It would be nice to have this as a trait, so you can give certain (but not all) AI empires a little boost in the beginning

This looks good but I think I would prefer if influence started at like 300 instead of 1000. As-is it kind of just removes the need for early game influence and makes rivalries a lot less valuable.

@Sir Kunjat I think it affects AI empires as well but sorry I'm not sure (I only did a few small mods, I'm not a pro).

Still working fine with 2.7. Is a useful little mod to just tweak the start.
