Started from scratch, and with barely any infrastructure, I wondered what caused delays and missed flights. A grant scheme required 3 flight info displays, so I'd think the info need is covered on basic level.
After unsubscribing from the mod, and reloading a save where previously people were mass-fleeing the security area to be queueing again at the moment of saving, the reload first complained about the mod missing (I deconstructed a display again, haven't sold it, but the box probably was removed), and then every passenger behaved, nobody requeued (apart from the few that already got that command before saving) - i.e. an immediate fix.
No clue what's going on, and I believe you stating that your mod isn't at all messing with passengers activities. I don't want to claim it's never working, but if someone else is experiencing something weird like me, it might give them an idea.
Purely technicallyit speaking it is impossible that this mod does cause this. There could be reasons why this could happen, such as: It might be that your passengers are starving for information (it's a need) and you do not provide any or not enough information objects throughout your airport, especially not after security, so the people run to the only source of information they can get. But then it's not the cause of this mod but you can improve your airport design :-)
Sad, as I like the idea, but it's no big issue for me not using it.
What do you want to achieve by rotating? You would not be able to see anything, neither from the sides nor from the back.
If it keeps turning itself off, there is probably an issue. I will need your Game log and possibly your airport to replicate it, please :-)
Can you come over to the discord at https://discord.gg/dtaYqRz find me at #modding-discussion there? You can drop your log and airport there.
Thanks :-)
Thanks for letting me know @TBFlash. It's fixed now :-)
Sorry @everyone for the inconvenience caused.
It would be nice if you could provide an airport (either upload on Steam, or come to our discord and send it me there). I also need the information which display lost it's assignment to which gate. This way I may be able to find out if the assignment gets lost on save or on load.
The more airports or information I get, the better.
Thank you very much.
I fixed an issue I found regarding the Flight Information Display not always showing information (staying empty). Can you please check if that solves your issue? Thanks for reporting.
Hi, if the mod does not work, and the display stays completely empty, please check if the mod is disabled (in the mod menu). This is a script mod, which needs to be enabled to function correctly.
If the Gate Information Displays only show a clock, it means that the mod is working, but the displays are not assigned to gates. In that case please assign them to gates using the in game assignment functionality.
Thanks.
Thanks for notifying me of this issue. Occasionally this happened for others as well, but we were not able to find out why until now. We know now why this happens: When loading or saving your airport while the mod is turned off, the game will lose the assignments. This is due to an implementation workaround I had to use because of an issue in the game's modding engine.
The mod automatically gets turned off by the game if there are errors, that's a safety measure. In the case this mod has an error, I will need your log files to check on why this game has an error. Your airport save file might help as well (depending on the issue). Thanks :-)
I added this information in the mod description above .
thanks for using my mod and thanks for the shoutout. Regarding your Suggestions:
The omnidirectional (read: circle) information effect area is kind of a tradeoff. I *could* make it only emit into the direction of the display, on the other hand, there is no way to rotate this display to the sides or backwards (from the player). So I can't tell the player to just put a display on the back of the first display and be done. It's not ideal, but since the mod is more eye candy for the player than for the simulated PAX, I believe this is the better option.
The "Look ahead" idea is intriguing, and I will invest some time into it to see if this plays out well. Holding the "Departed" is technically a similar request, so if one thing is good, the other one should be good as well. I can't promise when I'll find the time though. Currently I'm working on a slightly difficult and different feature. Stay tuned
So... two minor critiques, if I may... First, the "Info" heat map shows a large circle emanating from the display. I believe that since it is omni-directional that cutting this into a semi-circle would be more realistic. Second, can you set it up to "look ahead" at the next flight arriving, instead of showing "Gate Closed" between flights? That would add a little more realism. Perhaps it could hold the "Departed" flight info for 15-30 minutes if another flight isn't scheduled for a while...
That being said... again, well done! That's some cool stuff there. Thanks!
Thank you for letting me know of this issue. I identified a problem and fixed it in the latest version. Please update the mod to the latest version (should be done automatically), and enable the mod again in the Mod settings. I am really sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Thanks for confirming. Have fun!
I'm glad you like it. Thanks for your message. I've seen you showing off this mod in your last episode of the Bristol Airport series, many thanks for this. I'll keep improving this mod, currently I'm working on manually assigning the Displays to Gates (in the proper SimAirport way) instead of the automatic way, so you can have dedicated Displays for lounges or concourse sitting areas far away from Gates, but there's a limit in the game engine which needs to be changed first. There's also a chance that there'll be one or two new display types/sizes. Stay tuned.
Thank you!
I'm not sure if someone with a Mac has already used it. But it works on Windows and Linux, so why not on Mac? There's nothing linked to some .exe files.
Usage is easy: Just place it somewhere. If it's close enough to a boarding facility like a Gate Agents Desk, and that desk is assigned to a Gate, the display will show information of this gate. If there is no boarding facility near, the display will alternate between information about any Gate of your airport (random).
If the display does show NOTHING (stays empty), you might need to activate the mod in the Mod Settings (Press ESC, then Mod settings, then search for Gate Information Display on the right, and click the button on the far right to enable it).
That said, what exactly is the problem? Does it show bogus information, or nothing?
