I normally use Rimfeller for my chemfuel needs, but its a long journey till you can reliable set up the whole thing, also I feel it made no sense to stay "watching" while the refinery works to create something should be automatic, this might be my answer

I will think about it but that would add some dependencies. The idea is the fuel is for cooking the material to break it down into fuel.

It could be a really good mod, if you just put wood in still and wait for produce, like stilling spirits.

I like the design! And yeah, there are situations when a portable source of chemfuel could come in handy-- like coming up with the fuel for transport pods at a mining outpost. Probably more efficient than spending chemfuel, steel, and a component to send chemfuel over.

Uhh, just learned this mod is not working, apparently there is no workgiver for the work bench so this is now a work in progress mod.

It's also useful if you have an abundance of organics, got Bloodlust or Psychopaths but no Cannibals? Turn people into Chemfuel.

Because Chemfuel is more efficient, 75 wood in a wood generator is 3.4 days, whereas 30 chemfuel in a chemfuel generator is 6.7 days. you get 35 chemfuel from 70 wood, so 1 chemfuel is worth 2 wood in terms of cost but is way more efficient for power production. 1 chemfuel buys you .22 days of constant 1000 watts whereas 1 wood buys you .04 days of the same amount of power. Chemfuel is 25Xs better as a power source, and on maps where wood is scarce saves building material.

Seems kind of odd.

You get the chemfuel generator and don't have chemfuel for it, so you make this to make chemfuel... with wood... that you could just use for the wood-fired generator instead of building the chemfuel generator in the first place.

I mean, it's great that it's portable. No problems with that! It just seems like there's not a lot of use for it other than when you're on the move.

Well you don't always get a bulk goods trader, and even less so from industrial factions if you have lots of mods. This is just an alternative method, mostly for early game, might patch it into The Rich Explorer start as a bonus if someone asks and I figure out how.

Welp chemfuel can be bough early game so it's okay to be able to build the generator early on. If the conversion rate is balanced it could be good for a comfy small mining outpost.

It is unlocked under Biofuel Research, because it doesn't make sense that you would know how to make a smaller scale refinery if you didn't know how to make a bigger refinery. It's meant to be added to the beginning equipment so that you don't need to wait to use Chemfuel.
