I am playing as roma and i have amazing inside farwards and inverted wingers so i tend to change the roles a bit would that mess with the main idea behind this tactic?

Amazing tactic.

Used this formation in my Barcelona League (Yes i'm a big team)
Went the whole season unbeaten in the league, smashed almost every side 5-0 or there abouts, stats showed dominating in shots on goal, possession with little shot against.

I know a a big side with great tactical attributes so not sure how it would fair with lower teams but ive enjoyed smashing my seasons with Barce and bringing through the youth, Fati, Moriba, Pedri have developed into beasts

RW can be changed to from Inv Winger to Ins Forward if you prefer that.
Keeper can also be changed to Sweeper Keeper.
Amazing tactic btw

I tested the tactic over a season and no issues for me. Still working as good as ever.

Currently 26W4D0L (94 scored, 14 conceded) into the premier league with ManUtd using this tactic. Only one 'big' signing in Kingsley Coman to play the AMR role, and some youngsters for the future. Martial has been a beast with 33 prem goals so far playing striker. A lot of yellow cards yes but always see this with attacking, high press tactics. Good work SE7EN

I suggest you take a moment to read my advice above in the description. Especially 6, 10, 11, 15 relates to your problem.

for people saying it doesn't work cause you've lost 3 times - you have to have more than 1 tactic. If you just play the same tactic every game then your team becomes predictable after a couple of seasons and the AI will evolve to start hitting you on the counter. So ideally you need 2 good tactics to switch between and then a third tactic which you only use for away days and tough opposition which is much more defensive minded.

A few other tips I've not mentioned before:

1) I always make sure my CBL is left footed or can use either feet
2) I always make sure my MCL is left footed or can use either feet
3) The LW position I currently have to Inverted Winger as it seems to now perform better than Inside Forward
4) I always make sure to have a player with 15+ in corners and 15+ in free kicks (You will notice a big increase in goals if you do this)

Traits wise, I simply follow what the game tells me. For example the AMR is set to Winger. When you click on the player you currently have selected in that position, notice the game will highlight the key areas the player needs to be in that position. So I do a lot of scouting (first for just 1 week) then if a scout finds a player who looks promising, I fully scout them so I can see all their stats. I use the comparison tool to see if a potential player is better to what I have now. If your a Prem league club you want players 15+ in as many key areas for that position as possible. Don't listen to your assistant managers advice on tactical changes.

I spent hundreds of hours testing multiple variations of this tactic to see the difference the engine would make. So trust me when I say that FM doesn't always implement the minor changes you make to a tactic. Frustrating as it is, sadly it's the way the game is built. Each year the engine does get a little better though and also they add more animations. Hopefully over time this will improve.

I seem to be picking up alot of yellow cards using this formation.

@SE7EN thanks for the informative reply, I appreciate it! You're right, the tactic is working perfectly and if it's at the cost of AMC, then who am I to complain haha. Re strikers, I have Kane and he can never finish when he's through on goal and during counter attacks, he always manages to lose the ball but he does have sub-par dribbling (12). I guess I'll look out for better dribblers?

Another annoying thing are that wingers never choose to square the ball to Kane - when it's the right thing to do - despite instructing them to shoot less and cross more. I feel this is more an FM mechanic issue though as I had that problem in FM19.

Are there any specific traits you personally favour in your players? My assistant manager has been advising me to make AML/AMR not 'run with ball down left/right'.

Yes it's the same for me; the attacking midfielder usually hovers around 7. But I find when my whole team improves in quality (better players) that positions performances do too. The wingers, full backs, and central midfielders often get insane stats which makes you think why not the attacking midfielder right? I think it's impossible for all players in a tactic to consistently get 7.5+ Those kind of stats only get achieved if a player makes key saves, tackles, assists and goals. The tactic is designed to focus play down the wings so naturally the attacking midfielder position doesn't get as many chances as the wingers and fullbacks would.

For me my Strikers score a mixture of goals (mainly in the box goals and one on ones) not just headers so I'm unsure why that is happening for you. Possibly your wingers have very good crossing stats and lower stats in things like flair etc and so naturally cross balls into the striker rather than pass or shoot themselves.

In game you can simply save the tactic again and change the name to whatever you want.

@SE7EN Thanks for the tactic, works great! The only gripe I have is that my attacking midfielder often gets a poor rating (<7.0). Is there a way to improve/get him more involved? They are fully green and fluid for the position. I also noticed my striker only seems to score headers, is it the case for this tactic?

silly question here but is there anyway to change the name of the tactic so it doesn't come in game as Kloppdiola?

After trying to change a few positions, I found that the team's performance was not stable. But 1, even so, your tactics have brought great success.

Go to the staff tab and search for whatever staff you need. Make sure to set the star rating to a high level. Coaches with 15+ in discipline and motivation and a key stat like attacking or defending etc will do well. You can also ask your board for more coaches to spread out the workload, you want it on light, not heavy.

The only two position that can be changes are the LW & RW. Current I have the LW on IW and RW on IW. Still works just as good as the original set up.

It's either this tactic or the vegan diet ...

Deff better than what i was using before but struggle against lower league teams in the cup pretty badly and get hammered by the big teams regularly while using it as Villa.

you can't. If you got low possession, then you always will get lots of cards

Dunno if this is just for me, but this tactic is very hit and miss. I have one of the best possible teams about 5 seasons in on FM at Hertha Berlin and I can only win at home. I have all green positions for my players and good morale but no matter what we will always lose against lesser teams. If they have 5 shots they will score 3 of them. I also cannot seem to score enough goals. If I'm doing something wrong I would love to know but just dosen't seem to work for me.

I used this tactic with Barnsley (expected 24th in Championship). Got playoffs first season, won Championship in second season. Immediately became a stable top 10 team in PL (with Cauley Woodrow getting Golden Boot!!), Champions League qualification coming a couple of seasons later as my budget increased and I was able to bring in the better players.
It seems to be very particular tactic. Doesn't work well if anything is changed - the only thing I do change is to disable hard tackling when picking up too many yellows, also sometimes change to wide attacking width against teams setup defensively (heatmap is your friend there)

Overall great tactic when its in full flow. When you win, you tend to bang in quite a few goals!

I find the Wingers and Striker to be some of highest rated performers. The AP and DPL probably the best performers. The AMC tends to hover around 7.0-7.2 for me but does contribute with both goals and assists. It might be a Morale thing, usually is, talk to them 1 on 1 and tell them you have faith to get back to scoring ways.

Personally I stick with Attacking even when I'm not one of the top teams in the division regardless of being Home or Away.

I've never changed tactic mid season just because a few bad results here and there. I just rotate players who are out of form and do whatever I can to increase the morale. Yes the AI learns but this tactic has always been able to push past each hurdle it's ever faced for me. Stick with it and work on either improving your squad or buying better players.

is it worth keep attacking on away games im dortmund and its being quite inconsistant at the moment any tips will be good

Does anyone have any issues with their AM? I had Martin Odegaard and now Dani Olmo and neither are able to have any end product.

First off this tactic is amazing. Just won the Prem with Arsenal in my second season with 110 points. However, does anyone else have a problem with the 3 of their 4-2-3-1? They are so inconsistent it's frustrating. One game they will all be 8+ the next 6.4 and hardly anything in between. I have good players who suit the roles but they are always they players to underperform when everyone else is very consistently good. Also now I’m in my 3rd season the tactic does not seem to be having the same effect. I know the IA learns so is it time to tweak the tactic or do I need a completely new one?
