Found the manual download and that worked.
Might need to update your steam link if you ever see this that is.

@gunho1226 who taught you how to speak? wtf are you even talking about?
gunho1226 Oct 19, 2017 @ 5:34am
tips: If one of you guys has already get a artist or writer and then down this mod and try to make a art things, then it would just disappear and nothing would be happen. if you want to make a new art, you should get a new artist or writer born by this mod.
soulsurrender Jun 22, 2016 @ 10:43am
@Faulkner: I encountered two cases with the TXT_KEY error. One was Egon Schiele and the other Edvard Munch. I tried to figure out where the problems are in the XMLs but I assume I don't know enough of modding, since I didn't find anything.
RiverFish Nov 14, 2015 @ 1:32pm
Faulkner... Quite the fitting username!
XboxAddict77 Sep 2, 2015 @ 6:46pm
Hey! I know its been a while, but this mod is great!
Faulkner  [author] Jun 11, 2015 @ 5:48pm
Right you are! I suppose what I should have used as the title was "The Chronicles of Narnia" as I was shooting for something recognizeable - cest la vie.
dramatur_ May 31, 2015 @ 11:43am
Love this mod, and hate to be a pedant, but the C.S Lewis quote you use is from The Last Battle, not The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
Av Rand Apr 5, 2015 @ 10:54am
you should make a tutorial on how to add great works and great artists to the game
Rosse Woelmuis Sep 3, 2014 @ 11:07am
he do you take sugetions fore great artists?
Jedi Ranger Kendor Aug 11, 2014 @ 2:04pm
can you link me to the page that showed you how to add more art to the game?
Dennis[DK] Aug 10, 2014 @ 6:38am
First pic a graphic glitch?
DCG_Anubis Jun 26, 2014 @ 10:37pm
Ive had the same problem in more then one game where i cant choose to create great work with the great person and for me it dosent help to save and load.. normaly its the writer or musicen that runs out first.. but im also running realy long games...
jccohen Jun 20, 2014 @ 8:34am
It turns out it was a one time bug. After I saved the game and went back in to it, artists proceeded normally.
Faulkner  [author] Jun 19, 2014 @ 7:30pm
@jccohen, if this mod is activated in your mod list and you are playing in the "Mods" section and not Single Player, then you are likely not doing anything wrong. This mod adds not only variety but also adds to the total number of great works possible in the game. When your artists can only make golden ages, that means you have exhausted all available great people - which would mean that even using this mod, your game has still run out. If you are in a very large game, that is certainly still possible, as AI players will also consume great people.
jccohen Jun 19, 2014 @ 2:41pm
Okay, so using this, I hit a wall on great artists. Can only do Golden Ages. Did all the civs just happen to make even the expanded number of great works, or does this mod only add variety, not number of works possible? Just want to see if I'm doing something wrong. BTW, thanks for the mod, the repetition of great works can get boring.
XboxAddict77 Jun 1, 2014 @ 4:24pm
Sure go ahead! I'm already using your mod! lol. I think I might get back into this modding scene and start modding in civs.
Faulkner  [author] Jun 1, 2014 @ 2:35pm
Hey XA77, thanks for the kind words! I would never have been able to figure it out on my own. ;) You never did end up releasing your version, did you? I may have to put a few from your list into my next update - there were still plenty of unrepresented Great Works out there!
XboxAddict77 May 31, 2014 @ 3:19pm
Hey, Great Mod! I kind of left the whole Civ modding scene, but I'm glad to have helped! I guess the tutorial was good. lol
Faulkner  [author] May 10, 2014 @ 8:03am
@Hodgepodge

Thanks for the report! You know, after I made the initial release, I did notice that Malory was in fact present in the game already. Goethe though I had not realized. I will make a note of that - I'm hoping to make an update in the future, and I'll be sure to address it.
Hodgepodge May 8, 2014 @ 4:29pm
I love this mod but I felt I should mention that I noticed on the civfanatics post, you mention you've added both Goethe and Malory, even though the both of them are already in the game. That aside, the mod is still wonderful. :D:
Faulkner  [author] Apr 27, 2014 @ 1:42pm
@ Cthulhu

Hi! Are you able to tell me if there is a certain image/artist that has caused this issue for you? Can you also tell me what screen resolution you play the game at?

I did plenty of testing myself, and during that time I did notice that bug happening occasionally and did what I could to ensure that the images were not too large. But it could be that either I missed one (or more), or they may behave differently for users who are playing at a different screen resolution than I. Any information you can provide may help me squash any bugs, and I certainly want to ensure a smooth play experience. Thanks!
RonanTheRonin Apr 26, 2014 @ 8:19am
For those of you who run into the issue where the art is too big and you can't see the close button, just quick save and load it, works like a charm if a little inconvient.
lightninli Mar 8, 2014 @ 12:48pm
@Faulkner
I love this mod! It got me thinking of other great people left off the list. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to do one of these mods myself. If you're up for it, I have a list of great people missing in action that I'd love to see if you can include in a future update.
DJUNGELSKOG Jan 3, 2014 @ 12:27am
@Faulkner Sorry for the long delay without talking. In the time since we last spoke I've been swamped with writing one of my thesis papers and working on a couple of game design projects with some folks. I'm afraid I need to spend most of my time on academic and professional demands at the current time, but I'd love the opportuntity to benefit the Civ modding community in the future. I may have time in the coming months, though, to work on this, so I'll let you know if I can work on African Literature additions again. Best of luck to ya mate!

@Qoma

This mod is very well made and polished.

The splash image are beautiful and well integrated in the game also the historical facts are accurate.

Thanks for this mod!
COOL DAD Dec 16, 2013 @ 4:42pm
Oh, and Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring as Great Artists.
COOL DAD Dec 16, 2013 @ 4:40pm
The lack of Chinua Achebe is kind of a gross oversight on Firaxis' part.

Might I suggest Simone De Beauvoir/"The Second Sex" and Betty Friedan/"The Feminine Mystique" as Great Authors? Meets the criteria of 1: more women and 2: significant cultural influence - those are the foundational texts of 20th century feminism.
Faulkner  [author] Nov 10, 2013 @ 10:20pm
@Kudomundo: thanks for the report. Things should be fixed when you download the latest version (v 3).

@Highlandheadbanger: unfortunately, the coding is always the hardest part, and takes the longest. ;) However, if you would like to provide me with a list, I'd definitely be interested in taking a look. I'd only want to include the very most notable you could provide, as that's a theme in the mod; I also like certain kinds of quotes - game appropriate stuff is always best; biggest of all, is that I also wouldn't be able to guarantee when I would be able to update it with your list (I wouldn't want to maintain two separate mods - I would just put them into this mod). So it could take some time to finish. All that said, I would definitely be interested in taking a look.
Faulkner  [author] Nov 10, 2013 @ 10:15pm
Mod updated with a fix for the Artist names that weren't displaying properly. Hopefully it will propagate through the Mods window in-game soon, so it's easy to download.
Kudomundo Nov 10, 2013 @ 5:08am
Found a minor error. A great artist had was designated TXT_KEY_GREAT_PERSON_TOM_THOMSON (Great Artist) . The actual great work functioned perfectly fine, only the name was off.
DJUNGELSKOG Nov 9, 2013 @ 2:38pm
Qoma, I'm interested in doing an African Literature mod adding Great Writers from Africa to the generally Euro/American/Asian-centric lists. I have a professor who is an esteemed expert on African literature and seeking some direction from him on authors/poets/playwrites besides obvious choices like Chinua Achebe would only take a small amount of time. Unfortunately, I don't know how to mod or program that well. If I were to put together a list of great works and quotes, could you make the mod?
Faulkner  [author] Nov 3, 2013 @ 10:40am
Just a note to anyone else who may have noticed something similar - I've tracked down the bug and am in the process of fixing it. There are actually a few different Great People affected. It is a frustrating bug, that I dealt with as I was making the mod - all I can say is that Firaxis's XML code is bizarrely fragile. One minute the code will work, and the next it will not.

Unfortunately, the fix will have to wait a couple of weeks, because I am on vacation in Hawaii and away from my workstation! ;) However, once I return, I will be right on it. I never make anything unless it's 100% satisfactory.
DJUNGELSKOG Oct 27, 2013 @ 6:24pm
Just happy to help make a great mod better! :D
Faulkner  [author] Oct 27, 2013 @ 3:17pm
Agh - you're right, I did add her after all! I knew the painting better by the title "The Horse Fair" than by the artist, so I had forgotten about her. Thank you for the report. I will look into it and release a fix when I am able.
DJUNGELSKOG Oct 27, 2013 @ 3:04pm
Exact wording of the bug is TXT_KEY_GREAT_PERSON_ROSA_BONHEUR.
DJUNGELSKOG Oct 27, 2013 @ 3:01pm
This what perplexes me about your comment Qoma, I looked at all my different Great Works mods (I added nearly all of them). None of the other mods included Rosa Bonheur, but when I follow the [ http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=510383 ] link to where you list all the Great Writers and Great Artists included in your mod, I find Rosa Bonheur's "The Horse Fair" 8th from the bottom between Robert Seldon Duncanson's "Still Life with Fruit and Nuts" and Richard Diebenkorn's "Ocean Park No 27". Could you possibly have been mistaken?
Faulkner  [author] Oct 27, 2013 @ 1:33am
@Highlandheadbanger: do you have a different Great Works mod installed? I did not add a Great Person named Rosa Bonhuer! There is a different great works mod that specifically adds a selection of female artists - you may have gotten this great person from that mod.
DJUNGELSKOG Oct 26, 2013 @ 9:51pm
Hey just wanted to let you know about a bug I found: Rosa Bonhuer's code is messed up. Her name appears as Txt_object_Rosa_Bonhuer or something like that.
Wolferine Oct 24, 2013 @ 12:52am
its great!
coeus_160788 Oct 21, 2013 @ 6:23am
Qoma thank you for asking my question. I understand all that you say and the problem is the language. The mod is correctly downloaded and i have played a lot since I suscribe to it. And I didn't use another important mod, just one specific world map. I play in spanish. And if you let me a suggestion, personaly I would prefer to have got it in english (completly, also the writers) if it is posible than didn't have it. But don't worry, thank you a lot and this is still a great mod.
jerry.healy Oct 19, 2013 @ 4:31pm
This mod added a lot to the later game. I usually use the largest maps with lots of civs, so playing for a cultural victory often meant trying to clobber the strongest tourism-owning civ's capitol and hoping to ransack several great works.
Faulkner  [author] Oct 19, 2013 @ 10:55am
Hi Coeus, are you playing Civ 5 in a language other than English-US? Only English is supported, sorry. (there are many languages available in Civ 5, but I have no localization resources at my disposal and to do so would make the mod much larger – and I unfortunately only speak English)

If you are playing in English, I find the Steam workshop is finicky with downloading subscribed mods - you may need to restart a few times before it fully downloads. As it is relatively large due to all the art, it might just be taking a while for you to finish the download. Or, you might have another mod conflicting with it, though I couldn't tell you what kind of mods could do that unfortunately.

As you can see there are any number of things that could be wrong. Unfortunately I can only offer so much help. Many people are using the mod without issue as we speak, though, so that leads me to believe it is one of the above issues or some other outside issue that is unrelated to the mod.
coeus_160788 Oct 19, 2013 @ 10:13am
I love this mod, it's a great idea but I have some problems with it. I put it but after I save, quit and turn back to the game it doesn't appear in the mods activates during the game. And by the moment (405 turns) I haven't seen still a new artwork. And the writers runned out, my last one couldn't make an artwork. Anyone has the same problem? And someone knows how to fix it? Thank you to everyone.
Faulkner  [author] Oct 13, 2013 @ 8:02am
@MoToX: the game balances without any issues in my opinion; ALL civs, not just you, can continue to generate great people, there just isn't as low a limit set at some arbitrary number. Firaxis didn't make only so many great people for balancing reasons - see their fall patch, where they included more of their own as proof. With this mod, your game is now balanced by how many you can manage to generate, (which is exactly what happens on smaller maps anyway) rather than by "well sorry, you ran out." For civs not going for cultural victories, whatever works they generate continue to give them culture as normal too. Long story shirt, the game is already balanced around having great people.
MoToX Oct 13, 2013 @ 1:44am
how is the mod balancing? more great work means more tourism and more influence on other civs. is that working fine?
jezreel062 Oct 6, 2013 @ 3:05am
Good idea, not run out yet but you can see ona longer game that it'd be easy to.
SamBC Oct 4, 2013 @ 11:55am
@mrbadxample: you run out of them rather quickly when using the maximum (rather than default) number of civs.
