@Shadowhawke. There is no set place to add solar for this ship. Just slap it on before you log off so you don't burn power, and then remove it once you are back.
@Abusive, This version is for Reforged Eden. If you tried to bring it in to vanilla version of the game it may give you that error... It could also be because of the solar changes. If so, then I just fixed the issue.
Next day, remove the solar panels and continue on your way with a full battery.

For the best results, pick a system that is within 2.5 AU of the star, or if at the star itself, look for high luminosity stars. Point the panels directly at the star, then log off and log back in right away. This will reset the playfield so that solar will calculate correctly. Then you can log off for the night and it should be fine.
The design does have some blocked thrusters yes, but as you said, most if not all, can easily be adjusted so they are not blocked. Given that the vast majority of servers don't care about this I did not think it a big deal to partially block some of them, but as you noticed I did try to make them easy to unblock if needed.
