Please fix recruitment and construction que in the corners, which collides with other UI.
Trident121 Jul 4, 2023 @ 12:06pm
Does it work still?
Cold Stoned Steven Jun 8, 2023 @ 9:33am
does this get rid of the ugly status wheel?
orestesmkb Mar 26, 2023 @ 7:29am
I hope the developer of this mod is ok. I'm not bothered as much by the UI but would love to try this one.
Riekopo Dec 13, 2022 @ 4:18am
Any eta on an update? Game is hard to play without this mod.
Dugunthi Nov 10, 2022 @ 8:45am
It's correct that recruitment and building queues are obstructed in the current version, but even with such a flaw it still beats vanilla by a mile, and makes the game playable. Thanks a lot.
kinda retarded Ilya Aug 7, 2022 @ 6:41am
Можно ли как-то увеличить размер интерфейса ?
Codarek May 2, 2022 @ 10:09am
This mod makes the game playable, thank god you made this mod @sebese!

I just couldnt play the original UI... it sucks
Bastiproton Mar 29, 2022 @ 5:37am
You can't even see recruitment and construction in the corners, because there's other
UI on top of it. Otherwise seems great.
Riekopo Feb 17, 2022 @ 10:59pm
You can talk to developer EdwinSmith_Feral#5211 on the Rome Remastered Community Discord.

Yes, I'll update this mod eventually, it's just that I have A LOT on my mind right now including serious health issues to deal with... unfortunately

And, tbh, even though I sent my suggestions to Feral and they were aware of them, in the end they didn't solve the modding issues mentioned under PLANNED (as far as I know) and they'll no longer update the game with "new features" meaning they'll never solve those UI modding problems. So I'm still not sure how to solve this and what to do with unmovable campaign map in upper right corner, or whether I can do something with news panel that would make it more readable. We shall see.

Please update to 2.0.4

Riekopo Dec 15, 2021 @ 9:35pm
Please update! This is the best mod for the game.
Riekopo Nov 4, 2021 @ 6:42pm
You can email Feral and tell them what modding capabilities you want added so you can perfect your mod. support@feralinteractive.com
sebese  [author] Oct 5, 2021 @ 5:41am
All working properly but sometimes some elements of the UI (a button, or yes queues, for example) may appear "frozen" and non-interactive. Not sure if it has something to do with changed positions or it's actually a vannila bug, haven't really checked on vannila. But all you have to do is uncklick the city panel completely and then click on the same city again, it should work properly.
Greedogre Oct 4, 2021 @ 10:50pm
can you make unit recruitment queen interactive, i cant cancel a already in queen unit
async Sep 25, 2021 @ 12:42pm
I love you man
sebese  [author] Sep 3, 2021 @ 10:44am
I think that's not possible, you can't add new elements and UI texture that exists is basically the same texture/gradient used across all windows
Riekopo Sep 2, 2021 @ 7:09pm
The diplomacy screen used to have a nice background behind the scroll. Can you add it back into Remastered?
sebese  [author] Sep 2, 2021 @ 7:39am
No problem, enjoy! @OldTotalWarrior
OldTotalWarrior Aug 30, 2021 @ 1:56pm
I've uploaded my new Alternative UI and I've given you credit for the work you did that I used.
JAGDTIGER Aug 22, 2021 @ 8:47am
i also have the same problem since many weeks and its certainly not a problem with this mod. although since the last update this window now always pops up in the background, so its even more annoying.. must be linked directly to the game
OldTotalWarrior Aug 22, 2021 @ 8:13am
Thanks. I always used the My Mods folder.
sebese  [author] Aug 22, 2021 @ 3:11am
Truth be told, at first I also edited the mod from my steam directory but then I run into some problems during upload and Edwin warned me it shouldn't be done like that - only ever edit mods from within your My Mods appdata directory, never from steam directory.
sebese  [author] Aug 22, 2021 @ 3:08am
Weird. Never seen it. Did you make a copy of the steam mod in your local My Mods folder before making changes to the file? Maybe that's the culprit, if not no idea. Sounds like something to report to Feral perhaps.
OldTotalWarrior Aug 21, 2021 @ 7:23pm
I have a persistent problem that shows up when I use my new version of the UI. When I click on "Play" on the mod page I get a small white rectangle with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and an "OK' box. The game will continue after I click on the OK box and seems to all work. I wonder if this ever happened to you. This occurs when I have changed the campaignuiright.pos file.
JAGDTIGER Aug 21, 2021 @ 12:17pm
it worked. now i am a happier man again. thanks a lot!
sebese  [author] Aug 21, 2021 @ 11:48am
Sure, the steam folder. Here is how it looks for me: Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\885970\2534869844

But best copy this 2534869844 folder, past it into
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Feral Interactive\Total War ROME REMASTERED\Mods\My Mods
name it something else like Better UI My Version and then make changes. Then you should be able to update the original Better UI mod without troubles in future, in case of updates. But for now, on launch just play your own version from My Mods folder and disable the original one from workshop.
JAGDTIGER Aug 21, 2021 @ 11:39am
alright, thanks a lot for the indepth reply and especially for helping me to fix it for myself! it may sound a bit stupid, but could you be so friendly please to tell me the path where the file is located? i tried the feral appdata, steam folder, the folder the game is located in.. and found nothing. maybe the win10 search is also bad, i dont know..
sebese  [author] Aug 21, 2021 @ 11:17am
What I did is hide those recruitment/building rows as much as I could while keeping them usable, not ideal but a compromise. You can still see your first building in a queue quite clearly (which is how many players play the game anyway rather than spam all the slots all at once) and lots of recruitment slots along with their turn number. Also, which may not be immedietely obvious, if you hover with your mouse over settlement/army icons (the ones you use to switch between 4 main panels) you'll then see the overview of complete building / recruitment queues. In case you added lots of projects/units and want to see them all to know what's going on. For now, I leave it that way but you're welcome to move them a bit higher and uncover all the rows. Just change the "y" value for campaigngnuiright.pos file, what you're looking for are construction_queue and recruitment_queue lines. Cheers!

The purpose of the mod is to minimize clutter and distractions, JAGDTIGER. In original RTW the trained units and buildings in production were only visible in the city panel on double click, not shown ALWAYS whenever you one click a settlement or even an army - which is a standard behavior in Remastered that can't be changed (they're shown even if they're empty!) and I find it quite distracting, personally.
sebese  [author] Aug 21, 2021 @ 11:14am
The mod isn't optimized for 110% UI and above, on most smaller screens it'll be oversized for certain.
OldTotalWarrior Aug 19, 2021 @ 5:55am
Hi! I found that the diplomacy screen is oversized for 110% and 120% UI.
JAGDTIGER Aug 19, 2021 @ 3:07am
i like this overall a lot and thanks for the quick fix for the latest patch! but the only thing i really dislike is how currently trained units and buildings in production get almost entirely hidden below the standard UI on the campaign map in the left and right lower corners (even seen on your screenshots). if this could get fixed/improved it would be almost perfect. thanks for your work in improving this rather poor remastered!
sebese  [author] Aug 15, 2021 @ 2:37pm
Update 2.0.2 Ready.
sebese  [author] Aug 14, 2021 @ 1:27pm
He said he was not sure about it but I figured it out today. Additional clipping is basically the crop function. The "visible area" of the frame. Unfortunately not very helpful where I tried to use it because it's not a static function - it moves together with animations so can't get rid of animation artifacts in certain situation, for example. So I opted for minimal optimal solution rather than perfect.
Also, yeah maybe they'll post something more on github eventually.
OldTotalWarrior Aug 14, 2021 @ 7:41am
Thanks. If you're in contact with Edwin maybe you could ask him if Feral could post a guide of some sort to these files in their mod support section on GitHub.com .
sebese  [author] Aug 14, 2021 @ 2:20am
Ah, the additional_clipping. Yeah no idea, it doesn't seem to do anything whenever I changed it so I just leave it as is, and true the system put in place is most likely their original work. I'll ask Edwin on Discord about the clipping, doubtful it's useful and important but who knows.
OldTotalWarrior Aug 13, 2021 @ 8:48pm
OK. I was hoping that the UI override .pos files were part of a language but apparently they are something that Feral cooked up.
Do you know what the "additional clipping" that shows up in frame definitions is about? What does it do?
Example:
"additional_clipping":
[
{
"x": 0 ,
"y":-20,
"width": 1820 ,
"height":840,
"anchor":"BR",
"align":"BR"
},

Thanks.
sebese  [author] Aug 13, 2021 @ 2:09pm
Btw, I think (if possible) I'll change settlement details a bit and merge it with recruitment/builder window somehow. Because they changed the behavior, now when double clicked on settlement both builder AND settlement details show up, so there is a conflict it becomes messy. Plus public order / growth tables' changed spacing is weird and now need even more wide space to show correctly. Still, I think some other things with spacing are fixed thanks to whatever they changed now.
sebese  [author] Aug 13, 2021 @ 1:44pm
Hey OldTotalWarrior, not sure what you're trying to do, tell me maybe I'll know the answer, cheers.
OldTotalWarrior Aug 11, 2021 @ 12:58pm
Hi! Thanks for the great modding work you've done.
I'm looking for a source for an good explanation of the coding for the .pos files. I'm working on a mod of my own and I have them mostly figured out but there are a few things that I don't quite understand. I've searched on the internet but haven't found anything. Thanks.
SilentSam7 Jul 25, 2021 @ 5:12pm
Anyone else missing a drop siege equipment button during battles?

Solid mod, thamks!
sebese  [author] Jul 22, 2021 @ 11:56am
@SenseiJT92 Try to play it on 2k or 1080 (or smaller) and read (comfortably) long descriptions. LOL. Also, some of us prefer bigger description/builder images and less UI clutter on huge screens to enjoy the experience (rather than other way around).

About Update 2.02 - it breaks quite a lot, i'll start working on it when I have time.
SenseiJT92 Jul 17, 2021 @ 3:26pm
the UI is fine tbh, no idea why people have an issue with it - just elitist nonsense
