However I recently built a few Robust chitin vests and they weigh 33.00kg? I'm not sure if this is intended or an accidental number bug in the code. Default flak vests weigh around 4.00kg, so wearing a Chitin vest on my soldiers made it hard for them to go on caravans. It seems a little odd that it weighs a little under 2 stone chunks. (40kg)
Very sorry for long delay, I'm a full time student and in full time employment, however have strangely found myself with some free time recently like so many others :(
Will be looking into compatibility with better infestations
Unless you update it, that is.
Great work btw!
I like the idea of few pawns living in some kind of hive/spacer infested outpost.
Thats finally possible now
Anyway Great mod btw!
MiDNight, please don't get your hopes up, as most of those will require an assembly and i only have limited knowledge of coding languages, and by limited I mean I'm level 0 "barely heard of it" ;)
However if you want a leader pawn, I recommend Nandonalts; "Colony Leadership" currently being updated by Staky and Golden Retriever.
I'll add milking jelly from some of the insects, and maybe have a bed type along with walls made from the jelly or wax to act as a pod/hive for insects, but it would be weaker than wood, but fire retardant, while bug lights could spawn from the bed in the same way they do from a hive.
I was also thinking of the kind of stuff that certain insects could do in the sense that they'd help out the colony/hive such as having one of them produce insect jelly or a type of wax that can be used as a building material. admittedly I'm not sure how to best add it besides possibly referring to the silkspider's silk drop from the Animal Collab Project where it does so automatically but I can see a few issues with that at least in terms of balance
I'm not sure how a chitin wall would work, unless i add a cement mixer into the game, I might have a look at adding a patch with Rimbeau's concrete or some other concrete mods, but I added chitin reinforced sandbags, (IRL chitin can be spun to make thread)
Camalie,
I added training to the mod, I had to enlarge scarabs so they should create more chitin now too.
I'll put Spelopedes and scarabs into hauling and rescuing, I'll check today as well to see if Megaspiders can be used in giddyup, and if not add a patch for it, and add them and 'pedes as a pack animal. To me the size of the insects I'd say a 'spider was about the same size and carry weight as a muffalo, and 'pedes could carry maybe 50kg, the multiple legs should allow it to carry a bit more than its size allows.
However if you have any suggestions, i'm happy to implement them, if it involves assemblies then i might have to give it a miss however, due to time constraints mixed with a lack of ability
Haha thanks, I've seen it but never played Lost Planet 1 or 2, for me I just had the Starship Troopers theme tune stuck in my head while i made this.
Thanks, glad you like it!
If I can suggest something then how about advanced intelligence for scarabs and spelopedes and intermediate or simple for megaspiders. The logic behind this would be that megascarabs are supposed to be the workhorse of the hive and so having them haul would best exemplify that. Spelopedes are a mix between scarabs and megaspiders so they can haul as well but I mostly envisioned them being a pack animal in this sense. Megaspiders on the other hand would be something that would be built for fighting and not much else so they would only have enough intelligence to be told who to kill
I am curious as to how expansive you would like your mod to be. Do you want to keep it as close to vanilla as possible or are you open to adding more stuff to it such as diversifying the insectoids?
Sorry no, I didn't change their intelligence, they are still little more than combat troops, but it does leave Scarabs to be something a little more useful, and it would be good to have insects as a little more universal, Cooking dinner at the moment but is that something you would like to see, and I can add it in tonight if you like?
Thanks, I was playing a tribal with a self-made rule of no technology advances unless i capture someone who is a specialist in the field, managed to get a female and male megaspider so wanted to make use of them, decided to make a mod rather than just editing the files myself so it's nice to hear someone else is making use of it!
