It kind of works. It doesn't see ships assigned to stations and It doesn't rename selected ships - only one ship, the one you right-clicked on to click Select, even though the other ships are part of selection. JP, this mod needs a little love :)

Mod is good for renaming fleets, even if it feels overwhelming to use initially. I've put a mini-guide in the discussion section in case it's helpful for anyone. The save feature does seem to work for me.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work with ships assigned to stations.

I wish there were any easy way to rename a bunch of manually selected ships with a simple right click option.
Swirru 24. jan. 2024 kl. 4:35
Sorry but its too complicated mod, the best its simple name colour mod. For me its useless
PurplePancake 1. dec. 2023 kl. 11:06
I am pretty sure the save and load feature doesnt work atleast i dont understand what these things are supposed to do. They seem to do nothing. Otherwise this works great its just really tedious to manually adjust all the color sliders to whatever color u want for a fleet. A working save feature or load featur to just apply the name of another ship would be great

Is it uptodate? [6.x]
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2022 kl. 2:32
at the moment not.. but i can add a possibility for the next version
sennefer 26. dec. 2022 kl. 13:05
When you rename miners you will have the words "Mineralien" or "Gas" in the name. Is there any possibilty to have only the letters "M" or "G" instead? This would make the names much shorter.
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 6. nov. 2022 kl. 7:03
only ships.. maybe stations.. i don't know ^^

How do I just select a group of fighters and just rename them to something different
Nobutora 21. mar. 2021 kl. 5:21
how do you select more ships or one fleet group to rename it doesn't let me
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 18. feb. 2021 kl. 0:46
you can make use of the tag fun of MultiRename.. an if you disable all other options it should only add the Tag.. you only have to rena a navigation beacon or a satellite with the name you want and choose them in the Tag section.. aber think Tag object or how I named it..
ModestEgo 17. feb. 2021 kl. 16:32
ok, so i think i figured it out. sorry. Is it possible to for this to someone utilize unique names currently typed into the ship name, then just add the other stuff onto that?
ModestEgo 17. feb. 2021 kl. 10:38
Ok, i see an option to rename fleet when right clicking on the fleet, but nothing for commanders (i am assuming this is the captains name) I also dont see where to set the tag
ModestEgo 17. feb. 2021 kl. 9:13
It says "chosen setting", but where do i chose that?
ModestEgo 17. feb. 2021 kl. 9:11
Ok, i must be a moron. It says you can rename the fleet, commanders . . . , but how? I see the box, but nowhere to actually type in the new fleet name for example
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 14. jan. 2021 kl. 10:46
Sir.. and no problem :-)
EsotericReverie 14. jan. 2021 kl. 8:12
You, Sir or Madam, are an absolute hero! \o/
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 14. jan. 2021 kl. 8:07
can create a mini mod that will do this.. Will look at this.. this weekend
EsotericReverie 14. jan. 2021 kl. 5:34
Thanks for the tip! It's close but not quite what I was looking for, I think. This is for newly built ships, I'm looking for a way to auto-rename ships whenever they are added to a fleet without having to change the behaviour of the fleet commander.
EsotericReverie 8. jan. 2021 kl. 5:47
Thanks for your great work on this really handy tool! <3 Is there a good way to auto-rename newly added subordinates? I'm using this together with the Civilian Fleets mod and they really complement each other beautifully, but it's a bit of a hassle setting the MultiRename behaviour on the fleet commander each time I add a new vessel to the fleet.
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 16. dec. 2020 kl. 10:59
parameter: ~ Object with Tag -- An object like an navbeacon or satelite renamed with your Tag.. for example "[JP]", "[ARG]"
CHCYQTXFS 14. dec. 2020 kl. 10:27
how to change the tag ?
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 2. nov. 2020 kl. 1:21
at the moment not.. in a later version yes ;-)
jdm5000 1. nov. 2020 kl. 21:26
Can this be used for station subordinates?
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 28. juli 2020 kl. 3:02
Fixed in the beta branch of x4..
CuteJK 27. juli 2020 kl. 21:01
The AI order window is too short and when I try to scroll down to change the other options, the game immediately automatically scrolls to the top for me. As a result I can only change the first 4 options and not the other options. I can't click the confirm button as well.
Mysterius 8. juni 2020 kl. 15:10
Oh... Alright.
I was hoping to have my whole list of ships numbered as long as they were the same.
I remember such mods on X3TC but my memory may be playing me.
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 8. juni 2020 kl. 12:59
Numbering will only applied to subordinates.. in the case you tried it to only one single ship.. :-) else I don't know what the problem could be.. an image of your settings could help
Mysterius 8. juni 2020 kl. 10:58
I don't understand the numbering process. I tried to add numbering but I wasn't able to make it appear.
I created an object with [%1], used it as template, checked the numbering checkbox but no. I am missing something I think.
A5M0D4Y 31. maj 2020 kl. 8:58
Ah i tried naming an object but didn´t used the % as variable placeholder ;)
No need to hurry, take your time and anyway thanks for the great mod so far!
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 31. maj 2020 kl. 7:04
you have to rename a object like a navigation beacon to something like [%1] or {%1}
then you have to choose these object there.. then it will give you something like this: [1] or {12}
i will upload today? or tomorrow another update where i changed a lot and fixed some bugs. also i will update the description ;-)
A5M0D4Y 31. maj 2020 kl. 5:46
Thanks for your fast response and update! Also for your effort regarding the possible loadout feature.

But i encountered some issues regarding the numbering as it won´t number and only "prints" the "number sourrounding", also it seems that upon save the order number reverts to set one -1

i.e. i want to name 4 miners, therefore i put 3 of them under command of the 4th and initiate multirename on the commander the output with my settings reads then:

[Tag] Type Model [Tag] Type Model instead of [Tag] Type Model Number on the subs the commander won´t get the number "duplicate" and only reads [Tag] Type Model

I tried several combinations but i have no clue what this number surrounding stands for!? May you enlighten me please...
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 29. maj 2020 kl. 22:50
first thing.. with numbering.. yeah i know.. i have an idea how i can improve it (where you can completly change the order the name "tiles" occur).. have to test it first.. i can look around if i can find a way to include the loadout as well :-)
sorry for belated answering
A5M0D4Y 27. maj 2020 kl. 15:15
Great Mod but one thing bugs me out - the numbering! I would like to have it at the end instead of infront of the Tag

seen an option in your numbering mod which exactly does the trick so would appreciate if you could consider adding it here aswell, just a tiny number at the end checkbox

And may i also ask for an option to include the "loadout" ( the ones that could be named and saved during ship creation and there also set as name) into the naming convention if possible else an option which won´t override the name already present

Thanks anyways for your effort! keep up the good work
Arquebus X 15. maj 2020 kl. 15:11
Fantastic! Much appreciated.
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 15. maj 2020 kl. 10:28
with the next update i will add something.. i tested it out just a bit.. there is a way.. so the script will set the default to your choosen settings..
Arquebus X 11. maj 2020 kl. 7:39
Is there a way to set, or would it be possible to add, an option to save the setup of a rename? I never use tags, but this means I have to uncheck the add tag every time I rename a fleet. (And I use this instead of AddTag when I rename a single ship, because I am more familiar with it, so I use it a lot.)

Alternatively, or additionally, it would be nice to be able to store which object is used to set the tag. Right now it is always defaulting to the renaming object itself.

Cool mod, however it seems like this is only applicable to fleets. Personally i'd love a mod that automatically renames ships the moment they're constructed according to a predetermined scheme so that every ship has a unique name, possibly even different schemes depending on what model or even saved loadout, for example here is how i like to name my ships:

SIS Boa MF-4056-C (Sanguna Industries Ship Model Boa Medium Freighter #4056 Cargotype Container)

SIS Alligator MM-6298-G (Sanguna Industries Ship Model Alligator Medium Miner #6298 Cargotype Gas)

SIN Cobra MC-9406-AF (Sanguna Industries Navy Ship Model Cobra Medium Combatship #9406 Role Anti-Fighter)

SIN Chimera SC-2780-B (Sanguna Industries Navy Ship Model Chimera Small Combatship #2780 Role Bomber)

It would be super neat if i could predetermine naming schemes and than choose one of them in the shipyard/wharf as part of the loadout, though i doubt that would be possible.
Darius Sanguna 19. apr. 2020 kl. 20:18
Another thing i'd love to see are namelists, so i feed the script a list of proper names and than the script replaces the placeholder randomly with a name from the list, so that ship names like this would be possible:

SIS Wyvern Mount Everest LM-7436-S

SIS Buffalo Chicago LF-8273-C

SI Sakurayuki XLC-0001-CV

SI Kurokami LC-0002-DD

Though this naming scheme would require multiple name lists, so the Placeholder would prolly look something like this [Name='list'] and defining a naming scheme would likely look like this:

SIS [S(hort)Model] [Name='list'] LM-[XXXX]-G (number of Xs representative of how many digits the number is supposed to have)

Anyway, i'm going to stop rambling about my hopes and dreams now and i don't think that you actually want to write a script like that, but i've put it out here, on the off-chance that you are actually willing to write it.

Have a nice Day :)
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 16. apr. 2020 kl. 11:03
i use it with latest non beta patch ;-)
X-Neo-X 16. apr. 2020 kl. 10:57
Is it working with latest patch 3.1?
ric.evans 20. feb. 2020 kl. 8:26
Thank you,
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 16. feb. 2020 kl. 4:01
first sorry for that very belated answering... i had a very long modding pause.. i updated it if you want you can test it now... its functioning on my PC Beta 3.0_5
ric.evans 27. jan. 2020 kl. 10:42
I have tried your mod with the latest version, (beta 5) and there is no item for it in the right click menu for a fleet leader. I have tried all the other places I can think of but it does not appear anywhere.

Some guidance as to how to activate this mod would be appreciated.
JanPanthera  [ophavsmand] 22. nov. 2019 kl. 2:43
i can create a mod that only does numbering. so you can add numbering at the front or at the end of the name
Multox 21. nov. 2019 kl. 15:14
This looks great! But what does "Use Numbering" do? I always manually rename my ships to "Eclipse 1", "Eclipse 2" etc. Does this do something similar? That would be awesome.
