"In the end, I would rather move on to more fresh projects then stick with a ship I made almost 4 months ago."
kustardffc Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:50pm
well can ya be botherd to make an extended verion now plz
kustardffc Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:50pm
thats a h moment
jImBo  [author] Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:47pm
Oh I can be bothered, it's just preference not to make a mission. Also it's not so simple as to just 'lengthen' the ship, I would have to extend certain interiors and lengthen certain components such as the engines or paddle wheels just to fit toward what looks "1:1". In the end, I would rather move on to more fresh projects then stick with a ship I made almost 4 months ago.
kustardffc Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:39pm
it wont take long to make it a mission or cant ya be botherd
jImBo  [author] Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:34pm
eh, oh well.
kustardffc Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:32pm
mission would help bc now you cant call it 1:1
jImBo  [author] Aug 31, 2020 @ 12:30pm
yes, this is so it can fit in the build zone.
kustardffc Aug 31, 2020 @ 11:56am

Is it just me or does this ship kind of look like the one that blew up in Jojos part 1.
jImBo  [author] Jun 3, 2020 @ 8:10pm
Oh yes Collin's was a bit impractical in some ways as well, mainly when it came to squandering his US backed money towards outdated wooden steamers. The Persia really represents the step in ship building that the Collins line couldn't do.

I just emit the exhaust from the engines out of the funnels, it's that simple. The engines produce smoke which can be funneled out of the funnels. (:

Collins was in many respects his own worst enemy. Everything had to be the best, the finest, the fastest and d__n the cost. Samuel Cunard succeeded because he was able to keep costs under control. I don't want to call him 'penny pinching' but suffice to say, Cunard was not at first known for its luxurious accommodations. But Collins did also have more than his share of bad luck, The loss of the Arctic was a huge blow both financially and emotionally since his wife and two children drowned when she sank.

Anyway . . .

So you have a fluid port taking in from the ocean and exhausting it at the top of the stack? I'll have to experiment. The plumes from the stacks definitely add a lot to the realism.

@surativefire Ah, will do my friend. Hopefully i'll be able to find new ways improve the control system of steamships thanks to you.

@sail64 Edward Collins was definitely a man of the Victorian era, It's ashame fate didn't favor his company.

Thank you so very much! The smoke on the Persia was made with fluid ports leading the exhaust to the funnels.
jImBo  [author] Jun 3, 2020 @ 11:44am
there we go I think it should work now.
jImBo  [author] Jun 3, 2020 @ 11:43am
@Kahrstorm @Sail64 Oh dear, I'll fix that right away, thanks for telling me (:
Kahrstrom Jun 3, 2020 @ 5:01am
I suggest you make some spaces between the ( ) and the link in between, they become part of the link and Steam thinks it's malicious :)
sail64 Jun 2, 2020 @ 8:36pm
Also, I'm getting a 'link blocked malicious link" message when I click on the link for paddle steamer. Any idea why?
sail64 Jun 2, 2020 @ 8:34pm
Poor Edward Collins. He dreamed big and today no one even knows exactly where he's buried. Seriously though, I am incredibly impressed with your work. The Persia is magnificent. Samuel Cunard would be proud. How did you manage the smoke?
jImBo  [author] Jun 2, 2020 @ 3:19pm
@GunnyMcSchoot It should be the yellow podium in the paddle room
Kreox Jun 2, 2020 @ 3:09pm

jImBo  [author] Jun 2, 2020 @ 12:05pm
Thank you guys (:
jImBo  [author] Jun 2, 2020 @ 12:05pm
@FalloutGod47 That's a good suggestion, Although it would create a lot of weight for the ship to sink easily if water got in. This type of promenade on a ship is definitely new for stormworks, so it'll be a learning experience.

DIS IS GOOD:steamhappy:

ngl dude this is pretty E P I C
FalloutGod49 Jun 2, 2020 @ 8:26am
hey a little tip for the stairway on the outside leading down into that smaller area that has the door to enter the ship: make a huge door frame around the top. so that way when there are waves the water won't go through the walls and can only flood the area if it goes above it. don't make the door. just make the frame around the top. you don't have to do it but i just wanted to make the suggestion.

@sail64 Oh dear, I hope your project doesn't disappear like the S.S Pacific (:
That would be a very fun competition.

Really nice ship
Aquatic Star Lines May 30, 2020 @ 8:18am
Move the forward lifeboats a little more forward and then maybe move the aft ones a little aft. Basically just enough so they clear the platforms.
jImBo  [author] May 30, 2020 @ 7:15am
You can still lower them though, Ive done so on many occasions. A trick I would use is to wait till the water reaches the boat deck, then lower. The boats should hopefully not snag of the boarding platforms then.
jImBo  [author] May 30, 2020 @ 7:10am
yeah, that's the problem with being proportional and fitting your ships into the limitations of stormworks. I wanted to make large ship that could fit into a normal workbench without using missions. The life boats possibly could've gone further down the side of the ship, but certain aspects such as the sheer, the deck in which people can get on the life boats, and the proportions of the promenade and deck of the ship stopped that.
Aquatic Star Lines May 30, 2020 @ 6:50am
The boarding platforms block the lifeboats from lowering down.
Aquatic Star Lines May 30, 2020 @ 6:49am
There's also no way to really launch the lifeboats.

The Persia: "She carried 250 first class and 50 second class passengers."
The Scotia: "She carried 273 first class passengers and 50 in second class. Scotia did not have quarters for steerage."
Im just taking what's most likely historically accurate for Persia, using reference from the facts I know about her and the design of the Scotia, her half sister.
Aquatic Star Lines May 30, 2020 @ 6:32am
Steerage (Your second class) was for immigrants heading to a new country and new life.
