I have a lot of classes,or is it just impossible?
Iridar  [author] Jun 6, 2024 @ 2:47am
Proficiency classes have their own unique rank icons. "replace unique class ranks" option lets you override them. Everything is as intended here. I didn't understand the rest of what you're saying.
Soul Jun 6, 2024 @ 1:40am
Well ,unless I've read something wrong,the icons should change for the heroes factions if I pick "Iridar's templay/reaper/skirmisher" right? It doesn't unless I use the "replace unique class ranks".
Not sure if its cause I use the proficiency versions,thus I asked.

And then,if its the cause,I can't set icons per class,and thats why I was asking if it was normal cause I have a lot of classes or MCM just didn't load it for some reasons.
Basically just wanting to be sure.
Iridar  [author] Jun 6, 2024 @ 12:53am
@Soul
I'm confused, are you experiencing any issues?
Soul Jun 5, 2024 @ 10:55pm
So just to be sure,if I have too many modded classes,I can't change them individually correct?
Cause I'm trying it,specially for the factions icon and names that look great,but in game only the ranks names changed but the icons stay the same,even tho I put "Iridar's" icon and names for each factions.
Also I can't seem to get the individual picks,but again I assume its cause I have a lot of classes.
PS : I use proficiency classes for the heroes,dunno if it affect anyting since the rank names did changes,but again not the icons
Edit : forgot to mention (my B) but using "replace unique class ranks" DO give the heroes the icons,but then yeah it remove the uniques one from the other classes who got some such as proxian and field alchemist and the like
Dark Jun 4, 2024 @ 7:47am
Sry, it only for personal use, as I wrote below.
Branco Jun 4, 2024 @ 7:36am
@Dark did you made your mod? Could you share?
Dark May 24, 2024 @ 1:03pm
@Iridar Sorry, my bad:( . Thanks.
Iridar  [author] May 24, 2024 @ 8:08am
@Dark
You could have asked permission first. You can find the mod on github: https://github.com/Iridar/WOTCIridarOfficersRanks
Dark May 24, 2024 @ 2:09am
@Iridar I just want to extract some class icons for my personal mod, which will be compatibility with RPGO.
Iridar  [author] May 23, 2024 @ 3:05pm
@Dark
Hi. Why do you want it?
Dark May 23, 2024 @ 9:25am
@Iridar Hello, where i can find uncooked version?
Iridar  [author] May 22, 2024 @ 3:46pm
@Dragon32
Will fix, thanks.
Dragon32 May 21, 2024 @ 11:21am
Really small typo I spotted. Actually I don't think it's possible to get a smaller one.
[RankNameSet_LtKoukassi_Officer X2RankNameTemplate]
ShortNames[4]="Cpt.."
-->
ShortNames[4]="Cpt."
RakkoHug~<3 Oct 1, 2023 @ 6:33am
Iridar, apparently the issue may stem from the LordAbizi's Battlefield Leadership Training mod. I was reviewing its update logs and it recently received update which gives its own unique officer rank names. The update log specifically mentions about overriding Iridar's Rank Replacer.
Iridar  [author] Sep 30, 2023 @ 9:38pm
@RakkoHug~<3
Could you make a screenshot of the problem? Are you sure it's even caused by this mod?
RakkoHug~<3 Sep 30, 2023 @ 8:33pm
Iridar, it seems that the officer rank names are no longer being properly applied. It is now Regiment# or Field# instead of actual rank names. Also mod option for keeping original class rank names seems to be no longer functioning as well. I noticed that the HIghlander was recently updated, could it be the source of the problems?

Thank you very much for your help. :)
Iridar  [author] Jul 16, 2023 @ 10:37am
@roadblock101
Perhaps you're using an outdated mod for squad armory screen.
Roadwraith Jul 16, 2023 @ 10:05am
Hey Iridar - perhaps I'm being dumb but the rank icons show the vanilla XCOM2 icons on the squad armory screens and when building a team for a mission. It looks correct on the abilities menus and when in a mission. Should it do that?
Iridar  [author] May 30, 2023 @ 10:54am
@Razerjaw
That would take quite a bit more effort than messing with a few config files.
You would have download and set up modmaking tools:
https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/firsttime

Then create your icons and convert them to the .TGA format using Photoshop or Gim, then use the Unreal Editor from the modmaking tools to import them into a .UPK package you would put into the Content folder of my mod, and then you could reference icons from it.
Razerjaw May 30, 2023 @ 10:34am
thanks, now how would i make custom rank, icons? i cant seem to find any info on the web atm.
Iridar  [author] May 30, 2023 @ 10:24am
@Razerjaw
Use, you can do so in this mod's config and localization files. Use existing stuff as a template.
Razerjaw May 30, 2023 @ 10:06am
is there a way to make a new select able set of ranks?
Iridar  [author] May 16, 2023 @ 2:38am
Not via this mod. It can't affect UI sorting which usually looks at soldier's rank.
Fenrira May 16, 2023 @ 12:32am
Hey this is a small thing, but if I make someone an officer using the new Battlefield Leadership mod, they still appear lower than the more experienced enlisted in the barracks when the list of soldiers is sorted by rank. Is there a way to make it so that officers will always appear higher up in the rankings than enlisted?
Iridar  [author] May 12, 2023 @ 11:11pm
Should work fine.
Fenrira May 12, 2023 @ 6:33pm
I have the long war leader pack. Do I need to uninstall that mod to use this?
Zigg Price Apr 18, 2023 @ 3:56pm
Noted. I'll take a look around and see if any of them sound fun. Thanks.
Stukov81-T.TV Apr 18, 2023 @ 2:49pm
@Zigg Price ... easiest is look into the Localization
Iridar  [author] Apr 18, 2023 @ 2:36pm
@Zigg Price
No
Zigg Price Apr 18, 2023 @ 2:11pm
Is there a list somewhere of what each set of ranks is called?
Stukov81-T.TV Jan 29, 2022 @ 5:39am
Just to let you know .. i have about 1300 class templates in my game. MCM takes a long time to load, but it does not crash the game. Awesome
Iridar  [author] Jan 25, 2022 @ 8:20pm
If their soldier class is considered an officer then yes. This mod does not add any officer training and there is no officer training mod that I know of that would work with it, yet.
