Vanilla Cooking Expanded - Stews

@Ghawblin you can achieve your reduction in micromanagement by using the "Count Additional Items" part of the bill menu.

For example you make a bill for "uncooked simple strew" - make until x. Then use Count Additional Items to count "simple stew".

There's a little trial-and-error due to the fact that their numbers aren't one-to-one, what with 1 uncooked stew equalling 10 actual stews. Maybe something to be figured out there - possible you just tell it to produce 2x the number of stews as you have stewpots, and then when the number of actual meals dips below that you start the bill again? That way you should end up keeping a reserve of exactly as many stews as pots, so no wasted time.

You have either a mod conflict or corrupted mod files
Halfelfaedyn Sep 16 @ 3:26pm
I'm getting loads of errors with this mod:

Also why does it consume fuel when not in use? This isn't similar to vanilla behavior of fueled stoves.
Ghawblin Sep 5 @ 11:22am
Anyway to reduce micromanage of stews? Would only like my colonists to prepare a stew when under X amount of stew meals. Right now they just endless produce stew until there's so many meals they can't store it.

@moss, Sense Of Depth For Tall Buildings might be causing it. If it is, fiddle with the mod settings for the affected furniture to fix.
creeperlization Aug 25 @ 8:13am
also capable of removing debuff from toxic meat from Vanilla animals expanded - waste land:steamhappy:

the stew pot is clipping with the stew's pot
Meelonius Jul 14 @ 6:55am
About the stews vs soups...it seems it is at least the bug in descriptions. As well both seems to have same nutrition? But anyway soups 2 days, stews 3 days, not the other way around as described.
Proxy Jun 12 @ 6:49am
Can there be broths?
氟氯溴碘砹 Mar 2 @ 3:23am
As what I found in the pot's description: 'Stew is slightly less nutrition-efficient than Soup, but requires only 2 days of cook time as opposed to Soup's 3.'
But it is opposite in the actual game, which means stew requires 3 days and soup only 2.
Is it a bug or only the description is wrong?

@No Mic Tweetus
Why would there be gourmet version?
Think about it
Gourmet meals provide bonuses based on condiment used
Stews don't have ingredients (thus allowing usage of questionable ingredients)
Seriosly, what's the point of gourmet version then?
What's the benefit over lavish version?
Less nutrition in exchange of couple extra mood points?
Frankly pointless if you ask me.
Just have a gourmet soup instead.

Sorry, this bug is inside the sushi expanded, I sent it in the wrong place,
I installed the mod ‘realdining’, and it use the mood value to determine the priority
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jan 1 @ 11:10pm
Pawns don't choose meals depending on their mood effects. They don't know what wasabi does until they eat it
1300532801 Jan 1 @ 10:13pm
Bro, the mood provided by Wasabi in your mod is minus one, which makes the pawn never choose food which adds wasabi of the same quality, please modify it.
No Mic Tweetus Dec 11, 2024 @ 7:54pm
So why isn't there a gourmet stew? I'm curious.

Hauling
BookOfMike Nov 25, 2024 @ 6:36pm
what job does refilling/unloading the stew pot fall under? cooking? hauling?
Dust Nov 24, 2024 @ 11:07pm
Does this work to remove the penalty from Anomaly twisted meat?
AriaTheSkyDragon Oct 24, 2024 @ 9:56pm
Hi, could we make it so the pot only consumes fuel when it is Cooking? Currently it is always burning wood even when not in use. I know we can just select toggle automatic refuel but I think everyone tends to forget this. Especially if we only planning on make one batch. Might be distracted while out running caravans or other things. Thanks.
CTH2004 Sep 20, 2024 @ 9:29am
that was my guess (:
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Sep 20, 2024 @ 7:08am
The only reason this mod exists was to provide a low tech soups alternative, and we didn't want gourmet meals for low tech alternatives
CTH2004 Sep 20, 2024 @ 7:03am
wait, just realized, there's no gourmet stew?
is there a reason? (I can kinda see a possible reason, but just wondering)

also, noticed something, and it’s a reason to not add an electric stew pot! Basically, stews and soups have their pro’s and con’s. Stews (other than the lack of gourmet stews) are more ingredient efficient (from what I can tell), and remove negative ingredient thoughts. however they take longer.

Now, the interesting thing. If the main difference was time, then there would be no reason to not mass produce stews instead of soups. But, with the requirement of wood, now you have to deal with “how do I get wood? How can I make sure my colonists still have free time”. Normally wood is just a fuel early-game, and maybe somewhat later (if you use chemfuel). Now, even in the very late game you have that! And in a desert, how do you mass-grow wood? Maybe climate control? But how?...
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Sep 15, 2024 @ 11:05pm
So, remove the only thing that makes stews (or soups) unique?
Mask of Humble Sep 15, 2024 @ 7:07pm
I love this mod but it is so hard to manage, I'd love a oven instead, one where you can set a limit on how many meals are made.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] May 21, 2024 @ 5:42am
Sorry, we can't
Farya May 21, 2024 @ 5:35am
Could you possibly make electric and fueled pots interchangeable as long as both technologies are researched? And maybe also add a fueled variant that runs on chemfuel or gas
Sarg Bjornson  [author] May 10, 2024 @ 12:52am
So, making soup just a meal, thus invalidating the only reason they exist.... I think we'll pass lol
Colorado Dyes May 9, 2024 @ 8:57pm
Why does soup needs to be made on electric surface? Can't it be made by the oven?
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug May 2, 2024 @ 7:26am
“Soup is electric stew”
Put that on a poster and sell it
Unironically
Ribera May 2, 2024 @ 12:27am
Shame
Sarg Bjornson  [author] May 1, 2024 @ 11:41pm
No, never
Ribera May 1, 2024 @ 10:07pm
It will be updated for fine and lavish, carnivore and vegetarian variations ?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Apr 25, 2024 @ 1:00am
Soup IS electric stew
Ts_L Apr 25, 2024 @ 12:47am
I love your mod oskar, Can you add Gourmet stew for the mod like other cooking recipe? Also a electric stew pot is very important(like electric pot for cooking soup) for desert scenario because wood is quit few !
Oskar Potocki  [author] Apr 23, 2024 @ 12:47am
Can someone explain this man how raw meat spoils faster than cooked?
Hemlock Apr 22, 2024 @ 10:57pm
>Stew spoils in 4 days
>Cook puts it on stove then goes to get wood for it
>Stew is rapidly spoiling due to lack of fuel
>Stew rots on the stove in the mere minutes it takes for him to get wood

Mkay, yeah, seems legit
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Apr 5, 2024 @ 1:39pm
Nah
Caar Apr 5, 2024 @ 1:38pm
Should change this mod so we don't need a stove to make a stew. I mean, what's the point if you're still going to need to make a full stove anyways. May as well just make a meal after all.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Feb 21, 2024 @ 7:33am
You have another mod that is modifying the XML bases of meals, which is a HUGE no no in modding. You'd have to discover which mod is messing things up
Moonreefe Feb 21, 2024 @ 7:12am
My game does not count stew as having any food value, so no one eats it and it counts for 0 food on trips. Any idea why?
Art Student Feb 5, 2024 @ 5:23am
Research > bill will appear on either campfire, fueled stove, or electric stove to make uncooked stew > build the stew pot and put it there
[RM] Thunderhunt Feb 5, 2024 @ 4:57am
I dont get how to make stew. can someone explain it?
Art Student Feb 3, 2024 @ 7:37am
@GwynnTheGreen if you want automated soup/stew cooking try using mod called complex job there is option for "production", putting food into the cooker and taking it out when ready is production job
Type Writer Jan 31, 2024 @ 10:20pm
@GwynnTheGreen I believe the reason it's not being prioritized is that moving stew in and out of the stew pot is, if you have the Processor Framework mod as well, classified as a "Hauling" job. Specifically "Pick up result from processor" and "bring ingredient to processor." I was just wondering the same thing. Try re-prioritizing Hauling to see if that helps.
Starfoth The Burgundy Silk Rug Jan 13, 2024 @ 7:12pm
Is there a way to disable the "stew is ready for pickup" alert that pops up?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Nov 21, 2023 @ 11:15pm
No, that's the only reason this mod exists: low tech soups. They have advantages over soups, but their main drawback is that they don't have gourmet options.
Shifty Fish Nov 21, 2023 @ 8:43pm
Maaannnn ya killin' me lol. Can't even throw a little salt in my stew?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Nov 16, 2023 @ 11:24pm
No, that's intended
Shifty Fish Nov 16, 2023 @ 5:27pm
Could we get a 'Gourmet' Stew option since we have that for all the other types of cooking things? Can't cook gourmet soups in a Medieval run with no electricity so gourmet Stews would be nice, lol.
