What's the issue with the trait? Sometimes there are multiple ways of achieving the same effect from a player POV even thought the script is completely different

I hope you'll update this for build 42
My bibliophile build will thank you dearly lol

Haha, I relate to this. I enjoy reading technical guides and manuals for things, I don't know why.
RH4DB4  [author] Feb 29, 2024 @ 2:06pm
@WORXS
I have often received that request, but have decided not to do it because of several issues.
WORXS Feb 29, 2024 @ 7:17am
i agree with brogus, that would be cool
Brogus Jan 27, 2023 @ 10:29pm
I like the concept of this mod - maybe consider a version that adds it via a trait instead? "Bookworm" trait or something that makes ALL books fix boredom?
RH4DB4  [author] Dec 10, 2022 @ 12:25pm
Balance adjustment was made.
The basic policy remains the same: don't get bored when reading skill books.

However, the effect was made smaller because the amount of unhappiness and stress reduction was too great.
Also, when the character is in poor physical condition, the effect is even smaller.
It was unnatural for them to be easily recovered even when infected by a zombie bite and full of wounds and on the verge of death.

The effect occurs per page read and is almost constant in in-game time regardless of the traits of fast or slow reader.

Balancing may be done again.

My mistake. It works :)
RH4DB4  [author] Aug 5, 2022 @ 4:57am
@pa1ne
No, it's not.
pa1ne Aug 5, 2022 @ 4:35am

lmfao I'm not using this mod because of how you responded to chaotic. Go touch grass RH
Possemaster Jul 11, 2022 @ 11:18am
@chaoticsilver1 That is a brilliant idea. It fits more in as a trait as not everyone has this perk in real life as well.

@chaoticsilver1
Suggestion: Why don't you search the logs to see if anyone else has had the same idea besides yourself?
chaoticsilver Jun 8, 2022 @ 7:52pm
Suggestion: Why not implement this as a trait? A character can be 'studious' or a 'bookworm' or whatever meaning they enjoy reading and learning. At that, maybe even adding in a counter negative trait for a character who gets bored easily when reading.

breaks mp server set up
Stuka May 2, 2022 @ 12:34am
Anyone had the chance to test it in MP?
Niras Apr 23, 2022 @ 8:48am
@RH4DB4
I understand, it was just a suggestion :s
Still it's a cool mod !
RH4DB4  [author] Apr 23, 2022 @ 5:56am
@Nir4s
I think this certainly makes the game easier.
However, I will not do things like slowing down the speed instead of getting the effect, because it does not fit the purpose of this mod.

By the way, I considered making it "traits," but decided against it because it would make it difficult for users to uninstall it if they wanted to.
Niras Apr 23, 2022 @ 3:55am
For the balance wouldn't be better to add is feature as a trait that reduces loss of/increasing happinnes during reading manuals but at the cost of speed (for example)?
LyraLux Mar 20, 2022 @ 11:15am
ok ty
RH4DB4  [author] Mar 20, 2022 @ 2:56am
@KrispyPixel
It worked as far as I tested it by constructing a server-client environment at hand, but I do not know if it works properly when multiple people read the book at the same time, because I cannot confirm that it does.
Multiplayer is not supported, whether it works properly or not, as it cannot be tested satisfactorily.
LyraLux Mar 20, 2022 @ 12:12am
@RH4DB4 Do you know if this works in MP? Have you tried? I'd like to suggest this to the server I'm on.
RH4DB4  [author] Mar 6, 2022 @ 12:45am
@robert.rusk1
It does work.
BobRusk Mar 5, 2022 @ 3:23pm
It doesnt work
LexiconDreams Feb 7, 2022 @ 11:03pm
@Chazmodeus How many people learned to bake bread at the start of the pandemic? I don't know how old you are, but before cell phones, folks would read the back of a shampoo bottle to alleviate boredom while dropping a deuce. Humans get bored quickly and I think it's totally fair to say that a bored survivor might pick up that fishing book to pass a few hours.
Grat Dalton Jan 28, 2022 @ 9:15pm
Thanks, nice mod.
Dirty Wizard Jan 21, 2022 @ 4:07pm
This should be part of the vanilla game, great mod well done
Chazmodeus Jan 15, 2022 @ 6:52am
@Shadowcub this is just like cabin fever for The Long Dark - an inane and stupid mechanic that adds nothing to the game other than to just make it more "gamey" and less survival.
RH4DB4  [author] Jan 14, 2022 @ 11:26am
I think it's a good idea, but there is no end to it, so it's hard to judge.
It applies to anything: cooking, crafting, building, demolition, fishing, exercising, etc.
I think I need this mod, though, because reading is especially time consuming.
Dwarden Jan 14, 2022 @ 8:58am
i second that idea of @anonym!ty ...
Anonym!ty Jan 13, 2022 @ 10:11pm
Could you possibly make a mod similar to this, but for cooking? I find cooking to be quite enjoyable
Shadowcub Jan 11, 2022 @ 10:21am
I am apparently one of those people who do not sympathize. I spent several days wondering why reading stuff like Fishing for Beginners was not alleviating my character's boredom before searching the "problem" and discovering it is a "feature". I dunno, I find learning new things to be stimulating.

So thank you for this.
Dwarden Dec 30, 2021 @ 7:31am
i second what @johannes wrote
it really helps while setting up server / collections and tracking
Johannes Dec 30, 2021 @ 2:06am
@RH4DB4 Please add workshop ID and Mod ID to description of this page.

Almost all other Project Zomboid Workshop mods have this in their description: https://i.imgur.com/Le9WLse.png

Having this on the description page is very useful when managing a dedicated server where you edit a text file instead of using the in-game UI. It would be much appreciated!
RH4DB4  [author] Dec 23, 2021 @ 12:15pm
@DealTime
If you mean "What is the Mod ID in the first place?", it is the ID that PZ uses to identify its mods. That's not a question to ask here.
If you mean "What is the Mod ID of this mod?", it is "ReadingIsNotBoring". This is shown on the right side of the SELECT MODS window along with the Workshop ID.
DealTime Dec 23, 2021 @ 8:11am
Workshop ID : 1949441990
but what is the mod ID?
아이우나 Dec 19, 2021 @ 7:08am
thank you:) have a nice day
Stellar Harbour Dec 18, 2021 @ 9:23am
Bruh, it works, just test by yourself, why asking?
trousers Dec 15, 2021 @ 5:08pm
This still work with Multiplayer?
Stellar Harbour Dec 11, 2021 @ 6:18am
Great mod, immersive, must have
Dwarden Oct 9, 2021 @ 6:07am
thanks, i suspected it to work (by test run and glimpse on the code)
but wanted to be sure and who else to ask than the source of the source :)
RH4DB4  [author] Oct 9, 2021 @ 2:36am
@Dwarden
This is compatible with Build 41.55.
Instead of asking me if this is compatible, try it yourself first and if it is not compatible, say it is not compatible.
It's faster.
Dwarden Oct 8, 2021 @ 7:10pm
q1, is this compatible with 41.55 ? if not can variant be made
UncleLukeNukem Jul 9, 2021 @ 1:05pm
Unimmersive, reading is boring.
