Im not quite sure how to get started on this map now that dupes take damage from cold.
Anything heating releated is locked behind water research
and digging to find a geyser is not feasible as the dupes can maybe mine 2 tiles
before needing medical rest. And thats while still close to the start.

Mod has been updated. With the new frostbite mechanics, it is exceptionally brutal.

I did this:
I dig up all cold material around the warm core - > reduce thermal transfer.
Research:
Pressure Management (for Temperature Modulation)
Smart Home (for basic automation)
Brute-Force Refinement (for thermshift plates)
Filtration (access to Liquid Tuning)
Dig up all ice but kept 5 block as is. The use regular tile to melt it down and use to research:
Temperature Modulation 1000K
Built insulated room for water + bring all polluted water into it.
Research Liquid Tuning -> build Liquid Tepidizer controlled by switch.
Use Liquid Tepidizer to meltdown polluted water.
Bring an ice piece-by-piece (10KG). In warm water it's meltdown fast. Collect a lot of water (until Tepidizer will start work by itself).
use water to research Refined Renovations -> use thermshift plates to melt down ice to keep research.
In parallel: build insulated base with water circulation through the warm water source.
+ Use vacuum outside the base to keep pipes working.

Played it! It's cool! A lot of challenges just to use the regular stuff like -170C dirt for mealwood -> no mealwood during a few cycles. The first water is a huge problem.

Can this 100k mod be made compatible with SpacedOut?

Love to do a scenario where you start at the Teleporter Asteroid with the plan to recolonize your frozen homeworld.

I am still looking nearly every day if the "A 100K Cluster is coming soon to Spaced Out!" did change :) "soon" can be so loooooooong :(

Entering the world creation screen, exiting, then re-entering will cause the game to crash because the 100k world was already added but it tries again.

Hopefully, the Dupes are able to move even with a body temperature BELOW zero. Or I have a bug and I have three zombies right now :) Getting liquid water is the real chalenge of this mod, as it is needed for advanced research, especialy for the insulated block.

i made it to cycle 3 night time wen i exedently opend a hole to co2 soild that melted in to base and killed me. this is sure a hard one but darn fun wen you get past the first day or too.

Challenge accepted. I have the feeling that I may have the high ground with this map though. Mainly because I suck at heat elimination. It takes a game like ONI to find out that Science is your weakest subject.

Dig up to surface by 10th-15th cycle, make a regolith drop funnel.

Any semblance of challenge is now completely defeated as the infinite amounts of 250C regolith easily overpowers the -170c temperature. Bonus points for a standard double door lock on the regolith pit that regulates 25c temperatures from the exchange.

Can you make extreme version of this map with void zones of absolute zero and maybe some cold spots that constantly get colder and colder and maybe even cold regolith shower? Like you'd need some background tiles to insulate from constant cold zones that would get colder unless you put tempshift/background plates in it.
I mean no geyser is challenge but I like to make sustainable bases.
Maybe get more options like 0 geysers 2 geysers etc some slider style maybe that reduces amount of geysers or something.

is the 1000kg tiles of co2 intentional? i got chunks of it in at least the starting biome, rust biomes, and the slime biomes. i had to do reload due to a chunk of co2 under my starting spot being over a million kg of co2 which i slowly bricked over and 'deleted'

If this mod adds a map feature instead of a special map, it will be better. It will only bring more variables to the game.

I've started quite a few different seeds on this map to see if there is any difference. Yes RNG plays a part for sure. But I've not played 1 seed where there wasn't a hot stream vent or two. Or less than 3 water sources. Start with 2, 7 diggers. And dig. Everything bad is frozen solid. So you don't have to worry about digging up anything. Well peak at geyser you don't just dig them up. You need every piece of buried food. I don't take on more than 3 dupes until I find water. And get stuff insulated. If you take on more Dupes before hand good luck. I could have went 50 cycles without making any food. Yes if you went into this map on max hard level it will eat you live. You couldn't get food up fast enough. It takes quite a while to turn the corner. But once you do there's nothing hard about the map. Like I said Rime was harder because it was cold not freezing everything cold.

I have to agree - finding a source of heat or liquid water is the challenge, and it's pretty much RNG whether you will find one, or find it in time.

The challenge seems to be if you can find a active water/steam vent before starving (assuming no deaths). Sadly I did not as the only geyser I found was in obsidian. Also, playing on max stress is tough since you get -10% cold and -10% wet feet.....

I find the map actually easier than Rime. Everything is frozen. It doesn't matter what you dig you. Nothing can hurt you. Cool Stream vent. Warm loop through the base. You win. My base is now running 21. Easy map starting temp. Did I get lucky and have a Vent close to my base? Sure. But if you keep the water in the pipes at 1000 flow it's doesn't freeze inside them so you could pump it for miles and it never freeze to a close storage. Great map thou. Don't get me wrong two thumbs up!

Got lucky with cool steam and hydrogen vents in the starting biome. Locavore\Carnivore and Supersustainable check! :) Where is Gravitas? Why carbon dioxide pockets in the rust biomes filled with 1000kg per tile frozen CO2?

If I can make a suggestion for future worlds like this, I would like to suggest something like a frozen ice nebulae, like with an average small solid biome in the center, surrounded by clumps of various types of ice and metals, with space background. You may include clumps of solid background biomes in other portions, making it look like small asteroids trapped inside a frozen ice cluster.

Oh boy, I love this map.
Yes, it can crash/freeze the game, but it is such fun! It took me over 50 cycles to get liquid water and start researching usefull stuff (no geyser used). Getting little bit rusty probably...
Lets see how fast it can be in second run :-)

I have found that if you have the "I love Slicksters" mod enabled when creating a 100k challenge map it causes only the starting biome to be -173 C and every other biome to be about 430 C. Just want to mention in case anyone else happens to encounter this and doesn't want to spend a while troubleshooting.
