another potential use would be allowing you to turn her ripost off for fights where you don't want to counter a certain enemy (such as Swine God.)
it's an odd trinket but it does allow for new ways to utilise the class.
Even after the release of the Darkest Dungeon 2 Duelist DLC character, I found myself really gravitating towards the Thorn as a the better designed character in every aspect. Theme, gameplay, versatility, balance.
It's a masterpiece, and I always play Darkest Dungeon with this mod installed, and pretend it's just a vanilla character because of how well she fits in. Nothing but praise to the modder!
Great idea and I like the graphic but she lose terribly even when you master her
Thorn losing riposte after getting hit is extremely punishing, especially, as I've said, in early game fights. But then again, in lategame you can boost her dodge to absurd degrees and she'll deal with any eilte monster and boss (except for Shambler and Hag). Which is a fair trade off, especially if you have a lot of monster mods installed like I do.
Her healing trinket is a bit busted, I must say.
I've been experimenting with her more and as I get more familiar with the character and think that I'd judged too soon. I'd slept on some the utility of her defensive stance, especially her heal, and once I stopped trying to play her as pure damage my enjoyment increased significantly.
2: she does not really loose her riposte, she'll loose riposte against other attacking enemies in the same round, which is not the same, and in fact doesn't happen this much.
3: I've been planning to do that but it's very difficult tbh (mission level apply different bonuses). I assumed that it's not only the heroes that are affected by light level, but the monsters are becomming stronger too.
@randywache
1: you don't tell exactly why she'd need more dodge, but it's something I've paid lot of time to check. It would be busted to boost her base dodge. You have trinkets to do so, and it's one way to build her basically.
2: absolutely no way. Fencer Stance activates the best riposte of the game compared to vanilla. I know mods are often OP but that was not my goal.
3: basically was the case when the mod was released. It was confusing and too random (dodge plus chance to get distracted). This design is more consistent, by far.
4: I guess you've seen that perforate has armor penetration? Thrust is balanced compared to vanilla skills like BH or arbalest, I don't think it would be fair to add penetration. Still, you got trinkets for that too.
5: Maybe, that's propably ok to do - interesting but I likely won't work on her anytime soon.
-20% damage (it's a lot, a hard amount of damage gone for what...?)
50% change (1 on 2) to get a block (4 monster or less in every battle and totally useless against boss)
+10 ACC which I can get with a lot of other trinkets plus somethingelse (like crits)
90 shards???? Really?
Class mod is great but this trinket is nonsense.
1. Her base Dodge is a bit too low, which makes early dungeons a huge pain since you can't put seven gorillion dodge buffs on Thorn yet at this stage.
2. Switching to Offensive Stance should at least give more Dodge, because Thorn's entire raison d'être is to dodge attacks, unlike other classes with Riposte who can at least tank a hit or two without losing their Riposte and getting stressed.
3. Not sure if it is even possible to circumvent, but why does she still get penalties for low light conditions? Same goes for traits that are clearly all about eyesight.
i never noticed the bleed riposte or the subtle change in the sprite. didnt know perforate did that! that makes it a better skill than i thought, perhaps it is fine as is
That may make this skill a bit better in your list. I often use this without marking enemies, it's a good all-in-one skill, often not the best but a fine option.
I agree there is no point in equiping perforate AND thrust, these two don't make sense together. Maybe they should have been differenciated a bit more, but it's not likely a thing I'd do now.
1. For just dealing damage, Thrust's increased damage vs Marked makes up for the lack of armor piercing entirely. In addition, if you equip Thrust and not Perforate, you'll have one more skill (a good stun vs marked!) to use in defensive stance, decreasing perforate's comparative value even further.
2. One of her Crimson Court trinkets gives her 50% armor prot. Once that item is obtained, the reasons to equip Perforate become even fewer.
I suggest subtly buffing Perforate by giving it pos3 availability. This would make little sense thematically, but would give Perforate one good use for Thorn backline support or Dare builds.
Ignore the people that complain, I think people need to be a little insane to leave comments on workshop pages (I know I am) and they tend to only write when they are passionately negative.
I know it's too much to ask, but I really hope someday you'll try getting her into DD2 when they finally give it the modding tools they are promising. It would be a dream come true! But no matter what, I'm looking forward to whatever you do next!
Actually, you don't deserve any modded content, please uninstall the game, it'll save time to other modders.
