Either way i'd like to request that turning off the engine turns off the entire speed indicator not just the speed number and the bar inside it
I could still make the lights set a certain speed when clicked but I'm afraid that would be too obscure to figure out for the user...
I could make the lights reflect certain speed thresholds (like 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 %) and light up when the current speed is greater than the corresponding threshold, but I'm still not sure whether that would actually add value to the whole experience or not.
Still giving all this some thought.
Will see what I can do about the lights.
The side lights as speed presets are a nice idea tho! I'll see what I can do, but I haven't been using WE as an editor for 3 years now ^^'
Use meters / second because thats more commonly used, and set a number between like 5 and 10 thousand.
Also, you have five nice lights on the left, maybe repurpose them for speed presets? One button lit up goes slowest all 5 lit up goes fastest? And then just think about 5 speed settings for each button, ideally spaced out evenly so only one button being on is like 20% speed
If you're willing to help me in making this wallpaper even better feel free to contact me via direct message here on Steam!
I have one minor thing to bring up: the speed display is not very realistic - maybe you could add some options for the label (meters/second, km/second, etc; maybe a scale slider to adjust the speed itself?) For example, low earth orbit in real life is around 7,000 m/s (which is about 28,000 km/h)!
Fun fact: I originally started this project on 4k resolution, had to downscale to FHD because too many resources were being taken (yes, even with optimizations)
Technically I could do what you said, but you'd discover that wallpapers made with videos are heavier than 3d rendered scenes ^^'
One thing you could do in the meantime is set the spaceship speed to lower values and pump up the camera shake itnensity to the max (I'll roll an update to let it be higher than just 0.5 so it will be noticeable): this will make the wallpaper move around slowly, achieving a similar effect to what you're looking for.
Main thing is I don't know what you see or get the option to do in Wallpaper Engine. Would it allow for technically just an animated video? Or is that somehow disallowed with the way its been programmed?
I was wondering if you could make a preset where the ship will occasionally move on it's own rather than with the mouse cursor? I wanted it in a screensaver rotation about Space and thought it'd look cool if was able to do that.
My only bet here is that Wallpaper Engine itself is acting weird: try replicating this issue with another interactive wallpaper, or check your settings for the app's behaviour with maximized and full-screen windows. Shall you still have issues feel free to contact me via private message and I'll do my best to help you out!
