Tested. Adding files for the names in that way would add your lists to the vanilla ones, rather than replace them. You gotta use the 'nilla files (00_britannic.txt, etc)
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 23, 2020 @ 11:12am
And you would want, say, your "CNP_britannic.txt" in a subfolder titled "britannic".
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 23, 2020 @ 10:56am
Or at least, doesn't apply AFAIK. I'll test it real quick.

Your mod is a name replacer, so my advice on the GetS thread doesn't apply to your files (taking those steps would make the game load both the vanilla latinized names *and* your new Celtic ones). HOWEVER: Your CNP files, if you were only adding things, these lines would need to be removed (you want just the names):

Good!
Thanks for the infos! I want to make my mods more compatible, I tried what you wrote in the Gladio et Sale compatibility thread (and other stuff) but I clearly don't know how to do it... I'm new to moding
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 23, 2020 @ 4:31am
Sorry about all this ^^' Thank you for being attentive.
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 23, 2020 @ 4:31am
I found the issue. Another mod touched cultures, so patched that one too. All good now.
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 23, 2020 @ 3:34am
It works when *only* your mod is loaded. So there's definitely something else in my load order that's not an obvious culture editor. I've narrowed it down to only a couple of mods that could be conflicting, and temporarily patched the base files of Gladio et Sale to play nice.
Daroya  [author] Apr 23, 2020 @ 1:13am
Tried everything you said but still the same...
But again everything is fine when I launch the game with my local files.
Do you still have the same problem when you launch only my mod?
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 21, 2020 @ 2:32am
Hmm... Try moving it to the bottom of your load order. If that doesn't work, try renaming one of the 00 files to something that doesn't match vanilla, like CEL_gallic.txt. This last option should, in theory, load your files alongside the vanilla ones without replacing them, so both namesets should spawn if the mod is working.
Daroya  [author] Apr 20, 2020 @ 12:21am
I rechecked all the files and nothing is wrong. Everything works fine with my mods (local files) but I'm unable have them in the game with the workshop files (the known problem of mods ticked but not appear in game)
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 19, 2020 @ 4:56pm
It's worth checking to see whether Paradox changed the format of *their* name files, and making yours match if they have. Otherwise, I'd look into others who have had their mods bug updating from 1.3 to 1.4.
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 19, 2020 @ 4:52pm
Currently I'm playing with Gladio et Sale Light, but the mod was having issues even without other mods loaded (first time playing 1.4, so had to filter everything to see what worked).
Daroya  [author] Apr 19, 2020 @ 3:03am
Actually, I don't know what's wrong. Works fine with my local files but I can't get the workshop files working
Daroya  [author] Apr 19, 2020 @ 2:44am
@Perry No problem for me... Do you have other mods enabled?
Daroya  [author] Apr 19, 2020 @ 1:10am
@Perry I'll look into it
Perry7484 / Briantin de Montrei Apr 19, 2020 @ 12:26am
This unfortunately seems to cause an infinite loading bug in the 1.4 patch, where the game gets stuck at 'building world from history...100%".
mage Dec 12, 2019 @ 10:50am
@Jozef could also use *-ingaz or *-lingaz
Jozef May 13, 2019 @ 3:13am
Great :)
Daroya  [author] May 13, 2019 @ 2:07am
Collection done!
I'll do like you for the family, only the "father" name. It look better for the clans names
For the dynasty, I don't know when it appear in game. So "father" name also.
Jozef May 12, 2019 @ 4:17am
I already released it: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1738626314

Not sure what your idea was further. You can simply make a collection and add both of our mods to it. I already mentioned your mod in my description, at least.

As for your post:

- for the entire family: I could use a Proto-Germanic plural suffix here. (So that'd be something like "Theodoz"; note that pretty much my only source here is Wiktionary: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-s#Dutch)
- for the dynasty: I guess this depends on how it looks in game. If this name only appears as a last name (like the last name of Seleucos), I'd say there's no reason not to simply use the name for the entire family here as well.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean with your last sentence.

Please read my reasoning again in the mod description I wrote. If you still think your way (having "Theodoz" as family name instead of "Theod") is better, I'll change my mod to be consistent with yours :)
Daroya  [author] May 12, 2019 @ 2:56am
Ho, yes! I agree consistency is good.

You have 4 names in the files :
- for the males ( Theodsunuz)
- for females (Theodduhter)
- for the entire family, here is the "ii" in latin (Theodii). If you have a plurial in Germanic you can use it here or the "sunuz". In my case i will use the "genos" cause it also mean "Familly, Dynasty"
- for the dynasty, here is the "id" in english (Theodid). It's like Rurik Rurikid, Seleucios Seleucid, etc... I will also use the "genos". I suppose the "sunuz" can go here too.

So, what do you think?

The name of the father without suffixes is weird for me cause they are, all of them, sons and daughters of him, so, the name rule apply with male preference.
Jozef May 11, 2019 @ 10:26am
So that'd be Theudis as clan name (though, it should be "Theod"; I made a mistake there earlier :p)
Jozef May 11, 2019 @ 10:25am
By uniform, I mean the way the names are changed should be uniform: we should use the same method/logic.
My method pretty much implies every clan has a single father, of whom all are sons and daughters. So the clan name is simply the name of the "father", without any suffixes.

I'd prefer not to use Latin suffixes anyway (-ii, not sure where -id is from, but I'm pretty sure it's not Germanic), as I want the names to be entirely Germanic (in my case).
Daroya  [author] May 11, 2019 @ 10:09am
Theudis or Theudii/Theudid for your exemple
Daroya  [author] May 11, 2019 @ 10:08am
I can't do 3D modelling, so no uniforms from me...
That's a good start! For the clan names i don't know what is better between "Iblio" or "Iblii/Iblid"
Jozef May 11, 2019 @ 9:40am
Damn, now I feel a bit stupid :p
Thanks.
We could do that. We'd probably need to make them uniform, in that case. At the moment, I'm using patronyms as last names (because, as you mentioned, last names didn't exist here yet), and the name of the "father" as the clan name (so male: Theudissunuz, female: Theudisduhter and clan name: Theudis).
Daroya  [author] May 11, 2019 @ 9:09am
@Jozef
The files are in : \ImperatorRome\game\common\cultures and for you "00_germanic.txt"
as long as you change the names, you don't need to change them in the localizations files.
We could make a collection for names with other modders to have a complete rework
Jozef May 11, 2019 @ 8:46am
How did you find out which names in the localisation file are of a certain culture? I'm doing a similar thing for Germanic names (though, instead of "son" and "dottir", "sunuz" and "duhter"), but, as the names aren't categorised by culture, it's really annoying to alter the list. Did you use a certain method, or did you just go through the list manually?
Daroya  [author] May 11, 2019 @ 2:19am
@Voxxel yes as close as we can. I sounds like greek for you because of the "os" or "a" in the end?
Voxxel May 11, 2019 @ 2:14am
Sounds like greek. The names are historically accurate?
Daroya  [author] May 11, 2019 @ 1:22am
ça tombe bien, je pensais modifier la description. Je rajoute ça.
Thinking_waffle May 10, 2019 @ 7:30pm
Salut, j'aimerais en savoir plus sur tes sources, sachant que les noms gaulois sont trouvables mais assez rare.
