After I followed your instructions and subscribed to it, should I activate it in the mod list or not?

Hey everyone! Having difficulty with the mod?

Here's what you do: goto the link and download either the lite, or full version FIRST before subscribing to the mod. Now, when you get the file from the website, and once it's downloaded, be sure to edit the properties of the file under more options, and select, 'Read Only' on it.

Now, put it in your data folder. Then subscribe to the mod. Fixes all squares. Make sure to use the mod launcher when you launch Rome II. It'll be shaped like a puzzle icon when you hit 'Play' in your steam library. Your welcome!

BTW, mod author added the full version. Double welcome!

The siege attack animations on the campaign map are bugged. Blocky squares instead of flames.

I have the same problems as @BuzzDeeDe...
This has nothing to do with other mods or graphical settings, because my PC can handle those very good!
And another thing I should point out, is that the Besieged City/Town Smoke is too excessive and unrealistic, imho!

After placing the downloaded movie pack file into the data folder all bare skin textures are invisible.

Yo for some reason the Rome total war II File isn't there and i know that i did download the game. Anyone have the solution?

Hi maybe someone can help me.
I followed your instructions since they are not that complicated. I went for the file with all your effects. Some seem to work, some not. I am always testing that on the first Prologue-Mission.

Fire on the ground from siege weapons and the dust which is created by men marching / running look like big squares, while the siege-weapon effects while shooting and the smoke from burning buildings seem to work. Blood i can't see through the big dust-cubes so i can't say if they work properly.

This is the only graphics enhancement i have installed, except for HD-Cities and HD-Campaign things (just forgot the name but both just adjust the campaign map so there should not be an issue here right?)

I activated the movie-mods, i activated the blood effects in the option-menu. Particles, effects, Terrain and Units are set to the extreme settings.

Do you know anything to help me so i can enjoy those effects you made?

Updated effects:

- Now you can spark the buildings with the incendiary artillery, and they will burn with big flames and smoke columns. In addition, depending on the material they can end up with a nice deflagration.
- The effects of artillery hits on terrain have been improved, with a new artillery impacts texture and raising dirt. Also the incendiary artillery effects on the terrain are improved, with the terrain burning, etc.
- The properties of many particles has been enhanced: now the blood will remain the whole battle duration; the smoke and fire effects, the dust raised by the troops, the desert wind or the snow in the blizzard, are no longer limited by the rendering distance.
- The dust effects now are adapted to each type of terrain (snow, grass, mud, desert).
- Volcanic eruptions on the campaign map.
- No FPS impact noticed, in comparison with the previous version.

fire effects of onagers look odd and not like sreanshots, Ive been trying to fix it by combining it with other graphical mods, the smoke and fire leaves weird smoke trails and fire particles allover the map or in mot cases just fire particle effects spread everywhere without fire or smoke?

sorry i dont want to annoy :/ but does that mean that fire is working now? like if you spam a city with roman Onagers and fireballs that the city starts to burn? if i shoot on carthage for example, nothing starts to burn which is somehow bullshit. like cities with stone houses couldnt burn lmao. thats why rome never burnt, right? haha. idk what the developers thought about just making barbarian cities "burnable"

4. Go to "Options-> Mods" in the game menu and enable the use of Movie type mods.

After enabling this option, the game does not start at all. The loading screen appears for a few seconds, and then the game shuts down completely. After rebooting, a message about outdated mods appears.
I did a clean install according to the instructions.

Came across summary's Rome youtube playlist and adapt his modlist to use your weather and effects instead, nice instructions :)

- Removed tornado like visual effect in the ships when using the "row faster" stance.
- Also is recommended to redownload the Para Bellum - Effects movie.pack file from the description.

Nice effects not as fps hungry as other but it turns off any anti aliasing in game idk how to fix that the game looks really bad without AA

There was a problem recently. I don't get any smoke/dust effects. Fire effects also look different, blood effects work. And yes, I have an extra file in the data folder and the Para Bellum - Effects mod at the top of the load order. Anybody know what it's about?

@ EragusTrenzalore: You only have to subscribe the individual parts if you don't want specifically one of them, but this mod and the Collection that includes this part too, don't require the Blood and Gore DLC, without which you won't see blood effects but there are many other kinds of effects included with these mods.

@ Esoteric knowledge enjoyer: I have not seen to disappear after 40 mins or previous similar reports, so I don't know what could be the issue.

@ [EASY] AstroCat: I have not tried it, but mods of the same kind are going to conflict so they overlap content, will not work at its full potential and likely produce other problems.

be sure there are not other movie type mods in your game data folder, and follow carefully the description instructions.

Is there any way to get blood ground decals to stay permanently? Because as of right now they disappear after like 40 min. A massive improvement over vanilla still though of course, but with DEI battles are longer and so it's more noticeable when they disappear.
Also light smoke from damaged siege equipment and towers (<50% fire damage) has quite a lot of banding, and fires look somewhat washed out during night battles. However, those are just nitpicks.

Other than that though yours are the best VFX and blood mods currently out there for Rome II. So thank you for your work!

I was having the same issue as you, Patrack, and after unticking and ticking movie type mods, it worked. I do notice something a little odd after loading up my campaign in a siege battle. The Dry Effect mode in battle deployment is very bright. Is this normal?

Well I did follow the instructions, the mod is in my data folder, all of the graphics are on ultra and movie type mods are enabled. Though I guess Ill disable movies type mods and enable it again and maybe verify my files and see if that will work.

Hey so I downloaded the mod and I got the para Bellum loading screen so I thought all was well, but that is until when I started a siege and all of the smoke and fire effect are basically 2d squares so I'm kinda confused on whats the problem.

- Thanks to Enkeli for letting me use and adapt his textures and fx files for this update.

This update requires to redownload the Para Bellum - Effects movie.pack and overwrite the previous one with the new version:
