Very Good mod, I dunno who thought it would be a good idea to make Bows cause an earthquake on your screen every time you use it.

I can't craft tranq arrows and all guns don't shoot any projectiles. It looks like they are running into some invisible wall directly in front of the gun.

I couldn't ballance the recoils because I needed some people really. I tried different things, currently it has a learnable pattern I think. Tweaking all that would have been the next step while implementing all the rest. I was also playing with adding additional weapons like an SMG but the dev kit makes this really awkward to do.

i also hope that ARK2 is more polished already, i'm aware of how ark is broken, i mess with Game.ini and Gammeusersettings.ini a lot and it's really boring and troublesome haha

Thanks for your input. I'm not surprised. The mod never reached a polished state. I tried to rush it through hoping to reach the mod program state before I had to do other things to make a living :D With Ark 2 on the horizon I'm not sure it would be a good idea for me to develop this further. Also with Ark getting crazier all the time it seems less likely that the community is interested in polishing basic gameplay at this point. I still see it as a prehistoric, immersive survival game but it just isn't :D

The way the game is built it makes it very laborious to add these compatibilities. I hope Ark 2 will be different on a hopefully much improved engine and I might have another go.

this mod is very good but need to beware of incompatibility with famous mods too. I had an incompatibility problem with this one with (S+), it could also be an internal problem, don't test your part to see if it's an internal problem, but only with (S+) and it, I couldn't do tranquilizing arrows, said it had no arrows, the common arrow was not recognized for tranquilizer recipe, and its mod overridden the EngramEntrie code, taking away my custom learning order of the engrams.

The mod "Improved Silencer" makes it so Dinos are effected by the silencer sadly, despite what the description says, it doesn't work with ANY other weapon mods. Was just hoping someone else improved upon it/made it work another way. Thanks.

No sorry :D if you just replace a weapon the attachments won't work on it and you basically have to make a separate weapon for every attachment. It's a weird system and the reason why you can't put multiple attachments on a weapon. I don't think dinos respond to sound, do they? It would be cool but it's just not the type of mechanics wc seems to be interested in at all. My mods are on ice atm unfortunately. I hope to get back to them before Ark 2 gets too close.

What does "working attachments" mean? Does it by any chance mean that the silencer will work against Dinos to some extent?

Think of it this way... you can chop a tree down quickly with a hatchet, but can you do so as effectively with a pistol? Or... you can knock a brick wall over with a sledge, but can you knock it over or penetrate it with as much ease with a small firearm?

If you look into it. A mass weapon being properly swung by an average sized man will deal as much kinetic force to a target as a bullet from a rifle. Both are around 3500 joules of energy, compared to a pistol which is between (350 and 1100) at point of contact. Don't be shy about melee weapons dealing decent damage. This is actually realistic. the Spear was a viable hunting weapon against Mammoths and bears for a long time before we developed bows and mechanical projectiles. As armor advanced and increased what we could survive, weapons evolved too. A sword mat not seem like it should do much damage, but in reality, it really does. Its edge is a force multiplier. all those joules generated go into a finer point an allows it to cut items that could potentially be even harder than the material the sword is made of. Mass weapons like Axes are even more so.

In Vanilla there is no recoil in that sense. It is done with an, imo, over the top camera shake. I'm basically adding recoil and use a little bit of camera shake to give the shot a feeling of a bit of an impact on the character. I'm now also toying with the idea of achieving the recoil with camera shake after all but in a different way. It's done this way in survarium which has superb gunplay. I do like learnable recoil patterns as well though so it's a tough one.

Yeah that's possible but it doesn't feel right either. It has to be really carefully balanced and sound actually plays a big role there too.

Can you remove camera shake from all the firearms, but keep the recoil?
Not sure if that is possible. I wish there was a way to turn off camera shake totally.

Yep, homing missiles aren't in yet. Might as well do that actually. I made the rockets much faster and longer lasting. I also tried making them really fast and it looks kinda cool but gameplay wise possibly not such a good idea (I might try it if I get the chance though). I feel like the arrows still feel slow but I might have to slow them down a little again or possibly ad some drag or something.

1 It is not possible to use homing missiles
2 The arrows from the bow fly much further than the rocket. This is unrealistic
In reality, the arrow slows down at a speed of about 5 meters per second. The maximum distance with modern bows is ~400-500 meters. The initial speed of arrows: a normal bow well, let it be 50 meters per second. Composite combined - about 90-100 meters per second.

A Price? It is totally my intention to to balance the damage a specific weapon can deal to types of creatures and players. I have to change things on the creatures and the weapons to do this. I can do this on the creatures on the Alternate Universe mod and for the weapons here. Thing is I have to have ppl playing it on a populated server to do this effectively. I am working on the basics at the moment and I am hoping to get to that point soon.

Question about damage: well, it is unrealistic to kill a tyrannosaurus with a sword or spear to an ordinary mortal with 5-10 blows. I would really like the damage from firearms to be much higher than from cold weapons. It is unnatural when a bullet from a pistol deals several times less damage than a sword strike. If it is possible to adjust the damage of any weapon, then you will not have a price

Hmm, good to know. Sometimes I get weird behaviour with reloading weapons intermittently not consuming ammo. In theory it should work as all arrows are set up properly. There are a few odd things still going on. I will investigate. Right now I will have a first look into the sword.

I came across this mod looking for a fighting animation mod for this game. You would think someone would just take atlas combat system and turn it into a mod for ark lmfao

Would love to as I agree that melee weapons don't feel very satisfying. I didn't even change those yet. I will in order to balance them. Changing animations, as in making them better, is unfortunately not something I can easily do without learning it first. Might get someone to help with that if I get that far :P

It replaces the vanilla weapons. The intention is not to use quality in its current form as it is quite detrimental to a proper PVP experience imo so loot crates need to be adjusted anyway. Most likely I will remove the engrams of machined weapons and add BPs to crates. It is still quite early development. It is basically a spin of of another mod in which I handle the crates. I hope I will be able to balance this first properly. Later I might add the option to configure it via ini. Tbh the way it is right now this mod probably does't really work well for the needs of most people, sry. Thanks for the feedback though :)

does this mod modify the vanilla of ark weapons or create new mirrored items that are identical but with the auterations? I wanted to know for several reasons, for example of being an annoying problem of having duplicate items, or the problem of not showing mod items in lootcreatys, and the question of remaking recipes, level of learning etc in .INI. I would also like to know if this mod applies to weapons of other mods that are based on vanilla for example S +


Ps: My suggestion for this mod is that it can be configured by INI. everything you can, damage, cadence, recoil, spread, ammo clip etc
