@Moth I took that order from somewhere, dont remember where, at the time I was writing it. For the record, It DID work, as I was having crashes before using the compatch. Though it works because as Melvasul mentioned here, the mod load order from the launcher doesnt seem to matter.

How on earth did you place a patch before the mod it's for!? The patch always goes last, otherwise the patch won't work :steamfacepalm:

Hey, I'm having an issue with one of the mods in the Expanded Family - I have no idea which one causes it, but when I click on the construction icon on the top left my game just crashes

One small thing, there's actually no load order from the Launcher, but it's defined in the descriptor.mod file inside the mod files, so technically you can have

ASE - ET COmpatch
Extended Timeline
Ages and Splendor Expanded

Just to confirm for anybody in the future, this mod still works like a charm. If you are using Extended Timeline it will crash when you click on the Splendor menu. To prevent that:

1. Ages and Splendor Expanded
2. Ages and Splendor Expanded - Extended Timeline Compatch
3. Extended Timeline

Place these three mods in that particular order. If you are still having a crash, check out any graphic mods you have installed (they are usually the ones clashing with Extended timeline)

Tbh you can make a compatibility patch for just Ante Bellum

and I have no problem to do it just remember the people to subscribe to both mods... cause yeah... they usually forget xD

Regarding TGE, this mod is compatible with TGE, yes yes!

Currently for personal use I have a version of this mod modified to be compatible with Ante Bellum specifically. I was wondering if it would be alright to release it for public use? I ask because it is standalone (still requires base Ante Bellum to Run) and I don't think I'd be able to release a version that is just a compatibility patch that requires this mod to run.

Secondly I'm wondering if I could then incorporate that into a larger mod that also functions to serves to provide compatibility with other mods such as the Idea variation and trade goods expanded.

Well... actually no, at least not from this mod.

We do not edit the triggers for the Ages, they are all vanillas...

So unless you have a mod that spawns Enlightenment earlier, then yeah it's jsut randomness...

but pretty bad one xD

Might be a bug and this is the only mod that has to do with ages... I'm doing a Byzantium playthrough and it's the Age of Revolutions in 1564.

Well, it's more than that...

From my understanding of AB it is a completely alt-history mod that thoughtfully changes the state of EU4's timeline and setup...
I'm not implying anything about the quality of the mod, I don't judge that


So none of the Age abilities would "translate" to something...

I didn't realise it would be such an undertaking--I just figured it would be as simple as swapping around a few tags considering the shift is largely akin to a mix of the CK start date and loose OTL 1444 happenings.
I asked because this mod is great, and it's a tad sad I can't use it there.
If it's too much effort or non-viable feel free to ignore my request and move on; thanks for the mod so far.

We would need a bit more information about this.

We have tested it using
1. Ages and Splendor Expanded
2. Ages and Splendor Expanded - Extended Timeline Compatch
3. Extended Timeline

and found that it all worked as usual.

That is interesting... do you know if they have picked they "Retain Age Ability"? Cause I also made that mechanic [with also custom-gui for players] a bit to dump excessive splendor :T

As well as other "invest Splendor" options

Okay, that makes sense. However, I noticed from mid to late games usually major nations (AI) around 1650+ onwards tend to have maximum splendors and complete all objectives for those ages. I think at least 1 additional age somewhere between Age of Absolutism and Age of Revolutions still could fit inside.

We thought about adding an Age of Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment in the past...

Long story short, we found that it would make the ages overall too short and in some cases you might not even unlock your first/second Age Reward because the next age would arrive too soon :/

Another problem would be that it would make some ages a bit too empty by "moving" age rewards/objectives from Age 0 to Age 1 and viceversa :/

I have issues with this and the ET and 1.37, compatch doesn't help.

Once I chose an ability to retain, whenever I click on the Age, I get an additional GUI overlay on top of the Ages GUI, and it only shows ??s on first page an abilities on the second and third. The Close button doesn't work.

From testing: Europa Expanded does not edit the Ages from the game, therefore you will receive this mod

Unless you have other mods enabled that might change the file :T

It also started normal, then about 20 years into the campaign reverted to vanilla age abiliities (minus the new UI)

I'm getting this issue running this mod with Europa Expanded where it retains the new UI for the ages but has the old splendor abilities and half the boxes are blank. Where should Ages Expanded be in the mod order?
