hello, i recently made a mod with the old radars but with 100km. i dont know if you plan to continue the project or of you still play stormworks but i would like to let you know

im anticipating the datalink
Have Jul 24, 2024 @ 11:34am
when is the B model coming?
thatbubbleawsome Jul 19, 2023 @ 12:35am
got damn boy
Jim Halpert  [author] Jun 12, 2023 @ 10:04am
This radar works for airborne creations. The range is limited because it was designed or use with the legacy radars.
Dec Jun 12, 2023 @ 3:05am
I have two questions:
1: should i pick your airborne version on a plane?
2: is there a way to have a longer range?
JustHappened? Oct 22, 2022 @ 1:48am
D: im telling their mum !
Jim Halpert  [author] Oct 21, 2022 @ 11:33am
Unfortunately not. Since the devs removed the ability to manually adjust the beam, this system isn't really possible to make with the new radars.
UpasTree Oct 21, 2022 @ 12:17am
is there a version like this but with the new radars
JustHappened? Sep 14, 2022 @ 12:00am
all good, thank you for the response tho! i greatly appreciate it :D i hope there will be a radar like this for the new radars soon, be perfect for easily finding the refueling plane
Jim Halpert  [author] Sep 13, 2022 @ 4:29pm
That is normal. It was a feature that I was planning to add, but then the new radars came out and kind of suspended my development. Don't worry about dlink, sorry for confusion.

says dling fail for me from your fresh example, please help
Have Aug 27, 2022 @ 4:27am
is there any radar similar to this but in either a 3x3 or 1x1
Jim Halpert  [author] Aug 6, 2022 @ 9:29am
There is not
ACE Aug 6, 2022 @ 3:36am
is there a version with the radar tilted to the left?
Jim Halpert  [author] Aug 5, 2022 @ 1:59pm
It should be able to work while tilted, but due to the limitations of how radars are implemented in Stormworks, the accuracy decreases the more it is tilted.
ACE Aug 5, 2022 @ 12:31pm
how can i make this work so the radar is on it's side?
solarplexusclowngliderzelensky Dec 21, 2021 @ 10:58pm
Sad this won't be updated but its pretty nice
Jim Halpert  [author] Dec 18, 2021 @ 12:00pm
It is top-down. The closer to the bottom of the screen, the closer the target.
ACE Dec 18, 2021 @ 11:40am
is this top down? or like a camera?
Jim Halpert  [author] Dec 7, 2021 @ 2:56pm
Probably not unless the devs re-add the ability to control the radar yaw and pitch dynamically. This style of radar wouldn't work without it with the new radar blocks, sorry.
Sillierjarl Dec 7, 2021 @ 2:37pm
any plan on updating this?
Tesla Oct 1, 2021 @ 11:18am
Yes i second this!
Codster121 Oct 1, 2021 @ 11:13am
Suddenly, every radar system is outdated.
I hope to see a new version compatible with the new Advanced Radar blocks soon.
Tesla Aug 12, 2021 @ 8:35pm
I will follow your career with great interest!
Jim Halpert  [author] Aug 12, 2021 @ 8:10pm
Was thinking about making a replacement of this radar, or a new longer-range surveillance radar to replace (or compliment) the TPS-8A. Haven't decided yet.
Captain of something Aug 12, 2021 @ 6:07pm
whats the next radar your gonna make?
Jim Halpert  [author] Jul 28, 2021 @ 9:22am
I will potentially work on a proper data-link system to integrate with this radar, but I don't have plans for any significant work on this radar unfortunately.
Tesla Jul 28, 2021 @ 3:15am
Hey Jim. I was wondering if you have any future plans for expansion on this module ?
IronFox Jul 27, 2021 @ 11:48am
Alrighty, thanks a lot!
Jim Halpert  [author] Jul 27, 2021 @ 11:11am
Ok, I implemented a fix. I changed the target selection range from 0-100 to 1-100. It should no longer be possible to enter Quick Lock mode while target selection is set to target #0. The downside to this is it means in normal track mode it will always have one target selected.
Jim Halpert  [author] Jul 27, 2021 @ 10:50am
Ok I think I found the bug. Cycling the target select # to target #0 while in Quick Lock mode caused it to fail to unlock. Working on a fix now. A workaround until I track down the cause would be to click the Right Target Select button which should allow it to unlock. I'll let you know when I track down the cause of the problem, thanks.
Jim Halpert  [author] Jul 27, 2021 @ 10:37am
Ok I will look into it further, thanks
IronFox Jul 27, 2021 @ 10:16am
It happens with the quick-lock function when I change the mode to the narrow mode. The lock button wasn't even pressed and yes it is a push button. The same issue is happening to multiple friends of mine.
Jim Halpert  [author] Jul 27, 2021 @ 7:52am
I wasn't able to replicate the issue. Make sure the lock button is a push button and not a toggle button. Do you have any specific info on when this issue occurs?
Jim Halpert  [author] Jul 27, 2021 @ 7:29am
I will investigate.
IronFox Jul 26, 2021 @ 10:53pm
Hey Jim, I'm having issues un-locking my targets. Pressing any of the buttons (including the screen) seem to not unlock it. Am I doing something wrong?
Jim Halpert  [author] Mar 2, 2021 @ 1:49pm
The way radars are implemented in Stormworks makes the accuracy of single-beam radars less than perfect. This radar is designed to somewhat mimic how radars work in real life (single sweeping beam) as opposed to how most people do it in Stormworks (two 90 degree offset radars). It is possible that there is a math error somewhere, but I think it's stemming from just the limitations of the radar modeling.
It_aint_me Mar 2, 2021 @ 11:27am
Whenever I try and use the data link function, it always seems to be that the X coordinate is a little off. Is this just a limitation of stormworks radar/sonar or a limitation of getting target GPS coordinates from radar information?
Jim Halpert  [author] Nov 20, 2020 @ 9:18am
Thank you thank you
Tesla Nov 19, 2020 @ 9:31pm
Im also keeping a close eye on this nifty project. Keep up the good work!
Jim Halpert  [author] Nov 10, 2020 @ 7:27am
Sorry I forgot to mention the datalink is not implemented yet and on the bit page it is just a placeholder.
dinkledonkler Nov 10, 2020 @ 4:27am
What do i need to pass the datalink test?
Keptin Nov 5, 2020 @ 9:42am
@Jim We have a Stormworks Radar & Guidance discord with a handful of folks working on various things. We'd love to have you join us! If you're interested, hit me up on Discord @Kep#1817
Jim Halpert  [author] Nov 4, 2020 @ 5:11pm
Thanks a bunch man!
Keptin Nov 4, 2020 @ 4:41pm
This is absolutely killer work Jim. Keeping an eye on this project.
Jim Halpert  [author] Nov 2, 2020 @ 7:04am
Yes. The selected/locked target's x,y, and altitude are output on the composite output line. The GPS data isn't perfect but the more stable the radar is, the more accurate the targeting data.
Noot Noot Nov 2, 2020 @ 6:15am
so im wondering if i would be able to lock targets and then send its gps to a missle. would that be possible?
Neottious Nov 1, 2020 @ 1:12pm
Cheers!
