Hence me making my own mod, which (I hope) others will play and it actually work.
Go on to the mod section and start a single player game with the map selected like you would if you were playing it by yourself. Then once in the game, hit save, then there's a button saying SAVE MAP. Do so, then come out of Civ. Go to documents/my games/civ5/maps. The map you just saved should be in there. Move it to civ's own folder with its maps in. (ie when you go programmefiles/steam/steamapps/common/civ5/assets/maps etc - i think it is). Save it amongst the others, then send it to your friends and tell them to save it in the same place. It should work then!
Hope this helped anyone trying to do the same as me!!!
On the bright side, exams are finished, as is season 4 of the show (mostly) so now I can start working properly on Version 2!
In which case, unsubscribe to the mod, wait a while (I'd give an hour to be safe) and then subscribe again.
Sorry for the unnecessary hassle, but I hope one of these suggestions helps.
Also, as a general reminder make sure you have Brave New World and Gods & Kings for the scenario to work.
Simply waiting for the map to appear is something to do. A lot of mods I download don't initially load up.
However failing that, you can always move the mod into the maps folder of civ 5, which would mean its there, putting the mod on the maps list.
This makes an even player count of 12 civs, and 12 city states.
As for the 'other free cities' I assume you mean the ones in the Jade Sea, Qarth, and Slaver's Bay.
Well for one thing, I think the map would be simply too big if I went as far as Qarth, and it would of detracted from tiles that could be used for Westeros.
Another issue is that you go far enough east and the maps are just too sparsely populated, it wouldn't be worth making the entire Dothraki Sea, or including Sothoryos, because there isn't enough lore or settlements to fill them up.
And, yes, this mod probably has been made 50 times, but this is my attempt at it, and it was primarily for my enjoyment.
There are a bajillion Earth maps on the workshop, but I'm not going to condemn whoever makes a new one because ''it's been done before''
