Thanks for the fast reply, it's probably EUI then, I'll try removing that and see what happens. Will report back when I have tried it out, if that doesn't work I'll give your other suggestions a try too.

Hey Jizzard! All was working last time I checked; try these steps and let me know if you're still having issues.

Remove, unsubscribe from all mods. (Not just my own, there can be DLL conflicts, so all mods.) Ensure Mods folder is empty (check the actual folder, not just the game's browser). Make sure game is not running. Double check DLC folder to make sure you don't have EUI (ui_bc1) or any pseudodlc installed. Download/Unzip manual versions of just EA/StS to mods folder. Make sure to delete cache and moduserdata folders. Start civ 5, enable mods, test on duel size to avoid load times and possible frustration.
Hey I just started playing the mod for the first time, with stones to stars and Empires Ascendant UI mods enabled as well + I'm using version 74 of the mod. But I have a problem where the game shows the defeat screen before I even load into turn 1, and forces me to exit back to the main menu. I really want to play this mod, would appreciate any help solving my issue thanks!

This is really minor, suggestion: the vanilla goody-hut event that the locals get upset at you taking slaves and spawn barbs should probably actually give you a slave in your closest city. It'd be a neat way to give some benefit to what's otherwise just bad RNG.

Hey I am getting a problem where I will be in the loading of a new game, and then it will produce an error saying that it can not load an XML file. It will not crash but it keeps pooping up despite trying to close it.

I do have to ask tho: are you supposed to lose almost all your cities during a dark age?
It gets quite tiring to lose 3/4 of a continent because of my superior tech

No worries Iska, I totally understand you have other priorities. Thanks anyway for all the hard work you put into this mod collection! I also gave Il Principe a try and while it was good quality I found your EA/StS collection to be superior due to its more interesting city & empire management mechanics and dynamic effects, so I think there's a lot more potential in EA/StS to build on such a great foundation.

If you ever return to updating EA/StS, and Principe for that matter, then the main thing I wish for (in addition to bugfixing) is an improved strategic and tactical AI, perhaps inspired by some of the AI changes in the Community Patch, Gaia's Core Mod and Acken's Minimalistic Balance. I know you included the great Artificial Unintelligence (the lite version) but those aforementioned DLL mods built on it so they further enhance the AI on the strategic and tactical levels.

Hello Ducour! Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I don't really see myself coming back to work on this any time soon; I haven't played civ 5 in quite a while and my irl priorities have shifted away from modding. On top of that, this mod is kinda deprecated, if I were to come back and mod (probably will eventually happen at some point, I come back to civ 5 every few years) I would probably focus my work on Il Principe.

When I think of the future of this mod, it's at some point shortly before the singularity when a near-ASI can parse and easily understand and fix every bug and glitch, so me and my then AI bae will have fun fixing that then but probably not before.

First of all, great mod Iska! Lots of dynamic and exciting features. Well done for putting this together!

I'd like to report a bug. After loading a savegame the yields "prosperity" and "corruption", which affect the gold calculation in the top panel, are not taken into consideration for the "net gold per turn" value (the value in brackets after the treasury balance). These yield values are displayed in the top panel gold calculation but they're not included in the calculation for the next turn. This means that an incorrect amount of gold is added to or deducted from the treasury at the start of the next turn. From the next turn onwards, prosperity and corruption are correctly included in the net gold per turn value. So this bug affects the first turn after loading a savegame. Hope this description helps. Would be great if you could look into this issue!

so the mod won't download at all. I've tried resetting my game and reinstalling it wiping it completely. Everytime I install it it wont show up then I open the game and it starts to install but consistently crashes at exactly 2011 megabits. Is there a way around this?

A lot of things in the piety tree doesn't seem to be working actually. The +2 health from shrines doesn't appear to be working (might be wrong because I have a free shrine) and I don't think the pantheon from other religion thing, can't see it anywhere but might just be a hidden modifier.
Piety might be a bit overpowered btw, I'm here getting like 60-70 faith a turn so my piety is going crazy.

I've been playing a lot more Paradox, as Civ5 likes to be Civ5 and crash whenever it feels like it, but now I'm back having some fun, at least before it crashes. :steambored:

Anyhow, there's a couple oddities I've noticed, most likely caused by one of your mods. The only others I have are simple civilisation mods.
Firstly, some barbarians units manage to somehow steal your units hp before their turn. My unit looses 50 hp, and they gain 50, then they attack, really weird.
The other problem is my money magically disappearing, maybe someone is robbing me idk. Thanks Iska, I ask because I am coming from VP! For me, the biggest draw to VP is their excellent AI but I’d like to try your mod as long as the AI is significantly better than vanilla.

I am especially impressed with your government system. Something like that would be amazing addition to my mod list,

Includes Delnar Ersike's Artificial Unintelligence Lite. The full version was included in Il Principe, but got reverted to Lite when I realized it has crashes. (Lite is also included here.) AUI also includes Ninakoru's Smart AI V3, and those are pretty much the two good AI mods for civ 5 unless you want to use VP, which I never do. There are also a couple of difficulty mods that handicap the human rather than overbuffng the AI that you might want to check out, can't remember what they're called rn

So no crashes, but with just AE and STS the city name was normal but when i enabled Command and Conquer the problem cam back. also i still no IGE but maybe i just can't find it

I'm thinking the problem with folder extraction and the game crashing has to to do with path names and folder directories and maximum directory address length and bibbitybabbitybooah, and could be solved by by just rearranging the mod a bit (Mods\Iska's Empires Ascendant\Might and Majesty\Cities, Policies, n GP\GP n GW\Great Inventions (v 5)\Art\Inventions\isotropic_decay.dds -> to something like Mods\Iska's Empires Ascendant\Might and Majesty\Art\GW\isotropic_decay.dds) and I should do that next update but idk I'm not a fuckin technowizard bois

Delete documents/civ 5 and steamapps/common/civ v, revalidate the game through steam (complete reinstall), download and install the manual download of the mod. (Follow the link in the description, download and extract the folder, move it My Games/Civ 5/Mods). Start a game with just Ea+StS, with no other mods installed. (Not just disabled, no other mods installed, EA main menu is okay.) If that still crashes, google 'how to enable civ 5 logging' then send me your logs folder (iskaandismet@gmail.com) when you next crash! Good luck! I'm here to help if you need

So i can't seem to figure out why the in game editor isn't showing and why above the city where their name should be is a random list of icons. Iv'e tried deleting the cache and moduserdata, as well as just keeping 3 mods selected ie EA, Command & Conquer, and Stones and Stars but still the same issues

Just started playing civ again and I tried a few mods but I realized I missed the features in Empire Ascendant too much so I tried it again and it's just as good as I remembered. The few crashes are really worth it imo. So thank you again for this mod :)

It is a weird bug, you can force a "fix" it by going into the folder where they download and creating a folder that has the exact the same name as the CIV5MOD file, and then moving that CIV5MOD file into the folder you just made with the same name.

For some reason, I am having issues when I download this mod through the Steam Workshop. The mods don't come up as folders, only as individual CIV5MOD files.

Sounds like you have EUI installed, which is not compatible. Also hard no on the community patch, the mod will not work with it. Check my last comment on the Stones to Stars page.

Hey Iska, first big kudos to you, the mod is amazing and combines many awesome features from JFDLC and CIv 6, which I've been really missing!

However, as some people before, I am having UI issues (no unit icons, messed city icon) when launching just Empires Ascendant without any other mods enabled (with obviously cleared cache/moduserdata etc). The mod does work with the Community patch added however that leads to the problem where at some point great sculptor and great circus guy start appearing every single turn. If you have any advice how to fix it, would greatly appreciate it!

Regarding my earlier issue; After thoroughly cleaning my documents and the steam commons, then reinstalling the issue seems to be fixed. Been playing for a long time so far and it's been a hoot.
