would love to see this mod add the Alpha Thrumbos 'Thrumbomane' added the same way you can get Thrumbofur form Thrumbos.

Thrumbomane has slightly better stats then Thrumbofur so it would be nice to be able to shear them both and get the respective furs

Looks like Alpha Thrumbo fur is a separate thing, listed as "thrumbomane", so this probably won't work.

I don't know yet. If it's stats are fetched from normal thrumbo's then yes it will work, since it'll grab the modded version too then. if not, then no.

Milk has the same stats, regardless of what creature it came from. The only thing that changes between animals is the amount, and time between harvests.

As for the shearing of the wool, it's not actually its own thing. It's thrumbofur, the leather you get when killing them. So instead of getting 160 leather for killing each one, you get 190 every 60 days(year)

Probably not no, I don't actively play anymore and the point of the mod was to keep it as lightweight as possible so it don't conflict with anything.

Just double checked and it's working just fine for me. Check \workshop\content\294100\2208985736\Textures\Things\Pawn\Animal\Thrumbo and see if it's got ThrumboPack_east.png ThrumboPack_north.png ThrumboPack_south.png. If it doesn't, then something went wrong when downloading it and you'll have to redownload. If it still doesn't work, then I don't know what it is, because it's working just fine for me and I have nothing to troubleshoot that issue with.

The texture for the thrumbos wearing pack saddles is missing. It just turns them into a giant pink square while they're carrying any goods.

Would if I could, but I don't know how. Editing XML files is the extent of my abilities for rimworld modding.

Thats easy to do, just go into the mod and scroll down trough the folders to get to Races_Animal_Giant.xml. Should be 1.2\Patches\ThingDefs_Races\

Then open that .xml file in any notepad program and remove:

then save and enjoy no milk Thrumbos.

You can also change <packAnimal>true</packAnimal> to <packAnimal>false</packAnimal> if you don't want them to be pack animals, you can change what milk and shearing gives you by changing the woolDef or milkDef. Want hyperweave or plasteel from shearing thrumbos? Just change it to the hyperweave or plasteel defs. And you can mod the amount values to get more of it, and how quickly it grows if desired.

Is there any chance of getting a version that only includes the ability to shear them? I've been looking for a mod that allows me to get thrumbofur without killing them, but I'm uninterested in being able to milk them 😅

No, the only changes are the ones that are listed in the description. Races_animal_giant.xml is appended to make Thrumbos a pack animal, shearable with thrombo leather(190 units every 60 days) and milkable (90 milk every 15 days)

However if you want to you can just straight up copy my mod and lower the wilderness rating yourself by looking at the wilderness rating of another animal and copying that over to thrumbos, it's not that hard to learn how to do and took me a grand total of 30 mins before I made this mod.

Does this mod lower the wildness rating on Thrumbos? I'm mostly being annoyed at how much I have to constantly train them to NOT leave my colony after taming them.

Yes it still works, though it will throw up a warning that it was made for version 1.2 not 1.3. Because they added in multi-version mod support, this mod and other outdated ones will still work UNLESS one of their dependents got changed.

I've tested it and Thrumbos can still be pack animals, sheared and be milked. This will also hold true for the future UNLESS any of the above get added nativly, which seems unlikely and even then it should work.

Benefit of a lightweight mod is that it's very unlikely to break from updates since it doesn't depend on much. So unless they remove multi-version mod support in the future, this mod will work as is going forward!

Hiya. Is this mod still compatible as of July 8th, 2021? I noticed that Thrumbo Extension was updated more recently.

Lovely mod! Makes so much sense and is balanced imho.

Well I've been using it with pre-existing saves, so yeah it's save game compatible. There's also no issue removing it on existing saves, only thing that happens is that you can't shear or milk your thrumbos anymore. So you can enable/disable this at will whenever without it messing up your save.

It should also be compatible with any and all future updates unless they add shearing or milking to thrumbos.

I've always been a thrumbo herder, and I do enjoy this mod to make it a bit more profitable.
