YES It still works fine on 1.5, I just compared full vanilla game and with this mod only
Shade Sep 3, 2024 @ 12:56am
Any confirmation if its still working yet? Cant play a colony of dwarves without this!
AoQC: Little Newfie Gal Jul 8, 2024 @ 10:53am
I just updated to 1.5... It says it doesn't work, but it's not throwing errors as far as I can tell.
TracerFoxTEK May 3, 2024 @ 1:12pm
Has anyone been able to test if this is still working in 1.5? It's just patching some XML values, so unless 1.5 changed the names of any of those variables, this *should* be working just fine.
moondansr Apr 16, 2024 @ 6:14am
Thanks for this, hoping to see a 1.5 version!
uve2509 Apr 14, 2024 @ 3:55am

You've saved my pirate playthrough, now they can actually enjoy themselves amongst their plunder rather than all being dead of liver failure a few weeks in

3 a day?
are you okay Irl
Thats kinda alcoholic lvl 1 imho
fwhs2000 Aug 27, 2022 @ 1:13am
Use Resource Dictionary to solve that problem a little easier
TheGoofyOne  [author] Sep 11, 2021 @ 2:25am
I wish it would, but no. Each definition (item introduced into the game) has to be reviewed and patched individually.
KingZork Aug 21, 2021 @ 11:24pm
Does this work on alcohol in general(sake for example?)
Pillowesque Aug 13, 2021 @ 1:08am
I'm not sure what that essay is on about but mods are super optional and I really appreciate this one being updated to 1.3 cheers

You still might wanna change those "two month" in description into 60 rimworld days though. You know, in order not to scare people so much... Because some people, like me for example, remember that 3 months is 15 days in RW, but don't (well In my case “didn't”, cus I got false alarmed and looked it up, obviously) know how long it takes the pawns to get a Cirrhosis.from beer.
Reianor Jul 31, 2021 @ 10:27pm
Full disclosure - no idea how much you need to drink to get it IRL. Not a doctor, not a drinker, don't even have any drinking relatives. Well, close-enough-to-count relatives that is. Many of the more distant ones actually had “drinking problems”. And pretty bad ones too. And they took them to their graves. Early graves. Errr... but that's too much information...

Just thought it's strange that after all that "no it will, but by fifty" discussion no one went into RW's time compression.

But NOW I notice that someone actually DID mention RW's time compression before I did... I just managed not to notice somehow... awkward...

I guess that's Muphry's law for you. (A subtype of Murphy's laws, the "typo" in the name is symbolic, not accidental. This ones goes - whenever you write something correcting someone else, there, in turn, will be an error in what you wrote.)
TheGoofyOne  [author] Jul 31, 2021 @ 6:09pm
@Reianor - 3 a day isn't going to give someone cirrosis here on earth :), so that's what this MOD is based on, being able to have 3 a day without much effect if any. More will still cause issues and the more your colonist drinks the faster it will happen if i'm not mistaken..

But TY for the input :)
Reianor Jul 29, 2021 @ 7:21am
12 pages of comments and no one even mentiones it...

What you called "2 moths" of drinking is actually 1 year of drinking.

RW packs 6 days into one (becasue watching your colnists do the same things 6 times as often would be less fun).

https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Beer#Long-term_Effects
"they may develop Cirrhosis of the liver in a mean time of 60 in-game days (or 1 year)"

One might argue that 1 year is still too fast, but I don't think so. It's unrealisticly fast, yes. But this is a game not chronical diseases progression simulator. Some things needs to happen faster than IRL or they become meaningless.
I mean are you going to sit and watch your colonists drink themselves to Cirrhosis over 30+ years? (aka for 500 real life hours if done at the rate of 1 tps)
I know I wouldn't.

thanks

Updated to 1.3.....
crack Jul 21, 2021 @ 12:09am
Hey Op, I really enjoy this mod and use it on all of my playthroughs! Do you have plans to update to 1.3?
Dirty Mike and The Boys Jul 15, 2021 @ 5:51am
@bidiguilo he has a separate mod for VBE: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2362096220

@neosuduno I don't think it changes coffee or tea, just the liquor
bidiguilo Jul 12, 2021 @ 9:59am
is this mod compatible with the other mod for vanilla brewing?
Red1 Apr 28, 2021 @ 1:04am
An all-encompassing alcohol mod would definitely be awesome!
Neosuduno Mar 7, 2021 @ 1:47am
Could you do the same for coffee and energy drinks from the brewing expanded mod. Would love for the pawns to indulge in caffeine without withdrawal.
DetectiveQuackadon Feb 17, 2021 @ 6:45pm
Very cool mod :D
TheGoofyOne  [author] Feb 1, 2021 @ 4:35pm
Short answer, yes. Long answer - I think it's time for an all encompassing Alcohol MOD that checks to see if you have a MOD then applies the needed patching.
SirAlfred3rd Feb 1, 2021 @ 12:28pm
Can you make a similar mod to go with CuproPanda's Drinks and the mead in RimBees?

TYVM! But this is my creative outlet for fun, and i'm 50 years old and just hack shit up is all, so I doubt they would need a goofy old dog like me ;) But I appreciate it very much.
Karmapowered Jan 15, 2021 @ 4:51am
@TheGoofyOne Quick, efficient, professional, they should hire you at VBE. I raise my proverbial mug in your honor, dear mod author. Thank you very much ^.^
TheGoofyOne  [author] Jan 14, 2021 @ 8:21pm
Karmapowered - You weren't kidding! VBE needed to be NERFED. DONE! - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2362096220

TY I have no idea how I reverted back to an old save before uploading. My apologies. I've uploaded the right one.
Furnaceman Jan 13, 2021 @ 12:24pm
Getting this error after today's update

[Beer is Alright] Patch operation Verse.PatchOperationReplace(/Defs/ThingDef[defName = "AlcoholTolerance"]/comps/li[1]/severityPerDay) failed

Mod list and load order have not been changed.
TheGoofyOne  [author] Jan 13, 2021 @ 7:39am
AmbiguousMonk - I never edited that part. Thanks for pointing it out! I've patched that as well from .016 to .16 so we can drink to our hearts content......... sorta. Though no cirrhosis I still got alcohol dependency at 4 a day after a year and a half with the last couple days testing.

Karmapowered - This interested me as I hadn't used the MOD yet. As far as for Vanilla Expanded, I've installed the mod and am running through it now. trying to understand it all and how everything is created and with what and then giving colonists drug policies to have a few a day to see what happens of the different drinks, which there is a few so it may take a bit. I very well may write a nerfed patch like I have for RimCuisine though so....
Karmapowered Jan 11, 2021 @ 12:38pm
When time allows, I also would welcome further compatibility with "Vanilla Brewing Expanded" (and any of the Vanilla Expanded mods actually, since they're fairly prevalent among most players by now I guess).

Thank you for creating and sharing the mod with us.
AmbiguousMonk Sep 9, 2020 @ 5:01pm
I may be misunderstanding the patching, but the description seems a little misleading since this mod only makes having two beers a day perfectly safe. This mod does making drinking three a day take much longer to develop addiction/cirrhosis, but drinking exactly three a day, every day will still cause it to happen eventually

This is because while the tolerance per beer is decreased from 0.016 to 0.008, the tolerance fall rate is still the vanilla -0.016 per day, meaning it takes a day and a half for the tolerance from three beers (0.008*3=0.024) to wear off completely
