Now with the final Game you may add a Vanilla Version chickenV

Replace the $TYPE_FACTORY by

$TYPE_STORAGE

$STORAGE RESOURCE_TRANSPORT_LIVESTOCK 40
$CONSUMPTION_WATER_REQUIRED_QUALITY 0.75

Means it will produce bio waste and need the live stock farm with the slaughterhouse.

I love this!
Maybe, for balance, this could be slightly tweaked (adding a real demand for water and maybe slightly increasing the crop requirement to like 0.6 instead of 0.5)

The amount of people to manage the farm for that output of meat seems excessive.
Maybe if it would generate some edible food in parallel to the meat, think of the chicken eggs...
20 people is just too many. Otherwise, love your mods for small scale farming, they create this comfy atmosphere when you are starting with a small village and building it up.
Laki Jan 23, 2022 @ 12:37pm
Any chance of making a branch of this mod that produces livestock instead of meat?
LIGHTTECH2 Jul 17, 2021 @ 12:20am
so lovely to have a variety of buildings
Baleur May 28, 2020 @ 8:42am
Its weird in the vanilla game that the cheapest meat available in the world (chicken) isnt available, but a luxury! xD Thank you
Tstorey5 May 17, 2020 @ 7:10pm
still with enough it is pretty reliable

Ever increasing prices means buying anything in is counterproductive eventually. These aren't meant to be stand alone suppliers for a town, more an addition to help towards the upkeep. You will need a few of these and some fish farms to produce enough meat for a reasonable size town. I do plan on doing some other varieties too so that you can use them as part of a modular farming community. These work well connected together too, like the fish farms can. If you connect two up directly by the factory connections then you only have to deliver to and collect from one of them, meaning trucks aren't sitting around waiting to get filled up as long. As I said, these are meant to be slow producers, one small chicken farm won't feed a town in the tens of thousands.

It is a nice looking addition and concept to the game. I tried it for a little over ten game years but could not generate enough meat to supply a community of the size that could spare the 10-20 workers required to operate the farm. Unlike the food supply chain the meat production chain seems to be counter productive. Better off diverting one's crops and workers to food and fabric/clothing lines then buying the meat needed from outside sources to maintain a positive balance sheet. Not everything needs to be in "red". hehehe
Tstorey5 May 15, 2020 @ 6:23pm
cool looking foward to it
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] May 15, 2020 @ 4:02am
Thanks. I will at some point but animals aren't something I have made much of yet
Tstorey5 May 14, 2020 @ 7:44pm
you should try and make more live stock mods such as pig farms, cattle, etc
Tstorey5 May 14, 2020 @ 7:43pm
very nice
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] May 11, 2020 @ 11:09am
You're welcome, glad you like it :-)
Voltaire May 11, 2020 @ 10:58am
Nice! Love it. Thanks!
Marcus Aurelius Apr 14, 2020 @ 2:06pm
Tried it for the first time today. Really cool! Thanks!
Brat Herbert Apr 14, 2020 @ 8:04am
It's what I needed in my village.

hetsvakeshet Mar 1, 2020 @ 12:03pm
That's what I do. The chicken farms are great for making villages somewhat self-sufficient if they are far off, so they are a big plus.
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Mar 1, 2020 @ 8:52am
Unfortunately it's a side effect of them being slow producers. The truck will sit and wait as long as it is getting goods, even if it is a very small amount. The only way to negate this is to set fill percentages at each stop. So say you have 5 of them, then set them at 20%, 40% and so on. Also, use small trucks lol
hetsvakeshet Mar 1, 2020 @ 8:27am
I have used the Chicken Farms, but I always feel like I made a mistake - I have workers, I have storage and the driver in the truck sits...I guess waiting for the chickens to hatch! lol This is, of course, far less disturbing than using the new forklift systems and watching forklifts carry individual cows across the livestock yards!!!! OMG - it reminded me of those horrible PETA videos from years ago. It's really funny to watch in the game, but I feel guilty when I laugh.

@Comrade Kolashnikov there is one in my small farm collection. I am going to be making more rural/farm type buildings but I'm working on some other stuff right now
Comrade Kolashnikov Mar 1, 2020 @ 3:23am
Can you make a brewery for alkohol production
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 28, 2020 @ 4:48am
Well you can make clothing out of flax, hemp, cotton and lots of other various plants. The dev's have said there will be no more crop types so we just have them as corn/crops. Livestock has a cow symbol, and is visualised as cows if you move them by forklift. Having cows coming out of a chicken coop would look ridiculous as I've already said. Plus there are already cattle ranches for producing livestock. If I could have had them produce chickens, feathers, eggs, manure etc I would have done but I am limited to choices, so I chose meat as the most reasonable alternative.
Comrade Sky Feb 28, 2020 @ 4:39am
Chickens are livestock… And you can't make clothes out of corn. That was kind of my point.
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 28, 2020 @ 4:36am
No you make fabric out of corn and chemicals, which can be turned into clothing. Having this produce livestock would just be ridiculous. It produces meat. I'm not having produce anything else, especially not livestock!
Comrade Sky Feb 28, 2020 @ 4:29am
The cattle is just the symbol. You don't make clothing out of corn, do you? That symbol is used for both clothing and food. Could you make a version that makes livestock?
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 28, 2020 @ 4:27am
Chickens produce Cattle, how does that work then?
Comrade Sky Feb 27, 2020 @ 11:44pm
Wouldn't it make more sense if it make livestock?
Werther Feb 27, 2020 @ 12:41pm
good idea
WuTidi Feb 27, 2020 @ 6:46am
Great work! Thx for sharing :) Also cant wait for Pig Farm.
This one is another part I would love but tbh don't know if possible to do.
What I remind from east area called Kollektiv. There was Farmers got Land from Country to work and give a Part to Kollektiv.
A Farm Houses with no Food consumption and low Food production and the possibility to store a small ammount and collect with a van. Do you think this Sound possible as mod?
FEW Feb 25, 2020 @ 9:58pm
"Thanks everyone. Actually I was thinking about doing a pig farm, although modelling the pigs isn't something I've done before. I will certainly give it a go though :-)" - Oh please go for it! And if it goes wrong we might at least get a creeper-farm out of it ;-)
TestDriver Feb 24, 2020 @ 4:40pm
Looks like rural USA. Will be perfect to put in the mountains...:steammocking:
ralftier Feb 24, 2020 @ 2:02pm
very nice idea :)
Xbalamque Feb 24, 2020 @ 12:18pm
Very good. I'm going to try this. Thanks.
siberian_forester_78 Feb 24, 2020 @ 11:16am
This farm rules.
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 24, 2020 @ 9:39am
Thanks guys, yeah they're made for harder starts and smaller towns. Not everyone wants industrial megaplexes. A few more of these and we'll have a nice small rural farm collection :-)
mario Feb 24, 2020 @ 9:04am
Great idea. Goes along well with the fish farm for the early game. i think its balanced, the output of both is not high, so you want to switch to the big meat production anyway around midgame.
of course you could spam the whole republic with poultry...
jon157uk Feb 24, 2020 @ 7:27am
What an excellent idea. Well done and thank you.
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 24, 2020 @ 5:43am
Thanks everyone. Actually I was thinking about doing a pig farm, although modelling the pigs isn't something I've done before. I will certainly give it a go though :-)
argent Feb 24, 2020 @ 3:33am
ha! I was thinking of needing this too! Perfect. So we have fish and chicken meat. How about some sheep with maybe wool or similar?
HenryVR Feb 24, 2020 @ 12:18am
man this is awesome lol next you should make pig farm too
ErwinA Feb 24, 2020 @ 12:13am
Free-range or cage-keeping? ;-)
FEW Feb 23, 2020 @ 11:57pm
Great work. I've just been on your profile and checked out your workshop items only to find out that most of the items I like the best and consistently place in my city come from you! So thanks a lot for all those great buildings and please keep up the good work!
Nosferatii Feb 23, 2020 @ 5:10pm
Great building, thank you!

Would love to see a larger, more industrial version like the large greenhouse mod on here.

Also, do you know if there's any good guides to getting started modding building? Would love to give it a go myself.
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 23, 2020 @ 3:01pm
Haha, thanks NA
OffTheRailsGaming  [author] Feb 23, 2020 @ 3:01pm
Thanks. These are meant for small scale production. There is also a limit to how much detail can go into one building too, making them any bigger would take them beyond the limits
Harder_Daddy Feb 23, 2020 @ 3:01pm
you bloody legend. Now My ants.. I .. erm.. My workers can have a egg a day to go to work on..#

No more soylent greens for them
Elmer_Caps Feb 23, 2020 @ 2:52pm
Hello,
Super good work, and good idea. I find it great.
But why not do it also on a large scale, this can be interesting.
thank you in advance
