Ebla can form Yamhad, then Ebla again, so and so forth for infinite population. So can Lakonia and Peleponnese endless form each other for infinite population.

The tech tree is vanilla but you have custom military traditions and the advancements mechanic.
1) No problems starting up (well, few - nothing insurmountable), but game remains in "Pause" mode. How to I get it out?
2) I had heard there was a Bronze-Age appropriate tech tree, with entries for chariots, for example - but the only one I see is vanila Roman. What giveth?
Can you add all of anotolia to the Map?
