By request here are my 17 attempts at a Nurgle terrain. I wasn't happy with any of them in the end but you may find one you like, let me know if you do:
https://easyupload.io/m/loysyh

Copy the packfiles to your "Steam\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER II\data" folder and they'll appear in the launcher.

thats fair

You can sill try making different seamless textures and seeing how the game renders them. If you're confident with textures or don't mind doing lots of trial and error, remembering to check how it looks in both low and high corruption areas and under different lighting conditions in the different lightbox regions (e.g. Lustria is cartoon oversaturated, Old World has yellow filter, Naggaroth is dark and desaturated, Ulthuan is bright and brilliant etc.), you can produce good results. I didn't have any experience before making the mod, don't let me discourage you from having a go.

They repurpose the religion mechanic from the history games to model corruption (uncorrupted is just another religion). If each god gets their own religion, which would make sense for Chaos vs Chaos competition, it would be possible. We shall see.

If undivided are in the game they could be their own religion (and hence their own creep) that still confers the same benefits on the monogod religion factions.
Human72 May 29, 2021 @ 12:55am
one can only hope @morven but from what you said this is a WH2 limititation on the engine it'self so thats understandable and i am ok with it. hopefully WH3 get's it done right with all 4 of the dark gods and there corruption style and the undevided one to.
Morven  [author] May 28, 2021 @ 8:56pm
A kaleidoscope map of red, green, blue, and purple, will be overlayed with itself a lot of the time and you end up with prominent yellow and cyan streaks and features (the blue-purple interactions between Tzeentch and Slaanesh look nice).

TWW3 should have a unique religion attached to each god, and hopefully a unique creep for each god that will either do the job or make modding it possible.
Morven  [author] May 28, 2021 @ 8:56pm
@Human72
There's only one Chaos religion (a.k.a. corruption) in TWW2 and from that only one type of terrain creep for Chaos. To get all four gods represented on the same seamless texture is difficult, both artistically and because the texture overlays itself as the engine renders it on the campaign map in different schemes at different corruption levels and at different map locations (and under different lighting). What might work at one corruption level won't work at another: the difference between what textures work for the small city rings at low corruption where the texture overlays itself four times, and high corruption when swathes of the map are painted with minimal overlay, is quite stark. I couldn't get anything to work.
Human72 May 28, 2021 @ 4:24pm
is there a way to show the dark gods corruption of all 4 seperate or a united type of corruption or is that a no go?
B L A C K Mar 9, 2021 @ 4:51am
OH that's cool! I wish I could do that. I'll probably find a good tutorial for modding then. A beginners guide perhaps. Another thing is it possible to change settlement skins when capturing a settlement?
Morven  [author] Mar 7, 2021 @ 12:46pm
Maybe. If you go searching through the packfiles you can see where all the chaos and undead creep references are and you could try inserting skaven entries and terrain files and see if it works. Warhammer corruption is the TW history religion mechanic repurposed with a creep terrain mask mechanic added. Skaven creep have some half mentions in table headings. I don't think it will work, my guess is something is hardcoded to make chaos and undead corruption different, but there's enough breadcrumbs to make it worth trying.

In addition there is a different mechanism where campaign map vfx effects (like rainbows, magic animation swirls, flying bats etc.) can be added when a region comes under the control of certain faction groups. That seems more viable and could be done on a faction by faction basis.
B L A C K Mar 7, 2021 @ 7:18am
Hi is it possible to have visual effects for Skaven corruption as well? I hate that skaven settlements have no visual cues. It's as if I'm building an unknown empire of sort.
Gleen Cross Feb 7, 2021 @ 4:47am
Even if I didn't liked the initial concepts of Warhammer 3... I admit, the 4 chaos gods have potential for cool mods, lol for example, this one is obviously related to Khorne, so we already have one terrain. The potential for the other 3 gods is pretty cool on a visual standpoint. Now, regarding how they play... well...
Epyon (AnimeToxic) Nov 27, 2020 @ 7:20am
i have a good idea for this mod :D maybe add skulls laying around with the blood corruption to aplease khorne :3?
Guts Nov 21, 2020 @ 9:20pm
Very Cool.

Thank you, the world just wasn't evil enough until now!

Nice mod! A green one retexture would be good for skaven
Samanou Jul 25, 2020 @ 2:20am
Nice mod!
Morven  [author] Jun 24, 2020 @ 10:34pm
@Ditto
Any ideas for a Vampire corruption map texture?
Morven  [author] Jun 24, 2020 @ 10:32pm
@Nexus
There's an interesting new mod called Vampire Coruption Mist that showed a way to add graphical campaign map vfx effects for Chaos regions (that would also work for Vampire regions, and potentially able to be modded to add vfx campaign map effects on a faction-by-faction region control basis). I've confirmed I can get vfx campaign map effects to load for Chaos, just a matter of playing around with effects and learning what edits look good:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2137764670

It's a movie mod, so as I understand it would have to be an separate additional mod to this.
Ditto Jun 24, 2020 @ 9:44pm
Are there any plans to make a Vampire Corruption and/or Skaven corruption mod similar to this?
Nexus Jun 24, 2020 @ 2:52pm
nice idea but what is the different between your Mod and the normal Chaos Corruption effects on the Land mass ? Looks nice but when i think on Chaos i must think about Dead,Flames and so on ^^ Or make a version with all of them :D
rob.dee Jun 24, 2020 @ 2:33am
Morven id like to say thankyou for this and your miscast mod , really nice work mate , and i appreciate the hard work you put in.
Morven  [author] Jun 21, 2020 @ 9:54pm
@Walkabout
Thanks mate. Really good to hear your feedback on how it changed your campaign play style. I want Chaos corruption to be something alien, horrific and obscenely conspicuous, that intrudes on and haunts your campaign, that motivates you to fight and purge it from your map; which the vanilla grey stone textures just don't do. Hopefully CA go all out in TWW3 and we get four variants of crazy Chaos creep and campaign map effects for each Chaos god.
Walkabout Jun 11, 2020 @ 8:19pm
This version is my favourite of the ones you've done. Playing an empire campaign and seeing this corruption start to appear around Altdorf gave me the incentive I need to recruit a Witchhunter and start looking for the source. Good to see differences between nature the different types of trees in the forest and the differences between various corruption sources - Chaos, undead and skaven.

BTW your miscast mod is great too. Now I actually see when they happen.
Morven  [author] Jun 7, 2020 @ 6:44pm
@Wulfmeister
Thanks mate, yes that was my motivation. Reading all the fluff about the Realm of Chaos landscape being a lovechild of Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch conceived in a dye factory, and instead they paved hell and put up a parking plot. My small effort to do some textures to help return it to that bizarre and hostile alien horror direction.

Hopefully the creative flows are unleashed for Warhammer III and we get an overhaul with four wildly surreal competing creepscapes for each god with 3d assets popping up on the campaign map, or something very different and even better.
+ More Footwork + Jun 4, 2020 @ 11:18am
THIS! This kind of mod has been a much needed addition to the game! Chaos corruption has never only been about flames and dead earth. I'm so happy that you've created this mod. Very appreciated <3
Moogle May 28, 2020 @ 9:47am
Purps be my colour, but that shit is disgusting! Better red than dead
ThotPocket May 26, 2020 @ 1:13am
Filthy, I always have an FPS counter on my screen for TW2.
Filthy Pollo 🐔 May 25, 2020 @ 3:36pm
Is there a way to inspect .DDS files to compare between original file and modified file? I don't know why it causes lag since you said they equally match the storage and resolution
Morven  [author] May 25, 2020 @ 3:33pm
@Filthy Pollo
The textures are BC3/DXT5. They equally match the storage and resolution size of the vanilla DXT5 dds files.
Filthy Pollo 🐔 May 25, 2020 @ 3:28pm
@Morven I think I was talking about DDS exporter, CA devs won't talk the details of correct DXT format which it's used to optimize TW it has to do with BC1-BC7 compression format, I don't know if TW Warhammer supports BC3 texture format for DXT5... maybe if you find some DDS exporter that offers better compression just like PNG or JPG compression, try it when you get a chance
Filthy Pollo 🐔 May 25, 2020 @ 3:21pm
@Doodel it's hard to notice without FPS counter in the screen
Morven  [author] May 25, 2020 @ 1:28pm
@Look Over There!
Wood Elves are the perfect candidate for campaign map scripting akin to creep, where every province you occupy turns green with foliage and trees start popping up to populate the campaign map, and by the time you've conquered the world it's been terraformed into a giant forest. I don't think it's possible to do atm, it's really something for CA to either implement or enable. As is, creep is tied to religion (which in Warhammer is used for corruption), and may be further hardcoded to work only with Chaos and Undead (Skavan are the other race that use religion/corruption, but they don't have a vanilla creep attached to them).
Morven  [author] May 25, 2020 @ 1:20pm
@Filthy Pollo
The vanilla creep dds files are all DXT5. That may be because they are holdovers from Warhammer 1. From early testing modded creep files would not load if the wrong dds format was used, the game would load the vanilla textures instead. IDK if a newer format would work, but as is it's a direct replacement of the vanilla format used for creep dds.
ThotPocket May 25, 2020 @ 11:10am
Filthy, my FPS hasn't changed whatsoever between using this mod vs not using it.
Your Mother May 25, 2020 @ 10:58am
Do you think it would be possible to use this same creep mechanic for Wood Elves and a mist growing with them should they expand out of Athel Loren?
Filthy Pollo 🐔 May 25, 2020 @ 10:38am
You should research about the correct DXT format which is recommended for Total War Warhammer, so we don't know which is one since you were using DXT5 as you watched this youtube video is outdated because it impacts the performance after all.
Morven  [author] May 25, 2020 @ 2:52am
Thanks dood, added them.
ThotPocket May 25, 2020 @ 1:37am
Yeah, of course.
Morven  [author] May 25, 2020 @ 1:13am
@Doodel
Haha looks good under Uthuan's lighting. Glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for the feedback and screenshots too, it's very helpful. Do you mind if I include some of your images in the mod description?

@IVaCH
Only Chaos and Undead have creep in the game. Skaven have corruption too, so there's a chance the game could be tricked into displaying creep for them (not too hopeful though). Corruption is the history games religion mechanic repurposed, so if it's possible to add religions to the game then creep modding for more factions might be possible. Hopefully they expand the religion/corruption mechanic in Warhammer 3 when they give each Chaos faction their own corruption, and therefore their own creep, and it become more easily moddable from there.

I am planning to do a terrain mod for each Chaos god, and a Beastman themed one. Each texture has it's own quirks when put in the game which slow the process down.
IVaCH May 25, 2020 @ 12:26am
Good work! What about another one for skaven? like greenish?
ThotPocket May 24, 2020 @ 9:00pm
You don't waste any time. Re-enabling to try this out right now.
Morven  [author] May 24, 2020 @ 8:01pm
Texture's now updated for a true blood and gore wetwork look. Improved performance around cities with low corruption with less blockiness.

If you prefer the old textures I've uploaded a legacy edition here:

That does look really good. It looks like the ground is covered in growths or something. Looks disgusting in all the right ways.
Morven  [author] May 24, 2020 @ 12:18pm
@Doodel
Mate it's looking really good. I have solutions to get it to look smooth around low corruption cities (replace the 0_diffuse with a transparent, the game does an okay job of making the 1_diffuse's corners curved), and solutions to make it look great throughout high corruption provinces (keep the 0_diffuse). The hard part is getting it to do both at the same time. Anyway here's a preview:

Can't wait to try this out.
Morven  [author] May 24, 2020 @ 9:09am
Big update coming. Bloodier and gorier edition. Wetwork Warhammer world.
Morven  [author] May 24, 2020 @ 7:57am
Testing different options. Cleaning up the 0 dds helps. The big culprit is the normal map, which is just too sick for the Warhammer world. Will have to tone it down to get it to play nicer with how the game applies creep to low corruption cities.
