looked at the code and theres literally nothing here that looks like it could cause save corruption etc. it sorts the inventory. thats it. the sort function is literally native too, its not doing any weird custom shit for that.

not entirely sure why people are stating its corrupting saves, i have had this mod since practically day 1 and it works fine on my end included modded items.
even uninstalled the mod and reinstalled and have no issues.
fiddled with the settings extensively and have had no issues with the sort options the mod offers.
restarted the game with different settings in the mod
zero issues

it just sounds like you guys are running something else that modifies your inventory sorting which is considered a conflicting mod
maybe watch what you are downloading

ok so I don't know why people are having so much trouble with this, as it works perfectly fine on my end??
I've seen people mention that it corrupts saves when new Hats or Badges are added via other mods, but I've got mods that add both and it's perfectly fine for me, so I am completely baffled as to what the issue is, because I have a feeling the original guesses as to what caused it are incorrect

To be honest when you have to jump through all sorts of hoops to even make a "quality of life" mod kind of function as advertised, only for to still break and ruin the game more than it helps. Is it even worth fiddling with it at this point?

So wait, what's the exact cause of this mod "breaking saves"? I've seen from the first page that it seems to be when other mods give you equipment, but is that because the mod doesn't know how to handle the unknown data and craps itself/the game? When I've had this mod, it made switching hats and keeping hat flairs very, very difficult and permanently messed up my order of hats. It didn't particularly "break" or "corrupt" my save and only really affected my hats, not my dyes, badges, or umbrella, so I'm wondering what everyone else is/had to go through really— It also persisted even after uninstallation so what I did to circumvent that (I hope) is by reinstalling it and setting everything by "Type" and then turning the misc. Settings to "Off" then disabling it and removing it, so I might just be missing some mad context

I wanted to find an inventory sorter, found out I already had one, then got hit with the bombshell that my save file is corrupt if i have it. Are my only options to either just keep the mod and let it break on its own or make a new save file or is there anything else I can do?

I feel sorry for the 23,154 current subscribers of this that probably corrupted their save file because of this broken mod. My only hope is that the majority of subscribers were people who uninstalled A Hat in Time a long time ago when this mod still worked and haven't played the game since then.

This mod brakes saves if other mods that adds stuff to your inventory are in the game. Can you please fix that?

I kinda wished the moderators could unlist or hide this Workshop entry since it conflicts with a lot of other mods and it also permanently ruins your save file even if you uninstall it lol

I know its highly unlikely you will update this but this mod conflicts with Easter Island by weird by causing one of text inputs to always say incorrect https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1719981682&searchtext=easter . The cause seems to be the simulated function UpdateBackpackData(optional bool force = false) line at the bottom

I have tested this myself to see if I could replicate the issue and the issue only arises when you have other mods that give you equipment aka reskins and new hats I haven't ran into this issue with any mods that don't add extra equipment aka map mods or stuff like dance in tranquillity I'm unsure if the mod author could patch something like that but at the very least it would be nice if he added a warning to the description, sorry you guys had to lose your saves like that it must suck. if anyone has any extra information let me know as this was my case it could be different for you.

@MooMew. A lot of old mods no longer work and brake the game which are still listed on the workshop despite that.

Wait, this mod is actually killing saves?

Could the mod author comment if they can? If there isn't any bug fix for this, then there either needs to be a warning or this needs to be delisted from the workshop ASAP, as this is one of the most popular QoL mods and unsuspecting new players could brick their saves.

Wdym it would "kill your save file"? Is that mod somehow messing with the game / other mods?

good thing all it did was sort my stuff and i cant figure out how to unsort it, it couldve killed my save file which wouldve sucked

Don't download this, it removes a LOT of your stuff, and if you decided to uninstall this mod after finding out that it removed some of your stuff, the mod will punish you by blacking out ALL your unlockables and making them inaccessible.

It can't be fixed even if you reinstall this mod, so be aware as this is essentially malware that will brake your save-file that your probably spent countless hours on it.

Found where that glitch everyone talks about comes from. Disabling the mod keeps the sorted order but turns all non-flair hats blank in the menu, and makes them unselectable. Re-enabling does not fix it, essentially meaning they're held hostage for you to not remove the mod.
TBH I have no reason to remove it but that's another reason why this should be in base game.

Unlike other comments here, I got no issues with it, but making a backup of your saves might be a cautious move to do just in case.

I would love if the EMPTY SQUARE (default costume) where placed the FIRST one, intead of the last one. Could it be done?

Really nice mod for the most part. Deleted all my rare stickers, but uninstalling brought them back and kept the hats sorted, so that's good at least

It was ok. until I looked at my quick menu, and it removed bow kid's bow. Don't know if I can get it back, and I sure won't redownload it.

Messed up my quick hat wheel, and wasn't undone after removing the mod from my game entirely. I'm not adding this back to my game, ever.

I don't know how possible this would be, but could you potentially add a way to manually sort inventory items? as without a lot of mods it can lag the game when sorting so if there was a way like in the config menu to disable auto sorting and have a manual sorting option that would be something I would love

What about sorting the contents of the actual inventory? My metro passes are between two badge pins and it's h.

Does anyone have any info on how this affects your game before obtaining every hat? For whatever reason, I think this mod may have caused my game to skip the ice hat, as I received a flair in a rift and was then unable to craft it.

by that i meant that for example, for a song for battle of award 42, it would say battle of award 42 under the name of the remix

this mod messed up my screenshots, in all of them around 3/4 of it was a glitched picture of the mod, otherwise 8/10 is pretty good
